Yeah, I have a level 30 heavy skell. Was just a little worried about weapons because I have no idea how good/bad my weapon setup is.
Honestly, you can't really beat the nemesis, you just need to take out as many lives as possible and survive until time runs out. So having an amazing build will more just help you kill it more times

Main Menu -> Arts.

To level them up you need BP that you gain in combat and also by exploring, filling the Collectopedia, doing quests, etc...

Also in this game there are Skills and Arts with Arts being the attacks that you use in combat while Skills are like passive bonus (like more HP, Defense, better chance to land criticals) granted by progressin each class.

Good to know. I am sure the game does introduce me to them eventually in game? i really need to get through some of the story i guess to keep it moving and get anything i need to get that might help. Like more party members i guess.

Just pay attention to the status of the nemesis. For example when it reflect electric and thermal damage... DO NOT use weapons with those types of damage! Even an Ares 90 can fall prey to that.

I'm glad you mentioned that because I haven't seen anything about that before. I'll keep an eye out and give it a shot tonight.

I'm not sure if that is one of them, but some of the systems it doesn't really explain at all in game. You really need to read the manual to get info on everything.

Leaving the game running in the background and wiggling the joystick every now and again. I have shit to do and honestly I'm at 3.5 million and I need to get to 7 million-ish before I buy the final level 50 skell (the heavy) fully tricked out with the shit that I want. Then I have a team of 3 level 50s and a scrub in a level 30 medium (hand me down courtesy of me).

Then I just have to save again to buy level 55 gear for my party and I'm done buying shit until I finish the game.

So where can I get most research probes, from basic missions? I am at a measly 45k per cycle, I need MORE.

I also assume storage probes work better in certain locations?

Haven't tested it yet, but probably?

Let me know if you find out. I won't be playing any time soon....

If it does go through, I will definitely set those augments. Otherwise it's just a matter of paying attention.

You can get them from treasures. I usually find them in Mechanical treasure. Once you have high enough mechanical skill just go around Primordia, Noctilum, and Oblivia. That was enough to set me up to about 140K with the correct placement. I think there was one guide that shows how to set it up in Oblivia.

This probably won't work. People have done quite a bit of testing, you might get items but not money/ore. The game has a pretty good anti-idle system in place, it might be based on variety of actions (jumping, talking etc.) or loading in new assets around the world as you explore.

Clearly the solution is to hire someone to run laps around the world while I'm gone.

I've been doing this shit for many days now and always get money ever 15/30 minutes. In fact I've gotten money twice since I started earlier. And all I do is touch the gamepad screen or move the camera a bit.

This game got me something fierce, All day I've been practicality waiting for work to be over so that I can get home and play. I feel like a damn kid, and I'm loving it.

Tonight I'm gonna see if I can get my skell to fly an get the next level in the mechanical field skill.

This is really tempting me to bring my wii u to work and do this all day. My boss might start to wonder why he's paying me though if I'm watching giantbomb in one window, reading gaf in another, and messing with my wii u gamepad.

So the spot you want to go to is Badr Stonebridge in Sylvalim (it has a fast travel point and it is north-east of FN 406...btw that site is guarded by 2 prones that will have to be killed to activate it, have fun). At one end of the bridge is 3 enemies Puge and Puglith robots* and you can get behind them for using the Sythe (comes with one of the heavies) which hopefully will be a OHKO (I have a stronger scythe though). Do that until you get one of the good AoE weapons (G2-buster...weaker than G-buster but AoE instead and Phoenix). After that you'll be taking all 3 on at once.

With the right positioning you can kill all 3 enemies, exit Skell, return to Skell in party menu to reload the enemies and be able to straight kill them again.

With a team fully decked out in armour giving treasure seeker plus a few augments (I think I had around 80% boost to drop rate) using one of the AoE attacks (G2-buster or Phoenix) I get multiple orange skell weapon drops per fight (I heard the game has a drop boost for fighting groups too).

*-I think the Puge might only be there during the day though, they seem to have spawning issues in any case almost like they're being unloaded for resource reasons.

so i got a Basic Mission calling you a
mimeosome
but i just beat chapter 4. Game needs it's own spoiler tags:p
Someone got their BLADE level up :)

You will eventually be able to get a flying skell after Chapter
9
. The skell itself doesn't level, the initial one you get is a special level 20 skell. There are additional skells you can buy at level 30 and level 50 with improved stats.

That's great to know, thanks for the help. I've been wondering how to reach that floating island in the middle of that giant abyss since I reached Oblivia :p

What? I've left the game doing nothing with the pause menu on to check when miranium arrives, and so far I've been getting it even when the screen has gone dim due to prolonged inactivity. I never left it on while I went to work, but I didn't have any problems getting my shipment of miranium spending just a minute playing the game to spend that miranium, and then left the game alone again until the next mining shipment arrived.

I think you can actually reach that probe without a flying mech if you drive off the edge at the correct angle and time your jump right, but it's a level 5 mechanical if I'm not mistaken.

When the screen goes dim you still get materials but it seems to go from every 30 minutes to every hour.

Does anyone know of a good guide online or a good video tutorial on combat? I actually have the game guide but even after reading that I still don't understand combat. What I don't get is:

- How do I avoid enemy attacks? Half the time I get large chunks of health knocked off and the enemy isn't even looking at me, I can't even tell why I'm losing health.

- Soul voices, I can't hear what they are yelling over the battle music and I see no on screen indications telling me which type of attack I should use based on what they are calling out. Am I just missing it or not looking in the right spot?

- The "B" prompt, is there a way to know when that may be about to pop up on the screen? By the midway point of most battles I am in a cold sweat and barely notice it before it's gone, haha.

- Any other pointers to just do better?

Just wanted to let everyone know that the trail to Delusions North Summit is a great place to farm. You can find lv 35-40 Wandering Ovis there, which can be easily killed one-by-one.

The game doesn't do hit detection like a shooter or similar. The target of an attack needs to be valid when the attack starts, but after that it doesn't matter how characters move (possibly AoE attacks work differently for characters that aren't actually targets). Generally you want to just watch above the enemy health bar to see what attack they're using, and who they're facing when they start the attack is who it's heading for.

By default you should get a little colored text box on the screen which indicates that you should use that color of art. Did you turn this off?

1. If you are actually fighting the enemy you need to have someone else have the aggro. Large enemies tend to do area attacks so if they're aiming for you or you're within the AoE, then you're gonna get hurt unless your evade stat kicks in and you avoid damage. If you are running away then it just depends if the enemy attacks your party first instead of you.

2. Soul voices have a timer to them. If they scream something but there's no shining Arts/icon in your screen then either they fucked up, got hit, the timer ran out or someone else is activating theirs.
edit: the other possibility is you don't have an arts type loaded in your palette, or the one you do have is currently on cool down.

3. No the B prompt activates every now and then, usually when your character is gonna do a soul voice. You'll just have to realize it's there.

Hey Xenogaf, got a question for you all,

For anyone who has played through a good chunk/most of the game, I was wondering if anyone could comment on the number of instances/story sequences where female characters/enemies are shown in significantly revealing clothing?

A little background: I recently got married, and out of respect for my wife and myself, I've made a personal commitment to limit my exposure to such things.

When I started playing the game, I was shocked to discover how revealing some of Elma's first armor selections were. After doing a little research, I was saddened to see the amount of gratuitous exposure "armor" and bikini options for the lady party members. After learning this, I thought to myself, "OK, I just won't equip those selections of armor".

As I continued to dig however, I learned that some story sequences introduce characters that are also depicted in such a way. My follow up question is this: Are these missions avoidable in any way?

On a final note, I wanted to add that I don't hold any personal judgement or criticism for those who don't find issue with this sort of content.

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

I only have two chapters left. You only meet
2 female baddies
throughout the main campaign and yes they're both wearing battle bikinis.

As to random enemies/alien races there are more often that not a sexualized alien females with regular looking males. And the ladies tend to use revealing armor/clothing.

Fortunately the BLADE operatives wear t-shirts/armor. And you can use fashion armor to cover up very revealing clothing if it's really bothering you. I know that it bothered me that even heavy armor variations could end up being battle bikinis but I'd say it's 2/3rds of the heavy armor for females are still not battle bikinis.

You don't have to see many battle bikinis in the game if you don't want to. Most of the ones I'm seeing come from people in this thread who post their party and have elma or someone else running around in their underwear.

I have only seen one instance of this so far. It was during a main story quest, which is (minor spoilers)
a boss fight.

I am ~15 hours in and just completed Chapter 5, so I'm not very far in the game.

If so, I don't think you'll be able to finish this one either.

no, i had to sell my wii and then i never had time cause of work, but i played around 20 hours of it and i loved it. so if this is anything like that but better, than i guess im buying right now.

So for the Hope Affinity mission, there's no way to have her keep
the pearl necklace? I don't want to take her father's momento to just give to someone else.

It's different in overall structure though.

There's less a focus on a single linear quest and more on exploring both the world and the people around you.

I'm really enjoy it a lot but you have to keep that in mind.

Do you enjoy doing side stuff, exploring and learning about a variety of NPC's?

Is there even any point in trying the final chapter before having a team of four level 50 skells? I managed the first
three fights
, but lost three teammate skells. Those three didn't last long in what I assume is the final fight
against Lao.
