GamesBeat posted a link to Sili's article but also confirmed via Twitter they had their own sources.
Destructoid hasn't said where their source is.

Agreed. This is getting hot and heavy at such a critical time. Even moreso than TLG which atleast Sony has had to continually confirm is still in development.
They published in NA and EU I think, Square did themselves in Japan.

A remake in the vein of Advent Children would be such an unbelievable disappointment.
That movie was representative of everything that has gone wrong with Square and caused their massive drop off in relevance and impact over the last generation.
Emphasis on incoherent garbage storytelling with nonexistent characters, and over designed, sterile shit character redesigns. Absolutely no relation to the original work and empty, humorless, angst in place of quirky charm.
An advent children inspired remake would sell considerably less than the original game has sold and at significantly higher cost. Honestly, even a competently handled remake that respects and celebrates the original work would have a hard time making back the investment of a modern budget.

And they probably still do in some way (even despite the PC releases), since even years later they were still the ones publishing Advent Children.

What we need is FF IX and FF XII love.
Not me. I'd much prefer a more detailed version of the original cutscene/package art design for him. There's a massive stylistic incongruity between AC Cloud and some of the stuff that takes place in FFVII.
