I agree. Juri and Abel are the standout SFIV characters IMO. (Though I don't particularly care for Juri.)
Even if Abel doesn't make it into the initial roster, I'm sure he'll be in V eventually. Especially with his presumed connection to Charlie.

I wouldnt mind having new takes on characters like Dalshim or Zangief, but theres something to be said for their potential new uses with V tech.
Most excited about new characters though, wish more of the roster was (even if Nash, Bison and Birdie technically are)

If that leak is true, I'll be pretty happy with the starting roster. Though I wished
were either Alpha, 3 or SFIV characters instead since they are already in SFIV and there's already 4 of them in the roster. I love SF2 characters to death but the starting roster should be more fresh than a rehash of SFIV again. More excited to hear about the 4 new characters and hope they'll show one soon enough.

Something I wish fans would talk about more is the stages. I never felt there was enough in any of the SF4 games and some really good locations need to be revisited. And there are plenty of exotic and historical locations around the globe that haven't been visited yet.

1) Didn't Verendus confirm Ken is not in? It seems like its way to late for Ken to be revealed. I was expecting E3 reveal to be his last chance.
2) Wasnt Oro semi-confirmed because he was part of the SF5 line figurines
3) Seems pretty grappler heavy Birdie,Alex,Mika,Gief
I'd place my bets more on Maki over Mika , she fills in three checkmarks a) Final Fight character b) Run Character c) New to the series (previously only in CvS and GBA port of A3)
It's bullshit- the list of 8 vets doesn't have Birdie/Cammy. Only 6 more non-boss/hidden characters are making the initial roster.
I'm pretty sure that it's Viper on the left (Black w/ red highlights- hard to be anyone else, unless it's a newbie), and on the right, which is Red and White, it's almost certainly a Japanese character. Oro's a possibility, as the merchandising theory for him and Alex seems likely to be dead on. Adult Sakura would be fantastic.
And if the two banners in the UK stage are hints- we have a Final Fight rep, and the 4th newbie is from Germany and Ice-themed.
edit: Oh crap, Maki's outfit is Red/White and she's Japanese? Big chance of her being revealed next.

It amuses me to no end to have people say they want mostly new characters while others are saying bring back Ken.
Oh man, now I'm really starting to feel Oro/Alex's return! SFIII's characters were the best batch, IMO, but only Dudley and Makoto seemed to catch on (Well, Yang, Yun, Elena and Hugo, now, too). I'd be so happy to see these 2 return, with an SFIII reunion in the inevitable SUPER Edition!
As for the whole "Face of SFIV" debate raging here, this is how I see it.
1.) Abel was supposed to be the face of SFIV.
2.) In MvC, where they wanted an SFIV rep that looked able to go toe-to-toe with super heroes, they felt that Viper fit the bill better. However, this, plus a more interesting character design, made her more popular than Abel, but...
3.) With the fans, Juri became the hands-down favorite. By the time the SFIV series was finished, Capcom was wholeheartedly aware of this, so she became its new "face" character (And is thus now more likely to show up in crossovers than Abel or Viper).
Oh man, I can only hope! I know that Capcom's done stuff for SFxT and Marvel vs. Capcom, so it'd be fantastic if they reveal someone there. Plus, I'm going to be there for it! I don't care if it's just Zangief; I'm going to be there, I'm going to get hype, and I'm going to get as much of the free, promo stuff as I can carry.

The roster that sucked so bad that when half of them were reintroduced in IV everyone loved them. The other half are some of the most asked for characters for V outside of the original 2 cast. What part of that roster sucked?

Tekken did a roster refresh with Tekken 3 and it went on to be the best selling fighting game of all time outside of the Smash franchise. It's all about execution.
Tekken 3 also had a bunch of characters returning as well as some of the replacements having very similar movesets to previous characters. It wasn't exactly a roster refresh.
To be honest, I'm glad they changed his name from Charlie to Nash for the U.S.
Nash sounds a lot better.

I think another point that gets lost is that there were only two years between Tekken 2 and a Tekken 3 (part one food exist to most people). Most Tekken fans didn't have the same chance to get attached like they did in the six year gap between SF2 and SF3.
Also, the Tekken 3 characters also looked very much like their predecessors. Visually Law, King, and Julia are the no different than the characters they replaced. Jin and Hwoarang were just Kazuya and Baek with different haircuts.

But i don't think he confirmed anything, he just doesn't like Ken. Thats all.

Maybe more Alpha character may return this time around? Perhaps Rolento or Karin, the former so Sakura can relive her rivalry. Can't forget about Dan though, joke characters are always welcome. Perhaps they should change his outfit a bit so he doesn't look like a pink Ryu with a ponytail.
