PT no longer downloadable in US (and EU/UK) even with license

In germany PT required playstation plus and as far as I know C418 lives in germany. Should be the explanation why he sees an expiration date while others don't.

I get it's your personal decision and all, but Konami is gone from the gaming scene either way, they burnt a shitload of bridges on the way, it's a question of whether Konami as a whole will regret it or not.

I'll throw in this Jimquisition about whining versus boycotting.

Ah yeah, that makes sense.

It's a little extra sting for people who downloaded it with a German account though.
Those expensive PS4s w/ PT installed on German ebay... I hope no one buys those :lol

Unless you're a diehard silent hill fan I have to say the teaser is a little overhyped. Just watch a playthrough on youtube or something, there's hardly any gameplay involved, it's more about piecing clues together/atmosphere.

I'm not a diehard Silent Hill fan at all and I'd say that P.T. was one of the best horror experiences I've had across games, movies and books. There was nothing quite like playing this demo with the lights out, in headphones while alone in my house.

This will be like removing "Boot to Linux" for PS3 in spurring the hacker and pirate community to crack the PS4's security.

And it's not even Sony's fault this time.

Im sort of into that though. I love that type of stuff, but i just havent gotten a PS4 yet because of there being no games on it that i want. Im one of the biggest MGS fans, so i feel like i missed out on a piece of Kojimas catalog. Oh well. I expect a huge outrage, and then it will be put back up. At least i hope. Its in my download history too.

No. When you download a PS+ game, a license is created which expires on the PS+ expiration date. The license is only re-checked if the game is launched without a valid license (after the expiration date). If P.T is completely pulled, the PS4 can't get a new license with the new PS+ expiration date.

Hum... makes sense. unless you don't need the game to be on the server to renew the license. Guess we will have to wait and see.

Of course what [some] people are missing is regardless if it was free or $10, rather if it was a teaser or full game, it still has a license attached to it, that the end user "purchased", and the Publisher controls. Is easy to replicate right now: Go to the PSN store download a Demo, and tell me what the email that SEN sends you says.........

Also from Sony's term:


(xi)The products you have purchased will be available to you to download or stream (as applicable) for a reasonable period.
(xii)You purchase a licence to use the products as described in these terms of service and do not take ownership of them.

However Konami, and Sony are not the only ones with that language. So they and others will defend it aggressively.

Yes it's a free demo. But it cost them money to develop said demo.
It wasn't costing them anything to just leave it on accounts. What a waste of time. The only possible thing they are going to achieve is pissing people off and loosing (what is left) of the fan base

Konami might as well visit every gamer's house that likes them and leave a flaming bag of poo on their step. They continue to screw with their fans, almost with purpose.

It's like they are completely tone-deaf. I'm not buying any more Konami products because of this. It's a shame, because I like PES.

Was a fun go through once, but not something I'm playing again.. when people talk about hallway simulators.. that's exactly what this is.

Is there a way I can backup this game or backup my whole hard drive? I want an external copy that the internet can't touch or one I can restore with if my ps4 were to break. I know 360 had features like this and I think ps3.

It's a great little bit of horror that delighted and scared a lot of people. People have fun replaying it and looking for stuff, especially with others. Having this company not only remove it but possibly letting it expire to where even consoles with the game installed can no longer run it is fucked.

Because it is really good?

I played it last night just to be sure mine was working and I'm still scared shitless (even tho I finished last year). I don't think I have played anything with such a perfect atmosfear...
