Just a reminder that certification generally has little to do with bugs solely related to gameplay, but rather how it plays with the Xbox One (OS, hardware) and Live as a whole.

Why is it so hard for them to say "sry guys its delayed to June" ?
Makes me wonder if there are some poor folks looking at a must fix bug counter and hoping to get it over the line in the next few days, thereby sticking to their promise and saving a bit of face.

Arguably that's worse if it's the case (I'm not convinced that it is).
Cert for the MCC could possibly be more stringent now anyway, given that it's a black eye on the money marker.

For me a bigger debacle than the state of the game itself is the way we get information.

343 is terrible with this. A bulletin once a month were everything is seen through rosetinted glasses doesn't give us hope.
Make a section where the devs update us about the problems they face with those things, so we could somehow understand how some shit still happens after 790710947109 patches.

Make a fucking postmortem video about the MCC. Anything, seriously.

343 communicating to the fans?

Don't make me laugh. They won't fix that problem and will likely never fix it going by how they are acting now.

I've long stopped caring about the MCC. I got like... 80 hours or something from the campaigns and whatnot so I can't say that it's been a complete waste of money. Even if I was excited about the multiplayer

Not too fussed about an ODST delay. Gives me more time to finish the Witcher, I suppose

I had a pretty fun FF variant set up called Hunter Punter or something similar. Optimally it was done on Corvette; the waves consisted of ~80% Hunters and like 20% Grunts to back them up, and players spawned fully cloaked with Energy Swords, and you couldn't pick up weapons. The idea was to sneak around and kill all of the Hunters in the allotted time limit because there was only one life per round, but it was also possible to get them to kill eachother, distract aggro'd Hunters using one player, etc.

Lol sounds like a ton of fun. Corvette was so chaotic with wraiths 0_o

Nightmare Mode was my favorite.

Fuck Skirmishers. Fuck hyper accurate Needle Rifle machine gun fire.

That's what I keep thinking. Can't imagine another reason to be so quiet about the date. If it was any other reason, I'd expect to have seen either a confirmation of May or an announcement of a slippage by now. Not to mention that there has got to be some serious pressure to release the game in a much better state than MCC was at launch to avoid turning this effort to salvage some good will into another embarrassment.

"AR starts enhance map movement"

Was this an actual quote from someone at Bungie circa 2007?

And all those new H2A forge maps we know they've been working on.

Hell, just put in some community-made ones already!
Like, get someone at 343 to give it a once-over and say, okay it's good!
The H2A Forge was SUPPOSED to extend the life of multiplayer of H2A which only shipped with SIX maps, right?

Like many other things, I try not to think of how much potential forge has for making the game better because it makes me sad.

"AR starts enhance map movement"

Waypoint incarnate

I don't understand why SMGs even exist in H3. Can anyone recall the last time they used one in H3?

Yeah in the ODST playlist or whenever Team Duals got voted in Social. lol

I mean, it was fun every once in a while (the 1 match out of hundreds it appeared), but even Social Slayer in Halo 3 had default BR starts.

They are good for wrecking the Banshee on Valhalla. I usually will pick one up because even single-wielded they seem better than the AR (pulsing helps a lot).

But they are pretty silly overall- in the run up to Reach I remember some Bungie update mentioned how comparatively bloated the H3 sandbox was.

That ODST/Relic topic on gaming side is a pathetic display. Folk oughta be ashamed.

You don't seem to understand the actual problem then, besides it being a hyperbole thread in 1st place. People are annoyed by 343i's way of communication. 4 days left of May and they tell us it's only a placeholder date and that they will share more info soon. SOON. SOON. SOON. That's all we hear.

Nobody is actually outraged, because ODST is not done yet. They should take all the time they need.

Similar. Some choice quotes they had before the launch of Halo 3:

What is the best [weapon] to spawn with? It's absolutely the most critical weapon to get right.

They came up with a few rules for spawn weapon:

It shouldn't do head shots because then the game is just about head shots. And it shouldn't be dual-wieldable, because then the game becomes about dual-wielding And it's really important that whenever you spawn, if someone is shooting you with whatever weapon they have, you're at least able to fight back.

Don't just think because it looks like the Halo 1 assault rifle, it must be useless. This is a new model.

Note that this was also the time when Peter Jackson was supposedly working on two Halo projects, with Neil Blomkamp on the movie. Frankie was quoted as saying about the other project as:

Will it be a sequel? A prequel? A side story? We won't sequel.

Oh, how much has changed.

Damn, I'm done with that gaming side thread.

On the topic of Halo though. I was playing through H4 again and I realised that one of the things that bothered me the first few times around actually kinda make sense.

Why was no one being shocked when they found the Chief?

First time I played the game I was kinda confused as to why no one seems to be surprised when they find the Chief in the jungle. I realised today though that the Infinity already knew the Chief was on Requiem. Cortana's beacon talks about the Chief being alive so they will already know he's on the planet and chances are they'd been tracking him ever since the Infinity entered Requiem. Hence Palmer and crew finding him so easily.

It's a joke of a thread, half the people in there poking fun or posting probably aren't even Halo fans. Most of them are more than likely just jumping on the bandwagon and have no idea about anything.

Yeah I know, there was just one specific comment about ODST being a waste of time that pissed me off.
