Black Ops 3 pre-orders are significantly higher than Advanced Warfare

"We have strong momentum indicated by a number of factors, but just to name a few: the growing engagement around the past Black Ops titles; the significant year-on-year lift in pre-orders; consumer sentiment around our marketing assets which is more positive for Black Ops III than any Call of Duty title on record; a great partnership with Sony across consumer, trade and custom PS4 bundles; and our ranking as Neilson's Number One Most Anticipated Title of the Year."

This is interesting, because before Activision said they expected sales to be about the same. Maybe it will actually do better. I still think AW paid for the lackluster game IW delivered the year before.

MP is so much better it's not even funny (that may be why, plus there was a beta that got pretty good reception as far as I know), however I enjoyed the Advanced Warfare single player very much, if Black Ops 3 has a great campaign it's gonna be one of the best CODs ever.

Blops 3 will most certainly be better than ghost and AW because Treyarch is simply a better studio

Both Ghosts and AW were not very well received. Ghosts was boring with bad maps and AW is too chaotic - it's impossible not to die in a match because everyone is jumping around wildly.

Black Ops 2 is considered the last good COD game so obviously the direct sequel to that is getting some of its audience. This is Activision's last chance at reviving the franchise to its former glory.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Well, I was wondering about it after seeing Halo 5 Uk's debut, glad to have an answer (even if not as clear as I hoped).

Well this is one yearly franchise that does not seem to be heading towards irrelevancy...Treyarch keeps bringing it back.

Well of course; Treyarch is the best CoD developer. I fully expect MW4 to sell fewer units then Blops 3 next year.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
Man, I remember years ago when the groupthink was so down on Treyarch versus Infinity Ward. What a reversal.

Well IW delivering two bad CODs in a row after the fallout they had is probably responsible.

Treyarch also seems to make more strides to shake things up more in their games.

I wonder how much of it has to do with IW becoming shit and how much of it is due to Treyarch becoming better. I believe that they were always great, but because they were in the shadows of IW, majority didn't really notice how good they were until IW was gone, that and they really seem to try new things with each games.

Treyarch deserves the sales. Infinity Ward these days are pretty shit and never really listen to the fans. Treyarch on the other hand, actually does give a shit.

Treyarch CoD will probably continue to do well regardless. I can't see a Infinity Ward's next game doing nearly as well as Black Ops 3 unless it's called Modern Warfare 4. Sledgehammer's next game could go either way.

are they really gonna go with MW4 you think? It's so weird having both teams develop modern/future shooters.

I expect it, but would be thrilled if they didn't. I'd like a return to an older era, I'm not into this high tech stuff in every version.

I understand people not liking AW MP, but it had a better campaign than any of the Treyarch games.

You can't be serious. I smelled Irons being a bad guy from a mile away. And when that twist came, I just raised my arms in a "See?" way.

BO1 was way more complex as a story and the fact that, in the end, Mason thought HE was Reznov, was a very cool twist.

BO2 had choices for the player that made a BIG difference in the game's endings.

AW was predictable as hell. It was only saved by Kevin Spacey..

It wasn't a bad game, but it couldn't touch BO with a 10 foot pole.

Well I mean BO3 has clearly been influenced a lot by Titanfall so I guess the ex-Infinity Ward team gets the last laugh? :p
Do they? Because it seems like they are going to do more than titanfall numbers at $60 a pop as opposed to $20 a pop

Besides, game borrows more from Destiny than titanfall

I liked Ghosts, AW on the other hand... hated it.

Also the Black Ops III beta didn't do much for me. It was obviously going to be the highest ordered as the Black Ops name is perceived as the best of COD now.

I just can't agree with this at all. The AW campaign was so boring to me with no memorable characters or set piece moments. I hated the way the game was presented with each new level introducing a mechanic which was then hardly utilized again with some pointless upgrade system between each level. It also had way too many QTEs which for some dumb reason used white text which wasn't easily readable to the player. It was just very dry and I was hoping for some Kevin Spacey scenery chewing, which I did not get!

Black Ops 1 begins with you assasinating the fake Fidel Castro for god sake, and the treyarch games have a number of memorable characters and moments throughout.

I'd say BO3 is more influenced by Destiny than any other game, about the only similarity with Titanfall is that you can wall run for a bit and it isn't even the same kind of wall run, nor does it play into the gameplay as heavily as Titanfall. On the other hand you have class abilities like the Super from Destiny, some of them are infact 1:1 recreation of the abilities seen in Destiny.

i can see it selling close to the Original Black Ops wich was a juggernaut, people are crazy about a new Black Ops and many many milion will transit from Ps360 to Ps4 and Xbox One so there you have 12 milion easy sales.

I really liked Advanced Warfare, but that's just me.

Black Ops as a brand has such a high popularity it's no wonder it's doing much better. With how well Black Ops 2 did this shouldn't surprise anybody.

It feels like everybody has already played and reviewed BO3, very positively.

What am I missing?

It's probably because the Black Ops franchise has generated a lot of goodwill and quite a lot of people are probably excited because it's Black Ops, not because it's COD.

Yup, Black Ops is by far the strongest sub brand CoD has right now. Black Ops 2 was the peak of the series sales, they've been on a downward trend since then.

I've got no doubt BOIII will be better than MW3 when it comes to the sub-series trilogies (even though BO started at WAW).

AW shook things up and tried something new. Ghosts was complete and utter trash with no redeeming qualities.

True AW was waaaay better than Ghosts, but since Ghosts was a steaming pile of shit, that's hardly an achievement.

I DID enjoy the MP however, but not near as much as the BO games. Those are just on another level. I prestiged the hell out of those games.

AW, stuck at level 30. No intentions of playing it further.

I love me some Treyarch too and can 100% agree they are the de facto COD developers, but all this shitting on AW is a little sad - I really really enjoyed both the SP and MP and thought that Sledgehammer really tried to shake up the formula.

Yes the campaign was predictable but it was still an action packed and enjoyable ride. It felt like the first "next gen" entry in the franchise graphically as well.

And yup, the mp was chaotic as hell and I can see how that would be offputting, but personally I just think it had a higher learning curve than the others - after getting accustomed to the movement and maps I had a blast. Just my two cents, bring on BLOPS 3!

Understandable. Even though from the beta I feel like they made some mistakes and it could be plenty better, it doesn't detract from the fact that it's still seemingly the best COD game since Blops 2.

AW and Ghost were atrocities.

I can only speak for myself. I'm not shitting on it, it doesn't deserve that. It's just not near as good as BO though.

But I highly doubt it would have sold as much if Kevin Spacey wasn't in it.

It felt a bit like they were trying to make amends for the pile of manure which was Ghosts...

Wait, I thought AW was considered good?
I don't think pre-order numbers would be going up if AW soured people.

Fair enough the black ops series is really something special, no disagreements there. For me personally, AW was the first campaign since BLOPS 1 that I felt a strong desire to see through to the end.
