Damn, this really impacts me. Really shows how much that meant to him. *getting misty eyed*

I'll never forget how it felt today, and these GT reaction video/gifs will always remind me. I'm glad GT allows their staff to do what they want.

The thing I like about this one is the real-time transformation from snarky youtube cynic to blubbering child-like joyful gamer.

I like how it seemed he got more snarky cynic after the FF7 showing like there was nothing left after this, everything else will get lost to even care and then BAM! Sony drops the Shenmue 3 nuclear bomb, lol.

Every single one of these butted my gut.

Every HOLY FUCKING SHIT has just put me in a coma. I am so dead. Thanks for the reactions, let me bring my ass to sleep.

I hope Square realizes they were sitting on a gold mind and they totally underestimated how hype the fans were waiting for this.

I couldn't take listening to someone like Jeff over @GB or be around people that feel so disinterested in what is going on. E3 is very much a performance and a celebration. And I get there is things to be cynical about. But I don't want that when watching E3.

You know you're on an internet, video game message board called NeoGAF, right? I suggest you steer away from any and all general conference threads, because you'll be absolutely swimming in it in them. Whatever bubble of optimistic threads you've wrapped yourself in, the actual dumping grounds of general threads has you covered in cynicism in spades.

I imagine people take more stock in what talking heads have to say so their words have more weight to people, but all things being equal, there's absolutely no distinction between the passive aggressive quips there and the posters telling people to get off the stage here. Hell, even that GAF twitch chat couldn't have saved you.

Two polar opposites - emotionally overwhelmed and brought to tears, and absolutely over the moon

Man this E3 was my best E3 experience. I loved watching these reactions, and I thought I couldn't even care for a FF7 remake anymore.

It's funny that we've been conditioned and trolled so much by Square Enix regarding FF7 remake that people couldn't even believe it was real until the world Remake showed up on the screen. From the real time Aerith PS2 video to PS3's FF7 City + Aerith tech demo, and so on FF7 Remake kept being implanted in our minds as some kind of promise that would never happen.

Really, Sony timed this conference perfectly. 7 Remake, then something in between to lull people back into being civilized, then you drop Shenmue 3. Masterful.

Amazing how many variations of "pls SE don't do this to me" are in every video, lol.

Heads up: the reason that the GB guys didn't react to the FF7 / Shenmue / etc. reveals is because they aren't fans of those games. There's been discussion on the Bombcast / elsewhere for years on how they understand that there's fan fervor for them, but they don't share it.

Go back and watch the reaction to the Super Ultra Dead Rising etc. reveal, or Jeff's response to the FMV stuff this year in Need For Speed. They're passionate, they love games, but they've never been interested in these specific, long-awaited titles.

i enjoy giant bombs level headedness and listening to their issues after the conference put some things in perspective, which is what i can depend on from them. i probably wouldnt watch them talk over it live instead of watching by myself

gametrailers just seems like live cringe on screen. even as someone who likes particular reaction videos

You cringe at FF7 remake and Shenmue 3 announcements?

Everyone saying "don't do this", can't afford to get burned one more time, and then they realize that it's real.

I love these kinds of reaction videos. It's great to see people get this hype about games.

That being said, I prefer Giant Bomb's more measured approach to everything as it's closer to how I look at games. I'd rather have more realistic expectations for games than to constantly be in a cycle of extreme hype, mild to extreme disappointment because the game could never live up to that hype, followed by extreme hype for the next thing. Maybe it just comes with being older and having seen so many things that should have been awesome just crash and burn.

Plus it's ok not to care about FF7.

Yah this is exactly why I continue to listen to Giantbomb week by week and find them incredibly interesting to listen to. I think crazy passion-filled reactions, while they can have their place, I have no interest to engage in. I end up scoffing at people who legitimately go crazy and cry and whatnot over announcements like these because it just seems to childish to me. No fun allowed or whatever you want to say but it just seems so weird to be *that* reactionary about something that isn't on a level like having a child or extremely personal.

Anyway, that's just my dig at passion stuff but I legitimately love Giantbomb's measured approaches and discussions with everything. For example, I loved that they actually weren't extremely vitriolic about the whole Kojima/Konami debacle and discussed it reasonably. Just one reason why I like them.

Also I give 0 shits about FF7 or Shenmue 3 and maybe 1/2 a shit about The Last Guardian.

WTF? Who would wach a major E3 conference live by watching a group of people watching it staring back at you and talking over it? What planet am I living in? People can get so fucking weird....

I watched them talk over the EA/Ubi shows because I knew those were going to be boring and predictable.

Agree completely.

Someone needs to take all these reactions and cut them together into one big chronologically overlapping video full of joy and happiness.
By god, those reactions are amazing!

This is a great thread. Can't wait to add more from Nintendo's Digital Event tomorrow.

A few more from a YouTube search

I love this one. Dude goes on a crazy rant in awe from the FF7 reveal, even mutes the stream to talk, and then Shenmue shows up on screen and he instantly shuts up, volume back on. That second or two of complete silence is where you know he's thinking "holy fucking shit are you kidding me?"

Jeff is a business owner and approaches things with the mindset of a business owner. Often insightful but also just super grounded in reality + his tastes in games are just weird.

Brad is just clueless.

First thing that comes to my mind is how accepting they were of the xbox one drm policies.

Giantbomb commentary is better when the press conferences are just really bad, it's easy for them to take a dump on it then. This year the conferences have been surprisingly good though.

It's like watching the conferences with your friends. :p

But seriously they didn't talk over everything. They just made a couple comments here and there unless it was a train wreck.

If you don't already like/know the people on the show I can understand not getting into it, but I like GT and after this conference I love these guys/gal and their genuine passion for games.

I never had that reaction either but I bet some people did have that extremely personal experience when they were younger and that's why you're seeing lots of emotion being evoked here.

Two polar opposites - emotionally overwhelmed and brought to tears, and an absolutely over the moon reaction from a guy with Sephiroth tattoo

God damn this is so beautiful. That a game is so fucking iconic that can bring a grown man to tears that way. Its not just the game itself for us fans, its the memories. When FF7 came out for many people it was an important part of their lives. It may sound like hyperbole but its not. For many of us FF7 was the first game that truly made us realize how incredible this storytelling in games can be. To this day I remember my first time playing through FF7.

Its an ICON

No lie man, I cried a bit too when they announced this and I'm in no way ashamed to admit it.

Why is everyone so mad over Giant Bomb not caring about FF7? you guys crack me up, heh.

Don't necessarily care, but they responded to everything with an "eh". Not to say they're super-cynical only, for example, Jeff Gerstmann was incredibly enthusiastic about Mario Maker

Do you feel the same way about sports?

Brad made everyone shut up so he could pay super attention to the Destiny trailer.

Being on the team that wins the olympics or world cup and crying makes perfect sense.

Being completely unrelated to said person and then having a deep emotional reaction is weird to me. As is national pride and all that jazz.
