New Star Wars Battlefront Coverage (Oct 5)

Yeah, no, the token system for vehicles are too derpy derp for me. Was interested in it until that came out.

(vehicles spawn from tokens, you only have so much time before you despawn in a vehicle, no matter if you die or not.The tokens are also always in the same spot.)

I thougt you had to ear vehicles/heroes.

If they are just tokens...get ready for a bunch of guys just standing about camping them and not playing the objectives.

Devs need account for shitty player behaviour when they design games.

I've been Alpha testing a few games and I can say Battlefront is a complete mess and is broken. Considering that their deadline for the game is in a few weeks and they still haven't fixed the majority of the in game problems let alone the connection problem me and other testers were having, yes it's going to be a mess. And even a day 1 patch won't fix all of them, I don't know too much outside what I played, but the game is indeed rushed and it's all because of Episode 7 releasing this December.

And in retrospect I also tested black ops 3 which even though it had many problems, it was no where as bad as Battlefront.

he posted other stuff in that thread that made it obvious he actually was testing the game, or at least was a qa tester--he mentioned how games being tested are given arbritary project names and you don't find out what they are until the session begins, he summed up some details about his NDA that lines up with the NDAs given to qa testers, etc.

That hero gameplay, was he killing actual people or AI? easy 8-10 kills if I am not mistaken. How is that fun?

It's not about fun, it's about sales from casual gamers/star wars fans. "PLAY AS VADER". Sales. Think about this as a timely licensed game. Just prettier than usual.

If it the game is as broken as he says, it doesn't make sense for DICE to showcase an Open Beta (aka Demo) this close to release.

If any of those game breaking bugs would appear now, the effect on the sales would be pretty bad, considering the large amount of people that will be playing the next few days and consequent publicity...

Besides, the game has already had a closed alpha and there were no reports of a "broken game" back then.

Not denying this person played the Alpha. But literally everything being shown off recently has looked fine. The footage we just got and the Playstation stream looked great.

The thing obviously people will be wary of is how well the servers hold up

It would actually make more sense. If there are bugs in beta, people would just let it go saying final version will be better. That's the mentality, beta can be broken.

I'm in agreement with most here, the on-foot stuff looks pretty bad, but I always thought the on-foot stuff in most of these was whatever. I'll wait until the beta or finalized impressions hit, but I'm not going to let my hype subside because of this stuff. I'm mostly in this for the vehicular gameplay and whatnot, so we'll see.

Yea really the vehicular stuff is what's going to matter to me. The on foot stuff is light years ahead of something like warhawk and that turned out more than fine. Still, I think it's fair to remain pessimistic regarding the launch considering DICE's past. It's up to them to change the script.

we've been seeing bits and pieces of the division for more than two years now and it's mostly looked completely fine. but i can say for a fact
it was still real broken just earlier this year and nowhere near even an early access state

The only game breaking bug in Battlefield 4, on consoles at least, was the campaign save loss. The multiplayer was playable from day one.

Because it was a launch title it's problems are exaggerated.

Not a shred of Xbox one footage. You would think the game didn't even exist for it. Jeesh.

I'll be downloading th beta on both so I guess we will see how it stacks up.

Hmmm I see. Well hopefully only the one source isn't indicative, and maybe different test groups had different builds but who knows. Not sure if I'll be more surprised if it's broken or actually works well at launch.

etta

my hard graphic balls
I'll get the beta on all three platforms, but goddamn, this looks kinda drab. The third person videos are boring, but even the first person ones are pretty meh. It looks like it lacks intensity of battle. Maybe it is just my subconscious because I have my mind set on only two shooters this holiday, Halo and Call of Duty, and really don't want to spend money on a third. Maybe the beta will change my perspective.

The fact the Division has been delayed constantly and wasn't there just a video shown recently and it's still rough inspires little confidence.

With this game of all the footage and previews shown they got to play the same beta we'll be playing in a couple of days. So unless the devs have some super prestige editon and we'll be playing some broken mess. Everything I've seen looks fine.

Again. On launch day the servers could very well be an issue. And again the beta could be a total mess. But I doubt it and even still. I'm glad they are doing a beta. Iron out some bugs, take feedback, prepare servers as best you can.

netcode wasn't great. lots of rubber banding iirc which can be game breaking

It crashed after most MP matches and had serious rubberbanding issues.

Only on Conquest 64 if my memory serves me. 32 player modes worked fine from the start. This is PS4.

Are you fucking kidding me? What is with such vitriol towards this game? You'd rather it not exist at all?

I had battlefield 4 for 360,XB1 and PS4 and The MP rubberbanding was strong in them. The Game in general Crashed a lot and would even give you a error code on PS4.

Conquest was broken on release with consoles. I remember having to play Rush for like a month or two.

No just made by a different developer. I've wanted to play a new Battlefront for a decade, and to be honest this just doesn't look very exciting to me at all. Also,I wouldn't really call my comment "vitriol".

I played this on the weekend at an Expo and it was a big old bag of MEH. None of the weapons felt like they had any punch to them and the shooting itself just felt so bland. If you were to peel back the Star Wars aesthetic, it felt like Medal of Honor or just another shooter.

Apparently the beta is more polished build, so fingers crossed.

After watching some of these videos, I'll definitely be waiting for reviews and player impressions.

This game looks awful

I mean the game may look a little simple gameplay wise but that post is quite hyperbolic.

Having watched the PS live stream last night the game does look a lot more fun than the JackFrags/IGN footage I saw earlier in the day. The beta should be really interesting, I just wish I could pre load it on PS4.

Marvel

could never
I'll be playing in first person, but it would seem this game might night have me hooked for long.

I was kinda hyped for this but after seeing all these videos I'm beginning to have second thoughts... tbh this does not look good at all.

Doesnt look good tbh. Will wait for reviews but probably wont play it at all.
There will be huge competition at the time and i think i will stick to Black Ops 3 and Overwatch.
Both look fantastic.

for the record, the 64-player battles were broken from launch through like March of the next year. and in fact, any match type of 30+ players was prone to hard crashing repeatedly. there was NOTHING exaggerated about how awful BF4's launch was. I should know; I was one of those people frustrated as all hell. I was relegated to playing TDM just so I could play some MP and have some fun.

I'll be playing in first person, but it would seem this game might night have me hooked for long.

If I end up getting it yea, definitely 1st person view here. Watching bad animations in 3rd person view would just piss me the fuck off. I really need to see more of the game play and its variety. I'm really disappointed with what I've seen so far.

Truth is if it wouldnt be star wars nobody would care for this game. The license is strong with this one. It will sell millions regardless how bad the quality is. It´s Star Wars.

Looks bloody terrible gameplay wise. The Hero bit was just shoddy.

Yeah if it wasn't for Star Wars and to some extent the pretty looks, I doubt it would be getting anyone's time of day.

The beta will last all of 5 mins on my HDD if it really plays as crap as it looks.
