Anyone able to tell me, roughly, what level of settings and what FPS I'll be able to run this at with my PC?

8 GB

No. Its for sure not that.

Well, it does not seem like they are trying to hide the game. Which is normally how it goes. I know everything I have seen has only made me even more excited. So, whatever the intentions are, I think it has only painted the game in a better light.

Loving the game, really fun.

BUT, the fucking forcing online is going on my nerves. At start it want to connect to the square Enix servers, that takes fucking minutes.

When you are in the game, and you lose the connection for whatever reason( today with all the PSN downtime it was fucking bad) it days "disconnected" and stops the game until you are back online. No warning, nothing. It just pause the game. Wtf??

And if you got it into offline mode, evertime you press the TouchPad for the in game menu it trys to reconnect, even if you lost the connection.

Really annoying. What the fuck is this shit? This game doesn't even have multi-player, only some scoreboards. Why do I need to be always online????

This is the B-Team of Avalanche working on this right? The original JC 2 team worked on Mad Max (which I loved)? I thought I read that somewhere.

OH so its a mixed one...lord. Welcome to the future! I can deal with that.

Wait thats the collectors edition. Doesn't that come with physical items?

In another thread someone from Gamestop confirmed the regular version is the same, also includes a map.

That is good stuff!

They crushed the hell out of streams for days except turkey day so...I am not sure exactly what your talking about here but don't mistake discussing the release as trying to stop you from being randomly excited about a title.
Its bog standard actually. There hasn't been anything different that they have done. The difference is the mess up in the release as companies thought it was coming out prior to Turkey day. It actually has nothing to do with SE now. Just like every time this happens.

Narrative has sorta sucked lately and it's probably not just here. As I'm reading the narrative sucks. I sorta felt like narrative took a turn for the worst around the time FC was deviating beyond a man on a mission.

It feels juvenile right? Unless of course they put some effort into it. I don't mind video game narrative at all and it speaks volumes when someone just calls out RE or SH for it, but anymore the newer games try to be video games beyond a saving point. They can't convince someone to care and maybe its the way they're being made or we want a new formula that works for our benefit.

For whatever it is... narrative is going to be good or its just there because.

I don't mind narrative from 10 years ago and some of the larger games, but if it's just some cool dude talking about nonsense then I can just skip it.

watching lirik rn and we pretty much have the same setup but him disabling vsync since he has a gsync monitor

Pretty sure gsync should be on at global settings

Wait .... I have a beast ass rig and I always turn both in-game vsync and my gsync on and it seems that is a bad idea? I have to turn off vsync in game and only let gsync handle everything ?
I'm dumb

Excited to play this game monday

I think JC is even harder as the split between what you see on the screens and what you hear in the narrative aren't easily connected realistically. I talked to the Mercenaries 2 developers and they had the same issue when moving to the sequel. It just became too disconnected from the action you saw on screen and the narrative gets a bit janky trying to connect them and keep players caring.

When you free fall through the air from a high altitude, does it play "majestic" music like in JC1? I was so sad that that wasn't in JC2.

Also, can you parasail behind cars?

Too bad we don't live in a Mercenaries industry anymore. I was going to bring up that point, but we sorta have to get our grounds with what we get anymore. That's also why I brought up FC. On the surface, FC was much more grounded before they got their young protagonist and their goofy sidekick or other cast members.

I don't see how the creative teams at these studios feel great about that sort of vibe, but they all denounce Mercenaries to make this HD product with terrible narratives.

It is JC and I just played JC2 because it was cheap and everyone talked about it. I'm just hit with the idea that they aren't doing things better when it comes to Narrative, but they're getting the gameplay down.

Fine if your narrative sucks or is just there then the game better play real well.

Graphics aren't mind blowing to me, but the game does look very pretty and has some nice large open environments with what looks like a good frame rate (on PC). I like what I see.

It's not as big of a jump from Just Cause 2 in sheer fidelity, but on the other hand there's tons more physics based destruction in the environment now. I would say that is more than a preferable tradeoff.

When has a Just Cause game had amazing narrative? Certainly not surprising. The only reason their is barely a narrative is simply for some loose direction and progression.

Also, again completely unsure as to why anyone could complain about a Just Cause game's "arcadey" gameplay nature. That arcadey gameplay is what makes the Just Cause games what they are. If you don't like that, you wouldn't like any of the Just Cause games anyway for the same reasons.

From all I can tell so far, Just Cause 3 is more of the same of the previous Just Cause games but bigger and better in almost every way

- Square Enix servers are down, but everytime I open the map or menu it tries to connect to the servers for at least 30 seconds, pausing the game. Then I get a "disconnected" message for another 30 seconds. This happens literally everytime I open the map and there's no way to disable it. Bizarre stuff;
This sounds horrible.

Game looks like it'll get old fast like JC2. Most of it just grappling things together and para gliding all over the place as usual. But that's just from what i've seen so who knows.

If anyone else is wondering about the Retail PC version, this guy on Reddit says it comes with a Download code and 5 Disks to install from!!!

https://www.reddit.com/r/JustCause/comments/3uh0cq/just_cause_3_pc_edition_explained/

Uh, you sure the code isn't the thing you use to activate and the discs the thing you can use to install if you don't want to download 38GB?

Syndicate just came out and it was the same way. A code and a ton of DVDs so your download was small.

edit: And I'm not even seeing a disc based PC retail option offered at places like Best Buy...

Steamworks game give you the choice. They all come with a code you need to activate on your account then it's up to you if you want to install from the disk (provided the actual game is on it of course) or download it from the Steam servers.

It has always been like this.

I saw one of the videos and the guy accelerated using the parachute by undeploying it for a second as his tether sped him up and then he redeployed the parachute. It resulted in a faster speed.

Wait, this game is mandatory online? Why?

This is making me reconsider purchasing it.
Sigh, the only game I was anticipating this year, after MGSV and fo4

The game isn't online only. It's just got a really fucking stupid mechanic where it'll try to reconnect to the server for about 10 seconds (while pausing your game of course) before it gives you the option to play offline. I think that disconnecting your ps4/xbone should solve the problem.

This game performs worse than Fallout 4 on PS4. Probably the worst technical mess Ive seen. Hitching and terrible fps

They even describe it as an action comedy video game so I don't think anyone should complain that Rico isn't voiced by De Niro and the cutscenes aren't Hitchcock enough for their tastes.

Got the game yesterday. Played about 3 hours or so. My impressions are pretty much on point with op other then the arcadey and narrative stuff cuz none of Jc really had good narrative from my recollection. The server thing will stop happening once the game releases and servers go up I would imagine. It's fun crazy explosions. Basically, more of JC 2. So if u liked that I think u will enjoy this game.
Btw, performance hasn't been that bad for me(ps4). I wouldn't even go close to saying it's as bad as Fallout 4 as another poster suggested. It definitely hasn't been for me anyways.

So there is an option in the game's menu to play offline?

Do you know if there are any negatives involved in choosing to play offline? And are there any benefits to playing it online?

Its just leaderboard stuff and even if you choose offline play it will still try to connect you

Played both the PS4 and Xbox One versions, XBone has a much more solid framerate but looks slightly muddy and aliased, but PS4 is a lot clearer IQ wise, but drops frames like it's going out of style.

On both consoles, loading times are vile. Like, 5 minutes before respawning. I got up, made a sandwich, ate it, and it finished 30 seconds or so afterwards, and no, I'm not joking.

Actual game is just JC2 with some ramped up visual flair and a loads more destruction, which for me is worthy of GOTY haha, but YMMV.

Douchebag. Yes, me.

Can you try disconnecting your console entirely from the Internet and see if the load times improve?

It may be trying to reach the server which is down when loading which is causing the load to take forever...

There is no offline option in the menu, it only shows when it has failed to connect. Then it tries to reconnect you any time you pause.

I disconnected my Xbox to my network solely to get rid of the server connect bullshit it throws at me every time I open the map up, so it's been offline this whole time...

Oh, and fun sidenote, it didn't even stop the server connect issue. It still tries to connect. Woo.

Yeah...i'm really confused.

People were going into this expecting NON-arcadey gameplay and a great story? Have these people ever played the previous games???

If the gameplay wasn't arcadey and if it had a strict story I had to adhere to instead of roaming around doing what I want I would be really pissed...
