Joe Montana Football 16

Madden is a roll the dice game. Its been constantly revolting from skill to a cpu based decisions game. User input is becoming extinct.

lol nope. this is one of the reasons i always liked madden over 2k. it sacrificed good looking animations for better control. 2k (NFL and NBA) are animation driven so they look really good in motion but to play them isn't great for me. madden doesn't always look good in motion because you have relatively good control and this causes janky looking things to happen sometimes.

but whatever brah, i've fought too many battles on maddens behalf to get too much into it anymore. jus dont give a fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck

NFL 2K5 had AMAZING presentation that still holds up to this day but the gameplay is definitely not better than Madden's.

TBH I don't care who is better in the long run as I am a NFL football fan. I just want a quality game whether it is 2k or Madden on the console. No matter what side you align with we all can agree competition should give us a better product. Thats a win-win for consumers!! I would love to have to decide between 2 quality NFL games.

As a NFL football fan I see that we continue to get a product that isn't the best that EA could offer. Video game football is being underserved in the current coercive monopoly. EA isn't interested in pushing the envelope or bringing about innovation to video game NFL football. And its clear that the NFL doesn't care as long as they continue to get paid.

I've got to assume this is just crazy rumors.

But . . . it doesn't seem like something completely crazy. MS has been pretty desperate to sell Xbox Ones. They paid for a Tomb Raider exclusive. They paid for the Titanfall exclusive. And if they could get a 1st party NFL license and could bring back a good NFL 2K16 football game . . . well, there certainly would be a lot of people who will buy Xbox One to play a good NFL 2K16 football game. That would seriously be a pretty nice exclusive to have.

However, so many questions .. . can MS really get a first-party license to the NFL? (Doesn't EA have a complete exclusive?) Is 2K Sports really involved? Will the game actually be good? (These games are incredibly complex and take a LOT of work to develop.)

But a real licensed NFL football game that is good, developed by 2K Sports, and published by Microsoft just for Microsoft platforms (Xbone and Windows) could be pretty interesting.

Keep hope alive!

Just wanted to say that Damon Grow (head guy behind Montana working on this game) goes into livestreams on twitch every now and again. Could probably throw a few suggestions his way. I'd just check his twitter because usually he says when and what stream he is going to.

Who would have thought Joe Montana would spend his retirement being a cocktease on Twitter about a video game? That said, I would love this to be on consoles or pc because Madden hasn't been all that great. At the same time I have a bad feeling that this could be mobile/shovelware at this point.

Waiting for a tweet of him visiting Sony, otherwise, this pretty much confirms the rumors.

Ugh, if what was posted on that forum is true then I can't wait to give this game a try and ditch Madden

Why would he be visiting MS for a mobile game?

Disappointing it appears that the only competition to Madden is going to be available to less than half of the football gaming population. If it was a good football game even id give it a shot, even though I don't care about the nfl. Just like I enjoy the show but don't care about the MLB.

Plinko

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Amazing--this could be huge at E3. If real, I hope it turns out good.

Strange that MS is in on this and going exclusive (assuming).

I would say that the NFL fans are probably already on Xbone. If anything, it probably just pisses off EA.

Well the original MS publishing rumour said PC and Xbox One... so that would probably be over half?

Madden 15 sold more on PS4 iirc

Microsoft going for the conversion I think.

I'm not sure who this pulls in.

I mean I'm intrigued, but kind of like in the way you are intrigued by a car accident.
? Madden is continuously in the top 10 most played games on the system. So it makes sense to cater to that fan base who likes football

I thought it sold more on the either the 360 or the Xbox one

There was rumors last year about a NFL game being in development... with players being face scanned etc by the team that did the 2K series. However there was also discussions about an exclusive deal with the NFL and EA that might have fallen through.

Does anyone know what came of any of this?

Would be just like MS to spend millions upon millions on a handegg (I'm joking) game that's really only going to interest people in NA.

If you only invest in things for the US, then people in Europe are never going to give a damn about your system. ;)

(Though I guess you could say that Sony is doing something similar with The Show)

I really hope the graphics are out of this world to make up for no NFL licenses because I cant see it getting much traction if it does not coupled with graphics on the level of a Madden was which has been terrible for years.

I don't see why an NFL game means they can't invest in things for the European market too. Just because they might not, doesn't mean that was because of this (possible) game.

It's not like America is the largest gaming market in the world or anything.

nobody gives a damn about xbone outside of the us and UK. it's smart for them to spend money to keep those last two markets from sliping away entirely, those are the only remaining beacheads that they're partially competitive in.
Not that its slowing the bleeding from a thousand cuts (pun intended).

I'd like to see a new football game on the market...

No it's definitely not the reason, but this whole "America first, UK second, rest of the world... who cares?" tactic (this is hyperbole I know), is just something I've noticed with MS.

It's not like America is the largest gaming market in the world or anything.

And still Sony manages to get, what...60-70% of their PS sales outside of the US? While still leading in the US...

If this turns out to be true this will be massive for Microsoft and Xbox.

There will be a lot of high sodium levels as well because many people over the years have been wanting a 2K NFL licensed game to go against Madden. A lot of which are certainly PS4 owners now. And this turns out to be exclusive? haha will be hilarious to see the meltdowns. With that 400 million dollar deal they signed with the NFL. That type of money it shouldn't be a surprise if they exchanged licensing rights of some kind. The official console of the NFL etc. it would make sense.

Edit: The deal with the NFL is supposed to last liek 4 years iirc. So there could also be Joe Montana Football 17, 18, 19 as well.

That's a... strange thing for Microsoft to spend money on. It doesn't seem like that big deal for the mainstream market. I doubt very many people are going to care since football fans are satisfied with Madden.

lol what meltdowns? This thread's at 14 pages in 9 months. This isn't going to be a Tomb Raider/Street Fighter situation.

No, not even close. While 15 was far better than 25, it's still Madden.
