Okay guys, your game's funded. Now give us a soundtrack add-on tier! 40 bucks for soundtrack-only physical prize, nothing else.

That's fair, right?

I'm so happy

Ya'll are cray cray

Banjo-Kazooie was filled to the brim with "epic" boss battles!

Conga The Gorilla, Nipper The Crab, Chomper The Shark, Clanker's Innards (Curse those tentacles!), The Frogs in Bubblegloop, Mr. Vile, Boggy, that green ghost in mad monster mansion, Boss Box in Rusty Bucket Bay, and of course Gruntilda herself! That's a TON of bosses, they were just creative with how you fought them!

Just please no Mr. Patch equivalent. They spammed him in Nuts & Bolts to the point where I'd be happy if I never had to see that balloon ever again.

Clearly the market doesn't want 3D platformers anymore.

This is a very vocal minority, though, and not necessarily representative of gaming at large. Don't get me wrong. I'm extremely hyped about the game. But I don't think the success of the KS bespeaks the larger market necessarily. Similarly, I am curious how MN9 will sell.

Not to rain on the parade at all, as I'm ridiculously psyched for the game. Just my thoughts on the larger market.

Backed for the console version

But I REALLY want a physical artbook and CD soundtrack. That would push me to a higher tier, but not digital.

Backed.

It's a slow day at work and I just watched the numbers continuously climb. Congrats, Playtonic! Oh, and that music... more please!

Holy crap. It was at 192k and then I read the page for a couple minutes... looked back up and it was at 210k. This thing is going places.

It's kind of weird that boss battles are a stretch goal though. I mean I funded but it sounds like if it stopped right now it'd be a half a game..

I honestly feel like they expected they'd have no trouble hitting those stretch goals, but wanted to play it safe just in case.

Honestly, I literally just saw this thread for the first time and it was already funded. Amazing.

Lets not get too ahead of ourselves here, indie 3d platformers on kickstarter that dont have the clout to work an IGN exclusive still struggle to get funded.

Like a Hat in Time ?
Let's be honest here, the hype was real for this game. It's all about the people behind it. Take the game follow-up of Eternal Darkness: Shadow of the Eternals. It had IGN coverage and it failed hard, because of the people behind it.

The market is here for 3D platformers, and the bigger your team/concept is, the more you'll get.

Why? Why do you think there's absolutely anybody else in the world who would want this besides you? Why do you think they should create an extra tier for their video game Kickstarter for somebody who doesn't even want their video game?

25-30 USD digital soundtrack add-on if in lossless ALAC or FLAC encoded from the original masters would also be acceptable to me.

There are plenty of people like me who love these soundtracks but don't click with these games that would gladly give money towards them!

Add-on tiers are not uncommon, Armikrog had them, and soundtracks make great gifts. I wanna go in for a donation tier, and then maybe 2 soundtracks to keep and give.

That, and a lot of us just love Grant Kirkhope and David Wise that much. My friend didn't own Nuts and Bolts and got the soundtrack because Grant did an amazing job, same with me and Banjo 1. Add-one make great extra gifts for everyone and help them raise more money!

Yeah!!

It looks fucking amazing for 3 months of work too

Clearly the market doesn't want 3D platformers anymore.

Hope this could help as an indicator that the market will always be there to support and play a nice 3D platformer. Right now only Nintendo is the one doing them but now after this super fast funding campaign with Playtonic, I'm sure 3D platformers are gonna become a trend once again and that is super awesome because I love 3D platformers so much.

The "larger" market doesn't know what it fucking wants. This is fact.

I agree to an extent, but there are certain things it definitely wants, and this is not necessarily one of them, or at least it hasn't been for a long time. Then again, there was a serious dearth of 3D platformers on non-Nintendo systems last gen, so who knows. Really just thinking out loud here :)

There is word. Was a 100k+ project ever funded this fast?

I think stuff like the Veronica Mars movie. Someone in this or another thread mentioned a Pebble product. Maybe MN9 on the gaming side?

Jesus it made over a thousand pound in about 10 seconds. Looking forward to this, absolutely loved banjo, one of my favourite childhood games, along with goldeneye and perfect dark.

So happy to see this getting funded. Only concern is the fact 5 levels sounds too low. Hopefully we see around 9, like the other Banjos games had!!

This is just... wow! Congrats to the team - Clearly the desire for this style of game is through the roof!
