Hi, nib95, thanks for the positive feedback!

The best-selling title of the October 2015 U.S. Games Industry Report, Microsoft's Console Software SKU 'Halo 5: Guardians,' sold a combined total of 935K including all Bundle units.

Taking this at face value and adding, let's say 100-200k for digital sales the drop is massive.

02. Halo 4 (360) Microsoft - 3.2M (Reach and Halo 3 did 3.3 million, but with about half or less the days. I'm unclear on if this counts bundles.)

Do most retailers pay up front for consoles ?? If so then yeah I can see MS saying 400mil revenue. If not then it's sold through as they'd be releasing incorrect data that could lead to manipulation of its market price and that's a massive no no for the SEC

I think they do.

So is 1200k for Halo 5 actually considered bad? Or disappointing only because of the drop compared to older Halo games?

Surely MS will turn a profit on the game with the 1200k sold in the first 5 days of October? Oct 27th to Oct 31st? And they will sell more copies of the game in Nov and Dec, plus add the money made from the Req packs.

Just trying to get a feel for whether or not the game is legitimately successful, ignoring any disappointment/failure when compared to previous Halos - did the game make a profit?

Including bundles. This is insane. Very disappointing number indeed.

Where is this 1.2m number coming from?

If I didn't know that UK retail sales of Halo 5 were 60% down over Halo 3 I would refuse to believe that it only sold 935,000 units during its US launch.

That drop seems to be similar when we have into account that Halo 3 had an extra week of sales.

Assuming that Halo 3 had an 80% drop in its second week like it had in the UK which is a similar market for this title, this would mean that it roughly sold about 2.8 million during its first week. A 60% drop over Halo 3 week launch would put Halo 5 in 1.12 million, a figure that it's not that far from the reported 935,000 units.

Anyway, wow, that figure is so frigging low.

I'm sure they can make a profit on it worldwide, but the drop is quite substantial if the estimated data is correct.

02. Halo 4 (360) Microsoft - 3.2M (Reach and Halo 3 did 3.3 million, but with about half or less the days. I'm unclear on if this counts bundles.)

Does the report say how many halo bundles were sold? Thanks and welcome to the neo gaf. I'm the jack the nipper.

If the number you're looking for is the delta between the rumoured numbers and the new one (935k), best case scenario is 100k of Halo bundles at best., right? At least it sounds plausible, given 305k of total consoles sold last month.

I'm sure it will be successful in it's own way, but there's no denying that those numbers in comparison to the rest of the series is horrific and a major decline over the previous entries. No digital hurrah stops that number being heavily down and pretty damn poor.

We need assassins creed numbers surely? Halo might have taken one to the knee but it looks like ass creed might have shot itself in the face.

Hi there, travisbickle. Hope you're doing well.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'taking one to the knee,' but I would like to tell you that in the October 2015 U.S. Games Industry Sales NPD Report, Ubisoft's new Console Software SKU and best-selling October 2015 title 'Assassin's Creed Syndicate,' sold 391K units.

This is down significantly from the previous 'Assassin's Creed Unity,' but please keep in mind that the previous title launched in the Holiday Season (November 11th, 2014) and it was included as part of a prominent Xbox One bundle.

Perhaps a more apt comparison is to Ubisoft's 2013 iteration 'Assassin's Creed: Black Flag,' which released on October 29th, 2013.

In the October 2013 U.S. Games Industry report, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag sold 620K units in five days on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 the month before 'next-gen' launched, while in the November 2013 Report when the titles launched on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the title sold 1.2 million units.

It is unlikely that Assassin's Creed Syndicate will leach the lofty heights of its predecessors.

If the 935k number includes bundles, they're digital codes aren't they? That'd knock the split up for digital, although, that's cheating.

Halo games aren't made just to make some money off of them, they exist to move hardware. With sales numbers of the game and the console as low as they are compared to previous Halo launches, I don't know how this is anything other than a disappointment. Microsoft better hope people were just waiting for Black Friday.

Okay now wait one damn minute here. This 935k sales data is coming from NPD_George, the guy who joined in a couple of days ago and talks like this:

"I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'taking one to the knee,' but I would like to tell you that in the October 2015 U.S. Games Industry Sales NPD Report, Ubisoft's new Console Software SKU and best-selling October 2015 title 'Assassin's Creed Syndicate,' sold 391K units."

Is NPD_George an AI construct? Heh. Surely you can't throw around that information without being verified first, right? Can bish, EvilLore or another mod confirm this guy is legit?

Damn, AC Syndicate did much worse than I thought. Unity seems to have really damaged the reputation of the franchise.

Edit: Can a mod please verify this guy? I'm dying to know if he really is legit.
