If you're going to do this at least throw the PS2 classics on there too

There was no single AAA first party game, so "no shit"

However, Ephraim was very optimistic about 2016: "Next year, our first party lineup looks incredible. You’ve got Street Fighter, Uncharted 4, No Man’s Sky, The Last Guardian, Gran Turismo. These are all exclusives, and two of them are new franchises."
Did he forget about Horizon or is this game getting pushed back? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Yes, he is right, but honestly I don't think MS line-up was sooo much better.
Some folks on GAF (MS included) act like MS has released 10 exclusive 1st party games in 2015...

First half: nothing but Ori, which may be great, but is not a AAA sytem seller. (Journey remastered does the same job for those who switched from 360)

Second half:
Forza 6- yearly franchise
Halo 5 - still a big gun but I have played 7 Halos, I'm done with the franchise and it seems that I'm not the only one
TR - timed exclusive bomba

For me personally BB was more interesting than all 4 Bone exclusives combined.
Next year when PS4 gets all the Japan love + 1st party exclusives things will get interesting.

Sony has been kinda Peter Sellers in this regard: incompetent and clumsy but still succesful with the positive side-effect that their precious 1st party games have not been slaughtered by COD, FO4 and BF - EA, Activision and Bethesda are going to be very pleased. Ubi am cry, though.

The Shadowfall team isn't working on Horizon. Horizon has been in development since KZ3. Mathijs de Jonge's team is working on it.

Wow....that makes the development of the game even longer than I though O_O!

I get that the game went into full production once Shadow Fall came out but still; it still is a good four-five years of development time going into Horizon Zero Dawn!

Guess the game coming out in 2016 is a lot more likely than expected :).

2016 is going to beat every year of the PS4 so far in just the first half:

- January: Shadow of the Beast
- February: Street Fighter V, Gravity Rush remastered
- March: Uncharted, MLB, Alienation
- April: Ratchet & Clank

Good times ahead. Here's hoping at least a couple out of The Last Guardian, Gravity Rush 2, Horizon, and Gran Turismo make it out in 2016.

No shit.

Sony's exclusive line up was bad by itself, and ridiculous when compared with what Microsoft delivered.

At least 2016 is looking good... Let's hope they can fulfill deadlines this time.

It's a little easier to forgive when Microsoft decides to hold off on all its exclusives until the tail end of the year, by which time there are many third party juggernauts to keep gamers busy.

Forza isn't a yearly franchise. Forza and Forza horizon are 2 vastly different franchises

Now add to that Ratchet & Clank and Uncharted 4, which were both delayed, and you would have had in theory a very good year overall I think (likewise afaik The Order was supposed to be a big fall 2014 title).
I think that is why many are dreading a delay for both TLG and Horizon really, but even then 2016 should really be stellar (in theory).

- December: GT Sport

"Not as strong as we'd have liked" seems to be the actual quote, which makes sense seeing as two major first party titles that were supposed to release this year got delayed.

They still published the single best release this year in Bloodborne though, so that's good enough for me.

Not really, but at least it's a relevant franchise (unlike Driveclub/GT).

Edit: I wonder if some people here consider Bayo 2 and W101 as 1st-party or not.

I find the way Sony talk about their line-up this year to be a bit odd personally. You'd think they would be talking up all the new IPs they launched: Helldivers, The Order 1886, Until Dawn, Bloodborne, Rapture... mixed in with Uncharted Collection, God of War 3R, Tearaway Unfolded, MLB The Show

Ok it probably wasn't their strongest line-up ever but outside of The Order the rest seem to have done pretty good or really good I thought? Certainly a few in there I could see them going again with.

Obviously its nice they are being honest about it I guess but... I don't know, I'm surprised they are talking it down rather than up. I think a lot of Playstation fans will be quite happy with their load this year. Same with Andrew House saying their line-up was "sparse" although he may have just been referring to the holidays, I can't really remember.

Next year looks better though, quite excited for Ratchet & Clank, Horizon and Alienation, I'm sure I will pick up Uncharted 4 later on and I will almost certainly get No Man's Sky too

I think the odds of Horizon being another Order 1886 are pretty much zero. Why?

Because Sony didn't hide Horizon. With The Order we didn't see gameplay for almost a year and what we got was incredibly short and, well, not good. It was obvious the game was in poor shape and they knew it. The second we saw Horizon for the first time we saw the game running with legit footage. Sony wasn't shy about actually showing us the game at all.

Well at least next year it will be the greatest line up in history.
Except half of the stuff will get delayed to 2017 and then they will announce more stuff for 2017 and people will be "well 2016 didn't turn out that great but 2017 will be mindblowing" but then half of those games will get delayed to 2018....

I'm sure others have stated this as well but...
Unless Sony bought Capcom and Hello Games... I count 3 out of 5 first party games listed...

Is Shadow of the beast getting a physical release?

That game looks awesome, but didn't know if it was digital/PSN only?

The only 1st/2nd party game I bought was bloodborne. Now if they put a game of that quality and replay value out every year I would be content with just 1.

as someone who has yet to buy an 8th gen console i'll be looking at 2016 closely...the threshold for me is five games i want to play on that console that i can't play anywhere else. which, at least for me, wii u is closest right now but ps4 might overtake it in 2016.

-edit wrong year whoops

Well there's not many days left in 2015 for you to make your decision I guess...

I don't think either company will be dropping any more exclusive games before the end of 2015, so you're probably safe choosing now... ... ...

I think SCE first-party releases this year were okay. Bloodborne, Until Dawn and MLB feel like the only AAA productions though, the rest were a bit more low key. I'm still salty over Warrior's Lair and Dark Side being canned.

commander in understatement. Thank god Japanese games are coming now but since they seems to also come to PC, my PS4 may ended up collecting more dust once my BOPS 3 rush is over.

Seems the guy is talking about the front end of the year. I'd be surprised if we see Horizon in 2016, but would equally not be surprised if it is coming for Holidays.

Bloodborne is still the only worthwhile exclusive, also Horizon is going to be another Order, hyped up and then disappointing.

We've already seen more of the Horizon than we had with The Order. It'll be fine.

I could see Horizon slipping to 2017. On the other hand, I know it sounds weird to say this in regards to The Last Guardian, but I feel pretty good about its chances for release next year. Maybe I'm giving Sony too much credit here, but I feel like they wouldn't have included any release date at the end of the E3 trailer if they weren't 99.99% sure they'd hit it.

It's embarrassing enough that it's still not out, I'm sure the last thing Sony wants to do is announce further delays.

Not a great lineup for 2015 by any stretch, but Bloodborne and Until Dawn both delivered, so it's far from a complete disaster.

OMG! Haha...

If you're interested in a WiiU, you should probably get one before fall 2016. There's already many good deals.

Horizon's gameplay demo and videos with the dev's that followed showed a game in a more complete state than most of what Microsoft showed at E3.

Did Sony even release a single new game from a first party studio this year that wasnt a remaster?

2nd party put in good worth with Bloodborne and Until Dawn though.

Is The Last Guardian really a "franchise"? Being that I'm not currently playing Ico 3 or Shadow of the Colossus: Revenge of the Monstrosities, I'm a little skeptical.

My PS4 collected dust for most of the year but honestly bloodbourne was really all I needed to justify keeping the platform. I still want to get around to playing until dawn and the order as well.

I wouldn't really disagree but that's somewhat to be expected. I mean the PS3 didn't really start becoming the powerhouse that it finished the generation off as until its last couple of years. Everything until then was pretty slow going.

Relevant where? on Neogaf? Is this sarcasm? You must not know the sales and community bases of the franchises you're comparing if not.

What's the difference really? They are SCE first-party games with loads of investments and marketing. Technically, the remasters are from external studios (Bluepoint Games, Tarsier Studios) making those first-party remasters.. sooo yeah.

whats your point?

The reason WHY they haven't had much 1st party is irrelevant... Doesn't change the fact that they've been using 3rd party partnerships to fill the void...

Seems to have been working...

My point is that having weak first party line-up and relying on third party deals is not Sony's strategy. It is just a short term compensation that they are kind of forced to do. They have plenty of first party studios and development partners who were working on games for PS3 and Vita, while they perhaps should have already moved on to PS4 projects.

Oh really? So what is this majestic list of exclusive games I wonder?

I mean a game being good is subjective so this is all meaningless but I would like to see the list of games that compares to what Sony brought our this year or is this another 'games released between September and November' argument that seems the prevail with some people here.
