Just don't say Battlefront.

I'll let you have Mass Effect, I'll take Mirror's Edge.

It's shinobi, therefore it's Mass Effect

I don't get it, why is this officially announced today? Didn't they show a trailer for this at some E3? Doesn't that count as announcing it?

Or is it just because it now has an official name?

Bigger nose

Less slanted eyes

Bigger lips.

Just cause she has makeup on and has dark hair I wouldnt call this new design very asian ( or truthful to the first games character if i want to ignore broad strokes ).

Not trying to generalize but I hope yall understand what I mean

You are generalizing heavily. She does not look Japanese, but that's only one part of Asia.

I guess because its now officially known to be a reboot as well as getting its official name.

I don't know if this is a representation of the in-game character model but she looks pretty good to me. Not as drastic as people are making it out to be imo.

Since this was announced months ago is there actually any new information other than the title and platforms? Why so much attention, did people miss the announcement?

Faith looks less asian and more like - let's say - Emma Stone tbh

I managed to play the first game on plus last year, very enjoyable almost puzzle-like in the platforming and parkour, when you got in the flow of things, it was great.

It had massive flaws but its charm and artstyle kept me going,

so when do we get : Mirror's Edge - The Faith Collection?

Lol at people arguing about Faith's design, she appeared in like one intro cutscene in the first game, hell, for all I care she was a pair of hands and legs, can't give two shits about the character I don't even see.

Faith looks cool. The race discussions are a bit embarrassing in this day and age tbh.

Most anticipated game in a while. Please don't simplify, streamline, focus on multiplayer or any of that. I want the same kind of tight, challenging and deep experience.

Is this EA's new mantra? Reboots that aren't really reboots at all lol.

I look forward to seeing gameplay — they announced this way too early two years ago and now you gotta wait for a 2016 release which could mean Fall 2016.

Not a big deal, but I prefer her more sharp/angular original design. It was striking.

I cannot wait to see this in motion! I just really hope EA doesn't fuck this over and DICE has to put dumb stuff in it...please...

@DICE, please remove the ability for Faith to pick up/use guns at all! This was the weakest part of Mirror's Edge, and the game was clearly meant to be played without them. Just force the subject and have her ignore them always to make players solve problems with her alone.

The game was always built with the idea of having guns. The problem is that they threw away all of the cool shit they had planned for the gunplay in the initial concept video. Here it is

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7U85Cnkv_Io

It was much more dynamic than what we ended up getting in the final game. It looked much more like what you might see in a Hong Kong action movie. You could dive off buildings and spin around in the air to fire at enemies, hang and fire, and most importantly you could put a gun on your waist to pull out whenever needed. Instead they decided to retool it so that Faith basically becomes immobile whenever she picks up a gun. Guns aren't a problem with ME, nor should they be removed. The problem is simply with how they're handled. They aren't fun because they take away from the movement which is the core of ME's gameplay. But they don't need to interrupt the flow as that concept video shows. They could help with the flow.

Why even bother 'rebooting' when there was nothing in the first game that couldn't easily be ignored anyway if they really had to do so?

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage

The game is special because it took the shootbang that nearly every AAA game was forcing on players and put it in the background, making it optional. It was a fantastic idea and should be stuck with. Enough with the shootbang. It is way, way overdone in this industry.

The guns were fine. If you don't like them ignore them. There is even a trophy for completing the game without firing them.

I just hope they don't make the campaign have linear missions again. Why make a free running game if you're not going to incorporate exploration?

Also, rope swinging.

There were multiple routes even with how linear it was. Besides it was a time trial game which is all about finding the best route and perfecting your way through it.

The "Faith's Face" debate has to be one of the weirdest phenomenons I've ever witnessed in the gaming community. I can't think of a single direction I haven't seen the argument turned in, from too sexy to too plain, from too asian to not asian enough, from realistic to caricature. There was a time when I believed that this:

...was the face of a perfectly believable asian/eurasian woman. Now I've heard so many people saying she's a blackface-esque western caricature of asian features that I'm starting to wonder if I'm just a massive racist for not seeing it.

Looking forward to seeing more at E3, where at least for a little while we can all talk about the actual game. Loved the first one, and they seem to be on the right track with Catalyst.

If you're responding to me, that was the point I was making. You had the option to do just that, which is what made the game great.

What exactly is "Shootbang"? Simply having guns in the game? I'm not talking about turning this into Battlefield. I'm saying that they can keep guns without harming the overall tone of the game. And in fact it could enhance it. You could use the gun to allow Faith to open up different routes in the environment. And this could all be done without her needing to stop running. And the same could happen with combat encounters, because it's clear that there will be combat encounters with armed guards. You could be running along, slide on the ground and shoot the enemies, and get back up and keep moving. All in one fluid motion.

None of that would turn it into a shooter. They could still keep the limited ammo from the original to prevent people from just trying to gun everyone down. Giving Faith more combat options and maneuverability with a gun would enhance the game. Their original concept for guns was the right idea because it kept the heart of what Mirror's Edge is about (fast movement and platformer) in mind. The revamped version that we saw in the final game just threw that all away.

Well they started by showing this:

There was also some nonsense spouted by the devs about creating a realistic nonsexualized character and not a 14 year old boy with implants.
edit: I actually like this art by itself.

I'm down with that. Realistically I'd imagine we'd see more of Faith's actual in-game model this time around as DICE will likely jettison those shitty cartoon cutscenes.

I believe that was in response to the fan art someone made where they added 3 or 4 cup sizes and an anime face.

Yup. People need to go watch some speedruns without glitches to see how creative some of those runs were.

I think a lot of people went through the game once without realizing there were so many different ways to do things to optimize times and such.

Had someone from DICE speaking at my school awhile ago, saying that the visuals from the earlier trailer are already surpassed.

The first game was a masterful symphony of button presses to pull off cool moves with style. The time trials were one of the best aspects of the game, and my biggest fear is that they dumbed this down and will hold players' hands too much for the sake of the dirtiest of dirty words....accessibility :X

Please, PLEASE don't fuck this up EA.
