Maybe it's time to create some script that changes Derek Smart references to the 'Our Lord Savior Derek Smart who Defiantly Battles the Unholy Game That Is Star Citizen', maybe then I'll at least have a laugh out of the guy.

I wouldn't be surprised if DS had a script like that himself to further boost his ego. ;)

Batteries the CRISIS!
Download crapped out on me sometime during Saturday morning, and I didn't have time to try again until last night. I'm at work now and my girlfriend confirms that it's finished ... took about 12 hours. I'll have to give it a whirl when I get home this evening.

Think my i5-2500k and 7850 is going to explode might have to turn on the old Xbox settings, low at 900p...

This makes me fear for my i5-760 and 7870...

Better to take the high road and not give him the attention he so desires.

I agree, but CIG has shown that they're pretty devoted to making not-so-subtle jabs at EA. I think that it works in that context, as they were originally positioning themselves as the little guy...but at this point, they're too big of a target themselves.

Except that EA is just a badly managed company, not a troll desperate for attention.

So, I installed the newest update (1.2 I think).

I went into my hangar to look around and my camera was floating around really weirdly and my asdw keys weren't working and neither were my arrow keys.

I hooked up a controller, and had similar results...just a really weird floating camera that seemed like I was in debug mode or something. I could move and look different directions..although without great control. But something was definitely wrong.

Did I do something wrong. Anyone know what the problem is?

I am not sure, but try deleting your user folder: as per these instructions´,

What the fuck

I've tried to get up the elevator four times in a row, and it times out each time

How do they not have enough servers to serve all their backers? The number of people who would connect is a known quantity, it should be possible to predict adequate server bandwidth.

CIG knows, they've mentioned before that there should be more than enough room on the servers. It's a bug that they're trying to fix.

Star Citizen patcher is not a fucking joke. I've been downloading MGS 5 with 14mb/s, then i launched a patcher and now MGS is downloading at hyper 56kb/s xD.

Did you click update to apply the 8mb speed limit?

When I downloaded the game at 17 MB/s during the free gamescom week, I couldn't browse GAF or even open google. Had to use the 4G on my phone! :D

Look at this! This is hilarious :D
CS:GO GPU utilization on High settings and 1600x900

Star Citizen launcher GPU utilization

GPU = GTX 970

Couldn't it be background noise from other stuff? 20% still seems low. Also, what's that pass word doing around there? I hope you have already changed it ;).

After 10 failures to enter Planetside last night (plus several instances of the elevator panel telling me the servers were full), I gave up.

Tried again this morning ... after three more failures, I finally got in, much to my surprise. At that point I couldn't run around for long because I had to get to work, but I checked out the bar, the Jobwell room, the medical center and the incinerator behind the bar. Pretty cool. I hope I'm able to get back in so I can check out the rest of the map. That chat text is damn tiny, though.

My FPS in the hangar (whatever the old Business Hangar is called now, with an Aurora, a Hornet and an Avenger in it) ranged between 20 and 30. When I stepped out into ArcCorp's central area and looked at that big gear sphere thing, my FPS were at 9, haha. Running around Planetside, my FPS usually were between 15 and 20, with occasional moments of 30, like when I was walking down the stairs upon first entering Jobwell but before rounding the corner and seeing the whole big room. My CPU, a quad-core i5-760 2.8 ghz, ran at 75 degrees C with a stock fan, which I don't think is too bad, considering. I have a Radeon 7870 with 2 GB of VRAM, by the way. So I'm glad I can run the module at all with my modest specs, even if it became a bit of a slideshow at times.

Lol, amazing fail. Changed.
Dequote it please :) / edit thanks :)

And no, its only launcher's utilization :)

Had a stroll through the module before. Drop dead gorgeous but obviously incomplete. It's really starting to come together

It's a bug. Other people are having the same trouble.

I deleted the user folder and it did nothing.

Can't be a full one. Full would require procedural generation like ED, and that's a ways off IIRC. Like most things in SC, it's probably v1.0. ;P

Mentioning procedural generation and Star Citizen in the same sentence. *smh*

We've had people banned for far less, my dear Zalu.

Not sure what Roberts meant, probably all the so far known (crafted) star systems.

Well, without having a context, "full" in that sentence would imply a map containing all stars in the game to me. Probably those systems planned for release at least.

What else would "full" mean in a game with a "hand made" world, like Star Citizen?

Also, @Zabojnik source? Not everyone follows all possible channels for Star Citizen information permanently, so having a source link handy would be nice.

Latest 10 For The Bossman. He doesn't actually say 'full star map', but it's kinda implied.

"... we're finishing up the star map, which is another thing we'll be sharing with you guys at CitizenCon, and I think you guys will really like it, it's pretty damn impressive."

Maybe he means the working implentation of the star map code? So how you can look around and choose somewhere to travel to as opposed to the actual systems.

He probably just means the map. The layout of the explorable galaxy. That doesn't require systems to be built or procedural generation to be implemented (procedural generation is only for fleshing out planet surfaces, anyway, based on what they've said, unless I missed something where they're going to use it to create entire systems).

I'm really glad they're FINALLY showing us the damn map. We had glimpses between that prototype 3D map room and the pegboard that was in the background of episodes of Wingman's Hangar, but the layout allegedly has changed since then. It's easier to imagine what you'll do in the game when you can look at a map. It's nicer to read about places (in the fiction and otherwise) when you can see where they fit in the grand scheme of things on a map. I want the damn map.

Wait...so I can post a link to my youtube channel where I will save my social module walkthrough, but I can't post my twitch channel? I only have two videos on it.

Not even going to link to it.
