Unannounced Platinum Game Coming to E3 (IGN)

What part of his job requires him to go on twitter and brag about knowing E3 secrets?

The part of his job that requires a large number of people to be excited about E3 (and speciffically what his site is covering) so that they read/watch/share lots of his site's coverage during the week and he and his colleagues can continue to eat and afford homes etc.

Why do so many people want a Platinum-developped Metroid? I LOVE Platinum and I LOVE Metroid, but I don't think they'd go so well together... Metroid is VERY different from what PG excels at.

It can't be exclusive, otherwise it would be shown into Sony or MS conference. Probably multiplatform

His job title isn't hypeman, and if he wants to get people excited for E3 say something a long the lines of "We have a really cool game announcement at E3 coming for you guys, get excited!", not make a tweet about him reading secret documents and he himself being excited about it. The tweet was bragging.
Or if he wants to make it a little more personal say that he is excited for it and thinks we will like it too.

im feeling so weird right now... this is either gonna be a super FUCKING AWESOME REVEAL... or LOTS of people are going to be really really REALLY sad.

If its NOT MGR2 = Devastated But might be redeemed if Vanquish 2
If its NOT Vanquish 2 = Totally Devastated

If they announce anything other than MGR2 with Vanquish 2 as my Second Choice... i will feel super awful.

end of the day the only thing i want is another franchise exclusive to a platform that upsets people so i can ensure my ongoing lifeforce for another century

I don't think we're going to get another "takin' our exclusives" thing this gen. People have grown numb or expect it now. Look at all the posts in here taking Platinum = Wii U as gospel.

Wait

VJ was Clover, not Platinum.....why wouldn't IGN use Bayonetta or something

Kamiya did both VJ and Bayonetta, no?

Edit: And I totally wouldn't be surprised if this was an exclusive. If companies keep parking dumptrucks of money on your doorstep for passion projects, why would you say no?

Yeah, if Platinum is making another original game then they can go straight to hell.

no no no... it would just have to prove itself and i wouldnt feel as hyped as i would with MGR2 or Vanquish2..

Im not saying a new IP would be horrible.... just that with everyone being hyped for MGR2, it would FEEL like a letdown if its anything but.

My dream:

Capcom contracts Platinum to make Viewtiful Joe 3. Releasing on PS4, XB1, WiiU and PC.

My wet dream:

Viewtiful Joe 3 rumoured heavily to be PS4 exclusive hours before E3. Then at the end of Microsoft's E3 conference, Phil Spencer says: "I'm sure you guys all enjoyed that wicked sick Scalebound presentation. But you haven't seen anything yet." And Kamiya comes on stage for a 10-minute game play demo of Viewtiful Joe 3 and announces it will be exclusive to XB1.

I think it could be great. I remember being super pumped when the initial Other M reveal had Team Ninja's logo. This game could be like...Other M but good.

Anyway if Platinum is working on a Nintendo franchise my money would be on Star Fox. Kamiya' sheen very open about wanting to make one, and Miyamoto said they were looking into getting some help with it last year...if I remember correctly.

Captain Falcon action game.

This. I will never understand the people that ask for that. It makes no sense.

If Nintendo wants Metroid to become a character action game to appeal to Japanese players, they might as well do it with the best 3D action game developer in the business. I'd vastly prefer a more atmospheric, slow-paced Metroid myself, but seeing something more actiony and fast-paced like a 3D Zero Mission might be pretty cool. Like how the best parts of Other M were when Samus actually shut up and started kicking ass. And hey, a group of "old-school game design"-obsessed devs like Platinum would probably have more respect for the franchise and NOT focus on dialogue and cutscenes this time... As much as I love dank Revengeance memes I could go for a Platinum game that ditched the campy/shitty story for once.

I think they mean this new PG game, not Scalebound, but we don't even know if this game is a Kamiya game like Scalebound is.

It's not going to be a Kamiya game. He's not going to direct two titles at once.

It doesn't day that in the article. Where was it revealed it would be exclusive?

If it's really exclusive it's probably for PS4. Nintendo got Bayonetta 2, Microsoft got Scalebound...

This really isn't how it works. If Sony isn't interested in funding a title from Platinum, there isn't going to be a PS4 exclusive from them.

Agreed. This would be an absolutely dreadful combination.

Almost as bad as Metroid x Team Ninja.

:'(

Why are Metal Gear Rising 2 and Devil May Cry being exclusive to PS4 a wet dream for some?

Because they're fanboys?
At least with Metal Gear and DMC those franchises are very closely associated with PS and many titles were exclusive for a long time to PS, so you can understand where that line of thought comes from. That person saying Viewtiful Joe being an Xbox One exclusive just stood out as weird to me.

Ok, but then why not call out the article in the OP. It doesn't tell us that 'we should watch' an IGN exclusive gameplay reveal, they say that 'IGN will be premiering'. It's basically the same sort of pedantic distinction you're asking him to make. The implication is the audience should be excited too, even if it's not explicitly stating it.

Also what difference does it make if he *was* just personally excited/bragging? Why does that make him an arsehole? Oh no, he enjoys his jobs and sometimes knows things before we do?

Shit,

I don't know what expectation to place on this.

My gut says Rising 2, but that was months ago and Konami left the business because the return on games like Rising was what it was.

Not sure I can see SCEE ponying up 50 mil + advertising to nab an exclusive from Platinum.

Alright, let's just hope I own the system this is announced on.

And hope for Vanquish 2 in the mean time.

You can understand that line of thought? I can't. Hoping for a game to be exclusive to a platform simply because it's "very closely associated" with a certain console manufacturer is petty console warrior bullshit.
