PS4 + Star Wars Battlefront ad

You know what the odd thing is. Star Wars manages to get the nostalgia in us, even if we never saw a Star Wars movie or are not interested in the franchise.

I think, (I only watched Ep IV and V), that John Williams and the Art- and Sounddesign are the biggest reason for that. And pop-culture of course.

They're selling you on the feeling of Star Wars so not really. Graphics are good enough that it'd still work (if this was PS2 Battlefront then absolutely not) but it doesn't matter really.
It most likely wouldn't matter, but the in game graphics look really good and should be displayed. Seeing 'Actual Gameplay Footage' could make people think "oh shit, it looks that good!?"

They should show this in the cinema when The Force Awakens comes out. Millions of people are going to see this. The Stars Wars hype is getting big.

This has the potential to become the most successful marketing deal imo. The timing is just perfect.

Those ad slots are probably in hot demand, but yeah, that would be perfect.

haha XD it really hits all the right spots.

I mean I did not like the beta and after watching it I still want to buy it now.

Jesus Christ that's a fantastic ad. There's a 0% chance I'll end up with it at launch (and frankly don't care for Star Wars much anymore), but it's still inspiring.

You: "I hate being at work."
Guy: "We could be fighting at Hoth, RIGHT NOW! FOR REALSIES!"
You: *rushes to buy a PS4 "for your kid"*

Checks out. Damn, picture a new X-Wing vs TIE Fighter for VR. Too niche to get an official use of that license, I'd venture.

The bazillion dollars Sony surely paid for advertising rights are apparently going to good use.

Nostalgia all up in here. Reminds me of this for some reason.

Speaking of which I wonder what movies will be previewed.

I like SW (a lot) but I'm not a huge fan and I don't really like multiplayer games, but this ad, came on!, it almost make me want to buy the game!!

This (with the price cut) is going to sell like hotcakes

The thing that is surprising to me is that Sony is actually selling the BF bundle for 350. Either they had a killer deal with EA or they ain't getting much of a profit margin.

Or the price drop was actually $100 and Sony are currently hiding it under their bundles. Find me one statement from Sony that specifically states a $50 price drop.

Okay that advert totally worked on me. Very clever indeed. I was already buying it but it's incredibly well done. You think this might be the biggest selling game of the year?

It might have had a chance but supposedly COD this year is one of the better ones and actually has hype behind it so it will certainly take the cake. If Activision continued to shit the bed after ghosts then I think this could have been the year another shooter overtakes it.

But talking about other big AAA franchises I think this will annihilate Assassin's Creed.

Hard to see it surpass CoD and Halo 5

You don't think a multi plat Star Wars has a chance against Halo? I really have no clue about sales but I just assumed it would have every chance.

Back on topic. Sony have done well tapping in to people's nostalgia this gen. That whole Playstation 20th thing etc. Works on people's emotions very efficiently

why are so many people just now realising that the game is gonna sell well? of course it is.

great ad. i'll definitely be getting the game, not even a big star wars fan, but just not on PS4 (pc)

Sony, i hope you're ready to sell more PS4's.

Yeah. There isn't a SW movie I like and I still get all warm and fuzzy when I hear the music.

Halo 5 isn't going to surpass Battlefront, maybe not even on Xbox One alone.

Saved for future mockery.

I love Empire, but don't care for any of the others. I played the beta of this game and it was awful. But yeah, the music is what does it. Williams' score is just amazing.

PS4s are retailing at just under $300 in Japan. I suspect that the $350 it going for here is more that the systems are still selling incredibly well rather than manufacturing cost.

Disney is doing a great job at making us forget that Episodes 1-3 ever existed. I'm really looking forward to Episode 7.

I'm also feeling like BF is a bit too pricey at $60 and will quickly drop to $40 or less in various sales leading up to Christmas.

Yeah you aren't even close on bolded part. This is a big year for star wars and nostalgia is huge but Halo is a massive thing to Xbox players and Halo 5 seems to be doing all the right things. Battlefront is gonna sell pretty well on XB1 for a little while but Halo 5 is far more important to the platform in the long run. Its not even close.

As someone who sat there, reading about the new mysterious SW movie in his super hero magazines, someone who can remember when his dad brought home the first SW figure from a business trip...this ad REALLY works well.

Then again I have tried the demo-beta. *plfrrrbt*

Episode 1-3? Never heard of them. I thought The Force Awakens was the fourth movie?

I think it'll turn out that Sony is footing most of the ad bill. That way EA still can sell on all platforms and saves on marketing and Sony gets the mind share. And everyone gets to place the same game experience.

The only reason I say Disney's money is because the star wars ads for Target and Walmart are also nostalgic in a similar way. Maybe Sony is footing the bill or Disney is in charge and paying for certain things. No way to tell without research.
