Sony will give a refund eventually. You have to ask them to escalate it to a supervisor/manager then state your case with them. In all likelihood they will refuse again. Then you have to write an angry email to them or just be angry with them on the phone. Do that about 3 to 5 times more and you'll have your refund. That's how I've always gotten mine from Sony. Never been denied, but it might take weeks.

Obviously not worth your time, but sometimes it's about the principle of the matter.

yup. they can do it. i forgot to unsubscribe to my music unlimited trial by a day and i was able to get them to reverse the charge. they also come back with the "one time courtesy blah blah blah"

Does anyone know what site would have the best info so I can do my own comparison tests on framerate and input lag? Rather than relying on other peoples findings I wouldnt mind getting my own results just as a bit of a learning exercise.

Yup they say one time courtesy, but nowhere do they make a mark on your account. I know because I've gotten multiple refunds in a year's time before and they said "one time" each time. It's just something they say.

Its nowhere near 8. It'd be borderline unplayable at that point. There's some input lag, but its not more than the PS3 version, even though they promised there'd be none.

They didn't say there'd be no lag, they said it'd be less than the PS3 version's 1 frame disadvantage over the 360 version. As it happens, it's about the same as the PS3 version when using the Dual Shock 4, but one or two frames more lag when using a PS3 stick, presumably because of the driver.

European, bought it in the US Store. When I search for matches, I only get Americans and Canadians. Online region locked?
Oh shit. You change the search parameters by any chance? First I've heard of this, that sucks ass if it is region locked.

Oh shit, the disparity is confirmed?

It's a truly bad port, got home and I've been testing this out.

Visuals

This is the blurriest 1080p game I've seen with no AA, I even increased brightness to max in-game and it's still blurry. The game does not look 1080p sharp at all. I'm thinking it's the inexistent texture filtering, and yes, it's awful.

NO AA and NO AF is a travesty in this 6+ year old game, every stage especially training stage looks like a soupy mess.

In training Stage doing trials, Dan's Avatar is borked, his pink costume seems smeared way beyond his shoulder/face in the top right, similar to guile's fireball glitch, where you see guile stretching past his grounded position and you see his reflection booming away in his own projectile.

Sound

They need to fix the high/lows in the game, playing a game online the game audio seems much lower than offline arcade mode audio. After you play a game online sound gets much louder going back to arcade mode, it's not balanced right.

They should allow me an option to hear the announcer declare the title screen on my tv speakers instead of my DS4.

Lag

The menu lag is awful, it loads and slides super slow both offline and online, it's especially distracting online, because you get the feeling that's how the match is going to run, and sadly most times this is how it runs online, as molasses as the menus. Nothing below a green bar is smooth so far.

I noticed there maybe some input lag when I tried Zangief's 17th trial, it requires perfect timing and there seems to be a slight delay from going from a crouching normal to chaining a few standing jabs, it seems off compared to all other versions I've tried. It's hard to time it here. I hope it's not me trying to adjust to the DS4 pad.

Doing other trials and playing arcade mode seems fine for the most part, I can pull of most combos just fine, but something feels amiss still.

Suggestions

Having said all that, I think the issues here can be fixed in short order. Just add 16xAF and some AA (8xAA at least) and that takes care of most of the visual issues. Fix the glitches with fireballs and avatars. Fix the sound level issues and you have a good start to correcting this mess as it is. I've not noticed the name duplicating issue or text issue that some have had however.

After they've done that they can move on to sorting out the issues with Evil Ryu missing an Fadc or the game glitching in trial mode etc. It's really a sad state of affairs but I'm thinking they should fix the most glaring issues over the next few days and sort out the rest in the next two to three weeks. Who knows what is causing some of these issues maybe it's the driver from Lab Zero which may have some incompatibility issues, but they better source it and kill it right away.

The biggest problem I see these guys having is sorting out the matchmaking and quality of online bars. I just searched for a ranked game online and it came up with one yellow connection and all the rest were greyed out, meaning not even a red beyond that, so it doesn't seem to be working quite well as of now.

It's really a shame that we keep getting products that have so many glaring and simple issues that could be avoided by a more competent dev, the decision to hire these guys was just a bad decision. I truly hope this is the last nail that drives publishers away from outsourcing their product for a cheap conversion, there's just too much headache in the aftermath. I'm also sure that the money they did not want to spend initially, will have to be used to fix this port. For Heavens's sake use QLOC, Nixxes, Hexadrive or Bluepoint. Nobody elese is worth your time.

It's still playable if you have a fast TV, but Sony/Capcom's boasts about it being the 'definitive edition' are outright misleading, regardless of the numerous bugs.
I'm referring to the ps3 stick driver actually compounding the input lag.

I hope they make an announcement that they will fix these issues or give a refund. Because glitches like invisible fireballs is unacceptable especially after stating this will be the best version in the marketing campaign.

This. I played Handsome Collection after this and the IQ was so much better. Sadly, Capcom already has my money.

Man, that other ocean logo is the first thing you see too. They really need to get it sharper, the lack of AF is butchering the IQ. Any form of AA apart form FXAA would be good too.

Good, but sad summary.
I just hope that some fire has been lit up under some proverbial asses and that things are already in motion to fix this. Speaking of which, I didn't notice any of the filters that's present in the PC version.

From what I remember the main people that complained about input lag on PS3 were American/European players that didnt have access to SF4 cabs, since sf4 cabs had the same amount of input lag as the PS3. Of course since most majors were held in the US, most tournaments were on the 360. EVO was the exception until last year when MS sponsored the event. It's also why some jpn players complained about dropping combos on the 360 version of the game, because of the lag difference.

Japanese players didn't complain about the 360 version. They complained about the PS3 version of the game.

Almost every top player in Japan plays on the 360 version and have been since 2010. This is why everyone used to always bring up the ps3 being the reason why the top Japanese players were dropping combos if they were to come to the States and the tournament was using the ps3 version.

Gods Garden online, Topanga, etc... have been played on 360. In fact, until very recently it was thought that the 360 version played closest to the arcade cab.

So, I have the X360 version of Super SFIV AE that I got for free from Games With Gold, and paid the $15 to get the Ultra SFIV upgrade, what do I need to download to get all the costumes? Semi-OT, but I do want to complete the costume collection.

The more time passes the more bugs are discovered...wow!

Anyone important (Ono, for example) commented on the matter? This is unacceptable! :(

the standard apology for shitty QA had been free DLC. I guess all they can offer for this would be a SF5 beta.

Well, if the Steam database is an indication, there's probably a new costume set coming out soon. However, that's probably gong to be almost the price of the game, so don't count on anything.

ono said he was going to talk to sony. gio corsi (Director of Third Party Production & Developer Relations) said they are looking at the issues.

I think that's because USF4 is a DLC pack, it's in there as ultra.

I hope it's an option to change the menu theme. This is horrible.

indestructible pls...who am i kidding. if they aren't willing to pay for a good port they aren't going to pay to license the song :p

Just tried again and keep only getting Americans when searching.

Played a few games of endless with portuguese friend, I then exited, tried searching for endless matches of the same region and nothing, while I was sure him room was open.

There appears to be either some online region restriction or extreme preference.

Sony's chat support WILL ALWAYS "hang up" on you if you try to talk to them about a refund. Maybe not immediately, but once they've said 'no' they pretty much immediately disconnect.

Call. I know it sucks because words and stuff, but it's the only way. Don't let the person off the phone. Ask to speak to someone else. Pull out all stops. You CAN get a refund.

How does a refund work with digital stuff? Do they remove the license? How will they be able to refund you?
