What are the odds that the checkerboard tittymonster is the main love interest? Thatd be fairly unusual a go with the relationships.

I profusely doubt it. That would be way too far of any japanese developer confort zone, having a couple actually have some spice.

But just one thing:

Monster? Really?

I think you guys are taking this name thingy a little too far.

It WOULD be out of the normal. The whole pairing in these sorts of situations seem to be telegraphed from a mile away. Scant-witch has more of a chance hooking up with blond knight than main kid. Still, the idea that someone could bring this up(a possibility that we play in our mind to something out of the cliche norm) is fun. I liken it to FFVIII's pairing of Squall and Rinoa, which if you play the game, the development of the relationship isn't bad, but if you know nothing about them, just by first sight, you KNOW they are going to get together just because they fit into that mold of various character cliches(especially visually, Rinoa's Nomura's "type" of "ideal woman", like Tifa, which has been kinda a "thing" in a LOT of post-FFVII games, even with Garnet of FFIX, which Nomura had nothing to do with). My fantasy would start with the question of "What if Squall and Rinoa weren't a thing. What if Squall got with Selphie instead and Rinoa got with Zell or Irvine?". I like the breaking of traditional tropes and cliches. Sometimes things need to be turned up to make it feel fresh again!

Geez, how could you miss the other obvious twist that either her, her close family member or culture has some "magical technical device" that will destroy the galaxy and universe and all existence
Yet another plot twist,
she IS the magical technical device
.

Can't wait to see the battle system in action. SO3 was fun and I've heard the battles in 4 were some of the more redeeming factors for that game.

Pretty much. No kissing and the game leans to you picking Sophia, but you can, and arguably with better/more interesting results

Meh, I'd sooner argue that Nel was the go to if I took into account design for balance. Sophia was "favored" because she showed up so late in the game that she needed a huge number of "free points" to not be a total chore to get as an ending. Nel is really easy to get because you spend the majority of the game with her and several key events give her a metric ton of points and are unavoidable.

I'd bet a year of my avatar on it not being her. It'd be unusual to the extreme. Not happening.

I'd greatly appreciate the option, if Tri-ace is listening.

I know its extreme, that's why it'd be interesting. As Dargor said, it'd be spicy and a neat twist. Obviously not happening unless they follow SO3's points system though.

I meant it more as a joke than an insult. She's literally a monster: tail, wings, drill hair. And wears a checkerboard that fits perfectly to her rather obviously large breasts.

Yeah, thats the issue alright...

I know my friend, its just that no, shes not literally a monster lol.

Shes obscene, shes exaggerated. Surely the checkerboard pattern could have been black and white, not black and her skin color lol. Just to get people riled up. But a monster? That she is not.

She could be the ally who turns evil and do alot of atrocities throughout the game, thus becoming a monster. But her looks alone don't make her a monster.

And before people get me wrong, I'm not saying the character doesn't deserve criticism, she obviously does. I just think we should keep it a little more grounded. Not something that may sound like an insult. I think it would be way more productive.

Thanks for the link to HD screens :)

Sony will definitely bring DQ to the west if it's on PS4 and SE refuses to do it.

Yeah, they're definitely back to taking a more active role in this so I could totally see that if it's on PS4 and it would probably skyrocket on their 3rd party production list if S-E were to be stupid enough to not do it.

Sorry, I just think it's pretty hilarious someone's defending a fictional character cause someone called her tittymonster

Especially with that weird ass reasoning. She's not a literal monster, thus you're not allowed to call her a tittymonster? Or it's insulting to her (lol)?

I'm trying to understand why you're doing this

Pussy Witch and Tits McGee and Ms. "I have big tits and I ain't afraid to show it oh yeah Imma witch too ZAP YOU'RE DEAD MOTHERFUCKER" are fine, but monster is taking it too far

I know what you mean, its like when it comes to design these guys can be as daring as free climbing, but boy, talk about story/story telling and trying something different, they are as shy as a mouse. Even their fanservice games are pretty childish.

Lack of clothes and huge boobs does not a more "grown up" game make. As Yoda would say lol.

I think you need to calm down a little and read my post again. My reasoning is pretty clear, I think. All those other nicknames have a base in reality, even if they are very unpolite things to say.

But monster? What makes you think she looks like a monster? And my understanding of the word "monster" isn't something that can be described as just looks alone.

I just think it sounded way too much and so I confronted it. Thats the extent of my post.

I'm pretty sure that's not skin colored cloth, that's her actual skin. As in the black squares are the only pieces of fabric comprising of whatever she's wearing. The 'skin color' parts are her actual skin showing through the holes.

Wow If that's true, that would make her even more obscene than I thought at first lol.

Ah, the "calm down" approach. Love it.

My friend I think you are taking my posts the wrong way. There is no approach to any of them. The only reason I told you to calm down was because you started using caps and some pretty aggressive phrasing.

I apologize if anything I said sounded condescending or patronizing.

I think we should stop with this conversation though. It's not really working for us.

not me
Multiple character endings would be great. Having party flexibility in both story and gameplay can go a long way as it minimizes tropes that annoy you.

They said they are pushing SO3 similarities so there is a glimmer of hope, but it would require more work so my default assumption is just nope.

The current style has tons more personality imo.

I love how they went for realistic lighting and environments on "anime" characters.

They achieved a unique look. This on the other hand is so hackneyed.

Yeah i'm glad every j-rpg doesn't feature bald marines quite yet.

Wasn't it rumored when Jrpgaf was at its prime (more info straight from Japan) that SO4 was planned to have dudebro-ish character models for America on top of the uncanny cg art, but it was later scrapped?
