I'd rather deal with that than listen to Jap Rise and Teddie. It seems the Japanese version will feature the same awkward phrases and sounds within the track

Also those clapping sounds are kinda...... annoying

I...... might gonna skip this game since it's $60 here in Canada.... not exactly liking what I see for this game right now.

So far I'm also not very excited for the game. Not sure if it even comes to EU and importing means I can't really use DLC. The music is cool but it doesn't scream "must-have" to me. Also fuck Atlus tax

Yeah, funny how I was very excited for it solely because I can finally see the p4 cast in proper 3d models.

However I'd really rather watch the game on YouTube. Usually with rhythm games I expect to have some sort of interaction between beats and the actual track like DJ max or Taiko no Tatsujin, but if at higher difficulties it means more of that clapping sound I really don't know what to think about it.

They do work in japanese since they're talking like normal japanese speaking human beings while translating that you get stuff like "Keep up the good work, Senpai!", "Understood, Rise-chan!"

I don't know of a single rhythm game that doesn't let you change the sound of the inputs.

This is literally physically painful and if you think the dub is fine you're lying to yourself.

Assuming it's not dual audio, if I can't turn off those awful "moans" during the songs I'm gonna have to import
if they don't region lock it.
No but, seriously, messing with a rhythm game during the actual tracks is pure evil.
the dub is amazing and also leagues better than persona's cringe inducing jp dub, though I'm still not getting it until the price goes down to 40 since Atlus and their greedy tax can go fuck themselves

Knowing how rare vita physical games are I might wait for the eventual Atlus blowout sale at $15-20 on the PSN store.

Did a couple PlayStation Mobile video. Probably the last ones as new content is ending.

Run & Dodge Football - Stupid fun
Chiebre - Little too hard to control to be fun
Emil's Task - Action RPG and not bad

Bat King - Simple but fun for $.50
Merry Christmas Lady Santa - Really terrible
Curse of Crescent Isle DX - Pretty good platformer

Also a couple of reviews:

Alien Shooter is real crap.

Stealth Inc 2: A Game of Clones is not as good as the first one and had sequel bloat disease. Still not bad but I would recommend the first one.

As is are there any Arcade racers on PS4? By this I mean games like the PS360 NFS Hot Pursuit.
I don't consider Driveclub an arcade racer since it is more akin to GT when it comes to car handling.

Rivals is great. It's sort of a cross breed of Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted -- MW style open world feel and world, but HP style upgrades/takedowns/cop stuff.

I highly recommend turning off 'online' as the first thing you do until you're up to speed... the game, by default, has solid 'drop in' style online and the problem is that when you're still getting adjusted really good cops are going to come in and bust you and you'll feel like you're not getting anything done. So... turn that off.

You can still use Paypal, but they changed how it works. Instead of just putting in your Paypal details every time, you now need to link your Paypal account to your PSN account like how you would your bank card.

It's super shitty, because Paypal used to be much better than just leaving your bank details on your account but now it works pretty much the same...

It's quite likely Paypal forced the changes for some reason. I don't know this for sure, I just know they've got some odd rules here and there in terms of how you can interface with them and they like to change them on occasion. Plus there's all sorts of rules about how they can act legally due to their money handling that can change, too.

How is this even BEARable.

"He is supposed to sound like that" or "This is what the dev and actor intended" doesn't make up for my bleeding ears. At least no one in the dubs ever made me want to find character specific mute buttons

Thank god for Arena to turn off the navigators so I can listen to Elizabeth as Miyukichi

Yeah that's not any better. I kind of hope the voices can be turned off completely. They don't really do anything for me in a rhythm game. If you aren't singing the song, shut up

No, Megumi Ogata voices the MC, Nobuyo Ooyama (Doraemon) voices Monokuma. But yeah, dubgaf says the same things about japanese monokuma and japanese kuma.

Ahh I see, sorry for the mixup.

Edit: If this is what Monokuma sound like in the game then I'm fine with it, JP Teddie is just one of the kind bad for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1LrluKG9uI.

Wait, he shares the same JP VA with Doraemon? That's fine by me.

JP Teddie/Rise is also the reason why I liked playing P3P undubbed, English Fuuka in the original is just bad, so, so very bad. Fuuka doesn't seem to be well received in both the west and Japan, at least I like her VA in Japanese.

In PQ however, that's another story. Fuuka is completely fine in that one.

As someone who enjoyed the dub from Persona 4 Golden, this sounds fine. Granted, the sounds that Yukko makes throughout the song is a bit annoying :l; does that type of thing happen in the Project Diva games too?

Either way, the remix of 'Snowflakes' sounds great and I look forward to checking this out latter this year :).

No, in the Diva games the performers are actually singing and have no time to annoy you like that. The only "extra" sounds there are the input confirmation claps/chimes.

Okay, thanks for the heads up about that :). Granted, the Diva games characters signing is expected considering they are singers, so it should be natural. I wonder if DAN will have the option to turn off the sounds of the in-puts working/not working. Considering Sega is working with Atlus on this, it would be likely to have some of the elements form the Diva tittles in DAN.

Edit: Just wanted to remind you all, Shantae: Risky's Revenge is coming to PlayStation platforms for the first time, with a PS4 version of the game being part of the store update tomorrow. While not the strongest game in the series (that honor goes to Pirates Curse), it still is a great tittle that will make any fan of the Metroid-vanna genre or platformers in general very happy :D. I personally hope this means a Vita version is not far behind (as it shouldn't be impossible to run on Vita in the slightest, considering the tittles DSi-Ware origins).

I don't know if any of you even heard of the series before, but I really loved the 3DS tittle 'Pirates Curse', so I am very happy to see the series find a new home on PlayStation after mainly being Nintendo exclusive for so long :).

The series has some great soundtracks, so I will post links to them here for anyone interested:
Shantae GBC
Shantae: Risky's Revenge
Shantae: Pirates Curse

The series is also getting its first HD tittle through Half Genie Hero this fall on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Wii U and even the Vita! So if you enjoy Risky's Revenge, more tittles in the series will be coming to PlayStation at some point (Risky's Revenge landing on PS4 tomorrow with little fan-fare really makes me think that Pirates Curse will come not that long after).

RR is more than a little disappointing. It was sold as the game, well, that Pirate's Curse ended up being. It's short and bland. Don't get me wrong, it's still got the Shantae charm and isn't completely unfun but it's the weakest in the series. Wait for a sale if you're interested.

So far from this DAN stream I'm watching (http://www.twitch.tv/hamayama)

- The game has more talking than dancing. Much more. I didn't even know that it had some kind of story mode. Guess you have to justify their dancing somehow EDIT: Seriously VN levels of talking
- The mid-song exclamations are more bearable in japanese because at least there I don't understand what they're saying. I still hope they can be turned off but they're so prevalent that I'm worried they aren't
- The songs and the actual dancing are still cool. Like so good that I'm almost sold on the game again

and this is weird

There are people that dislike the japanese Monokuma? Insanity. English Kuma (as well as most of the dub, really) is good as well, but just lacks that last bit of over-the-topness that makes the game even more ridiculous.

DAN looks worse to me every time I see it. Fanservice/Animation stuff is still top, I'm only moderately happy about the music, but an extensive story mode was already shit in Arena and probably won't be much better here and if you really can't mute characters I'm out until the next Atlus sale.

Maybe this will sell you on P4 DAN :3

and here is the same song from the E3 demo (Snowflakes) with japanese voices
http://www.twitch.tv/hamayama/b/671656794?t=3h1m50s
much better tbh

New NIS Vita horror game, October 29th in Japan.

Also Atelier PSV/PS3/PS4, anyone?
It's great that they're releasing it on all platforms from the start now. But I can't really get excited for Atelier announcements since I'm so far behind in the series and will never catch up at this point.

Interesting thanks, I'll see if I can snag a used copy for cheap by trading in Driveclub.
Or is it on sale on EU or US PSN by any chance?

Wow four games in a day:
Atelier Sophie
God Eater Resurrection
Punchline
Yomawari

I'm quite certain of the atelier dropping on the western shores, the others might need a divine intervention.

Almost bought the original psp game yesterday to give the series a shot. Kinda glad I held off on it. Will be interesting to see how this develops.

So I'm thinking about importing a vita Gundam game for a friend who loves the series as a birthday present. Which one would you guys recommend?

God Eater thing sounds like good news. More willing to try it after Freedom Wars. I think it's Monster Hunter I don't like, rather than Hunting Games.

2 good news :)
I knew that nis games was for vita, but i didn't expect at all to see an atelier game on vita at d1.

from the other thread

I'm actually really glad they're not doing the "improved port on Vita later" thing since I'd rather play on home console but also don't want to play the inferior version. Atelier is kind of analysis paralysis central though so I haven't touched the series at all yet.

I find myself posting less and less here.
hope you guys are doing well

hang in there VitaGAF

Maybe because everyone and their mother is only releasing games in fall. I've mostly been off gaf for assorted reasons though
only a few posts a day is totally "off gaf" for me

Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone here had experience importing games at a reasonable price?

Specifically, I'm looking for an Asian English physical version of Final Fantasy X-2 for vita. I've looked on playasia but it's out of stock/print and couldn't find English versions on ebay. Apart from those two, I don't really know where else to look :p

Would appreciate any help!

Hi guys,
Would appreciate any help!
There's some asia-based vitabros here that might help you. They'll have to scour the local shops and then ship it to you. Depending on your location + the game's price it might be a little bit steeper than usual.

I'm also here in asia, but work + school makes me go out so early in the morning and then too late in the evening.

I always check amiami, playasia (very rarely the best) and ebay. For older games that aren't on eBay I wouldn't know where to look though. There's some japanese auction sites but they're often very hard to use without knowing the japanese title for what you want (I guess FF is probably the same title though). Maybe Buyee? I don't know what the case you need looks like but these seem to be it

Even Buygame2 have it back ordered now. You might've missed the boat unfortunately.

However, keep an eye on that site too - I've used them before to get my copy of Oreshika, absolutely no problems whatsoever.
