SSB for 3DS & U - Tourney Mode, Youtube Replay DLC Stages and Mii Costumes (K. Rool)

If it's fake. I want to see how the faker created an in-engine screenshot with proper lighting, shadows and ripped models that are frame perfectly posed, with proper cloth physics applied and managed to either recreate perfectly or rip Link's particles and apply them at the exact frame they appear.

Like, I can't even wrap my head around how they'd manage to fake this. Those Link particles are at the exact place they are supposed to be at that exact frame in the animation. There's no artifacts on the particles at all, those are the exact particles. And the characters can't be photoshopped from another stage screenshot because not only do they have proper shadows with no artifacts, but they have lighting that is also consistent with not only themselves, but with the stage itself.

I can't

If it's fake it's easily one of the most impressive video game fakes of all time just for the ridiculous attention to detail and the ability to recreate certain graphical parts of the game 100% perfectly or entirely recreating the Smash 4 engine.

ITT: People who apparently don't understand that Sakurai does whatever the fuck he wants.

Time and time again the same posters are talking out of their ass and declaring what Sakurai will do, yet the only person who knows what Sakurai will do is Sakurai.

Remember when people were saying that Sakurai said "no fighting game characters" or "only one rep for 3rd parties?"

Then Ryu came out, showing people that those "rules" are not hard and fast but are up to the whims of Daddy Sakurai.

smh

oh and i already know one who swears his words are the holy gospel, and its not ozzy.

I just don't understand why somebody with the talent to create a fake of this magnitude would bother with a Dr. Mario stage instead of something more controversial or exciting.

It's the particles that get me. Those can't be ripped at all as far as I know. Meaning he'd have to either manage to absolutely 100% perfectly edit a screenshot that's posed exactly the same with exactly the same camera angle and then pose his Link model at the exact location at the exact frame, or he managed to 100% perfectly recreate the particles and measure exactly what frame they appear and at what location and run the simulation. And even if he did rip them. They're frame perfect, or as close to frame perfect as I could see from trying to pause around that time.

Literally nobody is going to do that. Not when they can put the character in whatever pose they want and just pick one without particles. Link doesn't need to be using his bow in the screenshot. Link doesn't even need to be in the screenshot at all! And yet he is.

Well, it seems pretty real to me. So now I gotta ask...why leak it? Only two days from the reveal. No attention to gain from it. Nothing earth shattering.

Like, why wouldn't they leak the K Rool costume instead if they wanted to get a reaction out of the internet?

I noticed something when I was talking about the potential of a new DLC character with a friend. I brought up how I thought the time from Mewtwo's public release to the 3 June DLC characters release should be somewhere close to the time of the 3 June DLC characters release to this Friday.

It turned out that the time in between Mewtwo's public release and the 3 June DLC characters release was 47 days apart. It also turned out that the time in between the 3 June DLC characters release and the July 31st update is also 47 days.

I don't think this means much but it still gets me excited.

This is a very awesome observation. I counted this myself to verify, and you are indeed correct. At the very least, it could be a pattern that this could be the length between when DLC content comes out in general. We'll know for sure, in the next 47 days after July 31st.

They can always break patterns. I for one don't believe we'll be getting dlc characters every two months as some people do, since Mewtwo, but it is possible we could be getting something on Friday. I'm not just expecting it at least. Maybe there will be a notification of a direct tomorrow. We'll see.

Next possible DLC update could be Sept 16 on a Wednesday btw, if I counted right(47 days after July 31st).

Because they couldn't stop crying whenever they looked at the K. Rool image file?

Why leak Roy, Ryu, and the street fighter stage a day before?

That was an accidental upload by official sources-something many hungry leakers had access to. This Doc Mario stage, assuming its real, is someone leaking something they have somewhat exclusive early access too.

Which the same could apply to this one. We don't know. Less than two days away.

Anyway, we're talking about the reason behind iwhy people would leak it. And I say, why not? My point being is that roy and ryu got leaked at the last minute, so its easy to say that dr mario stage and possibly more could be too, because people out there would if they had the chance.

The way the characters are posed and the content of the screenshots seems to point to them being press shots for NoE.

Showing the characters in "dynamic" poses without any real clutter to highlight the stage and another shot to show off some of the music. The stage shot to show off all of the DLC at once.

Just my thoughts on how it might have leaked.

I believe it was the Friday before #MonadoEmblemMonday that we were told about the reveal. And Ryu/Roy was I believe the week before E3.
The Ryu/Roy data was found immediately after the Mewtwo patch, but the actual footage with footage of them were leaked a day before the E3 Smash video.

Not to mention, times that with FOUR screens.

And again to *hatchtags... We don't know if the upcoming patch/update was already accidentally posted as well. And even if its not, who cares who the source is? Finally, LOTS OF PEOPLE would love to discover/leak things when they have the chance, because human curiosity.

We can assume the patch wasn't put up because there are people who monitor that shit like a hawk. How do you think the last one's update got noticed when it went up at random?

It's probably press shots or something. Maybe there was a press event for the Splatoon and Smash updates.

And yeah, lots of people would love to leak things-but they also don't like to break NDAs, and it seems likely that whoever seen this early would've had to sign one.

Knowing that it was true ahead of time made reading some responses even more hilarious.
So many people wound up seeing those tiny videos before they went public through a network of people telling other people privately that the majority of people discussing it were probably well aware it was true a couple days before it became obvious.

To be fair, we only knew for sure we were getting Lucas until the Direct popped up the next day confirming Ryu and Roy were also coming out the same day. Leaking it early wasn't a bad thing.

I'm thinking the Dr. Mario stage is real for now.

Smash-GAF will be hired by Nintendo to design Smash 5 by committee

Good. Finally, they'll understand why Popeye should be in Smash Bros. They'll all understand.

Speaking of the ESRB leak...can anyone believe it's been nearly a year since then?!?

Oh wow. When that first happened, I had just moved here. Time really does fly...

Glad to see Nintendo remembers Wart exists.

... Man, what if K. Rool's just a costume, but we do get Wart.

Ryu and Roy were leaked by people who data mined a patch that Nintendo pushed out. Whoever leaked the Dr. Mario stage is probably risking their job or somebody else's. Not really comparable.

Nintendo actually didn't push the patch out. They had the patch on their servers, ready to be pushed out, and people used a program that periodically looks there for data and found that stuff.

It's still dumb, but not nearly as dumb.

Someone brought this up on reddit but hmmm

I was looking at the King K. Rool Mii costume and realized that the style it is based off is the retro version of King K. Rool rather than his trophy which is based off his modern design. See image below for examples...
Ho14PAh.jpg

What is interesting is that all other Mii costumes that also have trophies like Proto-man and Dunban are almost identical in design and the assets are taken from the trophies (though their size and shape were changed in order to match the Miis shape... also note that some elements have been altered for some like K.K. Sliders head) So I wonder why would they make a custom Mii costume from scratch when they could have just modded the trophy like they have done in the past.... (perhaps the costume's assets are taken from King K. Rool's playable model?)

probably nothin tho.

There are a couple other differences between the old and modern K. Rool that the Mii costume brings to light--the Mii costume lacks claws on its fingers and has no visible nostrils, just like his original design. It is weirdly specific in its design in a strange fashion, but that just could be because they wanted to make the costume "special," as a nod to the ballot.
