As someone who didn't have the PS4 on my radar until 2016, I'm so glad I played P.T. on friends' consoles and then when I ended up getting a PS4 anyways, I grabbed it last minute.
what does one do with this?

Got the json?
PT, a non-existing game by a non-existing man.
json is the metadata that came with the file. What's the difference?

yeah i did that and its done downloading. What do i do with the file?
Give it back!!!
The biggest horror in P.T. is the fact that my PS4 my die and I may lose the game indefinitely.
"My PS4 died and I'm suffering from P.T.S.D."
So since this was my first Silent Hill experience, I probably just shouldn't play the series out of respect for the cancellation? (I may have already bought digital copies of some of the games. If so i'll probably play those... maybe.)
Play 1-4 though. So since this was my first Silent Hill experience, I probably just shouldn't play the series out of respect for the cancellation? (I may have already bought digital copies of some of the games. If so i'll probably play those... maybe.)
I wonder if P.T. can still be streamed off PS4?
Best part is? They can do this with paid for games as well, should they desire. The EULA says we lease the license to play them.. this could be a foreboding omen for the future.. I'm scared.. and want to play Silent Hills to be more scared.. Damn you Konami.. damn you..
Will Konami really stop at nothing at this point?!Yesterday my computer monitor started doing some weird flickering with hissing sounds that comes and goes randomly. Kinda feels like the hauntings in PT.
Guess my monitor is dying...
Not bullshit. Suck it up. You have a long, difficult life ahead of you otherwise.

Especially when we were not informed when we acquired the license that we wouldn't be able to downloaded it again after a certain date.Yep, it's bullshit. There's no difference between a digital license acquired for $0, $0.01, $1.00, or $100 - they all grant the same rights to access content. You don't understand the basics of what's being discussed.

They do, indeed. That's the scary part. Konami isn't breaking any laws, because consumer rights laws are too old to have language to deal with concepts like re-downloading a purchase.
They most likely can de-list anything they want, legally, at any time. They just don't because there's little reason for them to do so.
Get ready, folks, because eventually these companies will decide they don't need to keep hosting PS3/360/Wii era games for re-download, either. I'm just afraid that too few people will care to make a difference.
Wouldn't that just encourage piracy? I couldn't imagine a worse way to piss off your customers.

A Gaffer the other day pointed on how each download from Sony servers costs 16 cents or so, maybe Konami pulled down PT in order to avoid this fee.

Expecting purchases to be availabe indefinitly, although not being undesirable, is unrealistic.
Long story short:
- Yes it's shitty
- It's to be expected
- It's neither Konami nor Sony's fault
- It's not bad precedent, this future is inevitable
Well, guess what? Reality backs me up. Sorry! I know you wish life was different, but them's the breaks.

As in every case with digital media, this is not the issue. The issue is always DRM. If we had the ability to make backups, within reason, then there wouldn't be any problem at all. People would only have themselves to blame if there was a better way to keep your purchases than "cleaning out the fridge".
