Multiple independent sources reporting FFVII remake for PS4

Sure they can announce it with a CG trailer but people will only have themselves to blame if they think the game would be released in less than 4 years.

I think someone confused the port or this is one of the longest trolls I have seen where they went in December making an ass out of themselves for making a big deal of a port and now they are playing it as a remake'
Only way its possible is that they got such negative feedback on the port they decided to do the remake which means you would not see this for years.

We've had instances where the term 'remake' was pretty much reaching, like Tactics Ogre. If you can't tell at first glance that it's not a port, then it's not a remake.

Yeah, I really doubt this for this year. Sony and Square can co-fund the game which would be beneficial for both companies since the budget on something like this would reach GTA levels (if not higher).

The mindshare of this thing has been undeniable ever since they teased us with that PS3 demo so many years ago... we all know this would be their biggest selling game of all time, even being a remake. FFVII is possibly the worst-aged title of the franchise (visually, duh), so giving it a full facelift is totally justified.
I don't feel they should break the bank making it though. It doesn't need to look as good as XIV or XV visually. I'd be happy if it looked like an up-scaled PS3 game when complete. Something that could run at 60fps / 1080p without issue. Not something that'll run at 24fps and struggle to hit 30fps like XV will. (Heck, even XIV on PS4 can hit 60fps or close to it at times).
Make it fast, make it cheap. It will sell no matter that. Just do it. I want to replay this game, but not in its current form. And new players would be a hard sell on the old look.

Funny thing is that I don't even want the remake anymore. SE is dead to me. I think many agree. But... it still generates hype for E3.
