NPD Sales Results for April 2015 [Up1: Xbox One #1]

Ltd I assume
Edit: Rethought it and Xb1 and Ps4 can't be that close ltd wise so it has to be this month's

Sucks that BB couldn't keep up the momentum in April but with NPD's current system it is very hard for a single SKU to place in consecutive months in the top 10 unless it is Halo.

It's on individual SKU top 10, so could have sold well for second month.

The king... has returned. In this game of thrones, where there can be only one market leader, the market... has spoken. A few years into last generation, the 360 unexpectedly got a boost from a hardware revision, kinect, and a price cut and never looked back, dominating the remainder of the generation. Now, history has repeated itself, but much sooner than anyone could have guessed.

Microsoft didn't need a price cut and they told Sony "you could have those measly third party marketing deals". They said we're gonna win this on the power of our brand alone. Sony underestimated how long it takes to make next-generation games and is left without anything significant to show for this critical holiday season. So they're throwing around what little money they have left in their chauffeurs hoping something sticks.

Now that the DRM fiasco is forgotten and the kinect has become optional, the value proposition has been turned on its head. The masses are flocking back to the Xbox brand in record numbers. Microsoft is one-upping, so to speak, Sony at every turn. You got Plus? We got Gold. You got Bloodborne, yeah we got Scalebound. You got The Order, have some Gears Remastered, what you wish The Order was. They told fans to find the truth, and boy did the fans ever find it. Be prepared... Halo... is... coming.

Sony could spend their efforts trying to win the rest of the world, but Microsoft is perfectly content with dominating the good ole US of A. Win april, check. Win May, no problem. Dominate E3... done and done. Momentum is a funny thing... once it gets going, good luck trying to stop it. I don't envy Sony's position one bit. To build a lead only to see that lead whittled away until it's eventually overtaken. That one poster above may be physically rattled by this news, but the bigger story is how these NPD results have forever, and irreversibly, left Sony, and it's fans, straight shook.

9.5/10 Not bad

That's roughly 1 in 10 users of the N3DS in the States!

But that also tells us alot if Xeno3D was going to sit at top 5 with that number...
Either that consoles are dead or that digital is eating retail's lunch

Nintendo is pretty good at reporting its digital numbers so we'll know soon enough.

2 ~ 105, 4 ~ 51%, 1 ~ 42%

Huh. Pretty good numbers for MKX, and that split is not that far apart.

I mean, looking at the numbers, DSII is at ~105k at the 8th spot, combined. Aside from GTA and MKX, software sales are bad at retail at least.

man thats actually a pretty decent split for dark souls considering the fanbase is most likely on ps but then again bloodborne just launched a couple of weeks before it.

pretty good sales advantage of mkx sales for ps4

About a 220k difference in sales. It's certainly not one sided at least. Maybe.

I don't know 58% PS4 is a bigger gap than I expected. I was thinking at most 55-45.

I was expecting more but more from a future-stance point of view of thinking that more fighting game fans would be on the PS4 due to the eventual SFV, and as such more likely to support a fighting game like this. That may have been misguided thinking, though.

That said, I guess we know that BB is at least <100k for the entire month.

Are you serious? That's quite an imagination you have there. The xbone could have won by 50 consoles and here you are painting this picture that the guys at Sony are literally shitting in their pants.

ZSaberLink

Media Create Maven
LTD diff : 680 ~ 690

Also interested in Mario Party 10 2nd month sales, since it apparently was one of the top 10 selling SKUs this month.

I'm pretty sure that's a running gag btw.

I guess the lower price point finally helped them out in a very slow sales period.

No exclusives really(Bloodborne's sales seem to have been very frontloaded).

Considering that now digital sales are bigger and old gen versions was delayed, I'm very surprised that MK X sold that much on retail.

As a PS4 owner im really happy this happened. I want both Consoles in the race. Not just Sony leading. I can see MS always trying to improve their console every month while Sony is doing kinda nothing. Good Job Microsoft & Phil . you guys really did turn this around.

Where does this thinking come from? Boggles my mind.
