I miss Taito. They were doing some good DS and XBLA stuff for awhile but seem to have disappeared into the mobile oblivion this gen. And SE doesn't even bother bringing their games west on iOS/Android anymore either.
They're behind FF Dissidia Arcade (and eventual PS4 version too I suppose).

Kinda sorta the same feelings I had as well. Very little to drive my imagination.
While the Frog theme was fantastic, purposely touching a giant nostalgic nerve, it filled me with a touch of sadness that I'll most likely, surprise me somebody, anybody, not be able to capture those glorious moments of 20 years ago.
You know, after a Twitter follower showed me they used the same music for last years E3, makes it easier to deal with lol. Maybe one year.... one year I'll see a new Chrono or Mother game. It freaking sucks that my TWO favorite franchises of all time, are basically dormant and won't get touched again (at least, that we know of). >_<
They used it for a promotional hype video like this one?
Where it's being used is important, I think.

Dang that Chrono Trigger music is awesome. Hard to get excited for bleep bleep and bloop bloop though.

I'm super excited for E3, just not for SE's announcements. They do nothing but disappoint.
Just from Deus Ex, Heavnesward and Tomb Raider there is enough to be excited. They have been doing well in my eyes as of late.
Don't think they will let down with the rest

I'm almost 100% sure it's just teasing a port of Chrono Trigger. Not a project with much effort put into it.

-There's no hints of this but a FFXII HD would be cool.

And for those of you who mentioned Bravely Second, it was shown in the last Nintendo Direct, I believe. Probably being published by Nintendo again.

I've been watching this industry since the 90's. This is the strongest push I've ever seen for a Square or Enix conference. While one might believe it can only end in failure, I do believe they're pushing it for a reason. Should be a sight for sure.
Regardless of Verendus, I think the context isn't that farfetched.
I can easily see Square Enix pull some ambitious projects to return to the old days after the struggles they went through the last few years.
I think they are returning to form, 2015's SE is clearly much improved over SE XIV 1.0.
The communication for XV is a pretty huge leap for SE on it's own.
Imagine if the reason for the FF7 PS4 port was due to language barriers.
"The fans want to play FF7 on a new generation, they want to relive the experience with the new technology, a new generation of fans"
"They do? Great, let's put FF7 on PS4, then they can play FF7 on the new generation".
Then they realised they wanted a HD remake and that's why the port has gone silent...

If this ends up being a fantastic show for SE I'll still be sad because FFXV won't be there. I honestly don't understand, how big of a difference could two months make where you can't show the game at the biggest video game conference of the year?
Gamescom is pretty big these days, and Im hoping it's because they have a lot to show at E3

maybe they are not ready yet to show the new material.
The marketing campaing for this game will start in August with the gamescom...From that point on, im expecting new videos about gameplay, the towns and cities, driving with the car, optimized gameplay with magic......
Since the game will probably release in Q3-Q4 2016, they will another E3 show to focus on FF15

Sure.. It is the strongest push because it is their first E3 conference. But it may just be that their Eidos side has finally earned its own conference to promote its big games as central (or Just Cause 3) and the Square legacy is merely along for the ride.

I thought the trailer was amusing tbh. I also feel like this should be a good conference. It seems like square has been getting back to form with 14 reborn and the 15 feedback. Seems like they're really trying again.

Obviously they feel they can make a better presentation that will get more attention a couple months on. Would you rather they show a bunch of rushed and poorly edited footage that gets lost in the crowd?
