First post. Sorry for the poor IQ. These were taken with my iPhone.

Television is a Vizio M60, which I am very happy with it. Originally, I had a M55 but exchanged it for the larger size. I still wish I would have gone even bigger though.

You mind telling me where or what entertainment center that is? My parents are actually trying to find a modern white looking one.

This is my entertainment room. Also do most of my reading here.

Left side is for movies and singleplayer games, right side is mainly for Xbox One / competitive games.

Well here it is, my new game room. I'm actually not 100% happy with the actual photo's, so I might redo them later (later this year though). The lighting is all over the place, I shot a few pics last night and the rest this morning, so that's why the lighting looks so different per shot. I had to borrow my dad's camera, so I can't really do quick re-shoots anyway.

As far as the actual room, there's still some things left to be done; I have to hang that Mario 2 thing you see in some pics on the wall and I'm currently looking for a small couch to put in front of the gaming area.

Yes, most of those consoles are hooked up and ready to go. The red area you see behind the TV and consoles is actually a simple double wall, that's why you don't see any cables. Behind the two small (removable) doors in the bottom left are a bunch of RGB switch-boxes. It mostly workss, but it's not perfect unfortunately, the signal does get degraded if you use RGB in the 3rd or 4th switch box, so I'll have to find a solution for that. I'm also kinda looking for a better TV. Still CRT obviously but with S-video support (and maybe more than just 1 Scart/RGB input) for my US SNES and such, the rest is hooked up with RGB.

The doors are covered in old videogame ads I cut out of old EGM's. I always wanted to do something like this in my old game room, but never really had the right place for it, so I just covered up the 2 doors with them. The left door leads to the hallway and the lower-level stairs, behind the right door is the central heating unit and a few shelves where I put all my controllers (well the ones I use anyway, the rest are in totes along with hundreds of cables etc.). It's a right mess though, so I decided to not shoot it.

My more current games. I buy just as many (if not more) retro games than current ones, I always buy physical whenever possible as you can probably tell :).

My retro games, everything's alphabetized btw. I still have to catalogue my games though...someday.

My cabinets, one is obviously just Zelda stuff and the other is just a fairly random assortment of rarish and/or expensive games that I also really like (it's pretty random, games like Panzer Dragoon Saga are just in the main area instead of here, but whatevs.)

In the attic I put my boxes for CE's and newer consoles (though I didn't photograph it very well, I missed a few shots that properly show it).

In my bedroom is a ladder that leads up to the attic and right besides the ladder is a little nook where I put my Atari 2600 and Philips G7000 (Odyssey 2 in the US). I don't really sit there tbh, but I thought it was a nice little area to put those, the goatskin or whatever adds to the atmos think.

All in all I just made a few random shots, there's no real rhyme or reason to them (I'm clearly not a photographer). Here's some different angle shots.

Lastly, A quick shot of my living room. I actually spend the most time gaming here, I have my WiiU, Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360 and PC hooked up in that little alcove you see to the right. Again, I just plain didn't think of shooting another angle, so you don't see my badass Ganon statue next to the TV and my beautiful framed Phantasy Star poster hanging above it. Maybe next time.

The cables are being worked on, it's a temporary thing.

If people want to see anything else (like where I put my controllers and such) I can make some quick and dirty shots with my own crummy camera.

Here's a Link to all the pics, there's a bunch of duplicates in there though, but Imgur won't let me delete them

Apologies if I put too many pics, but I feel like I had to give a good overview.

We bought some pretty cheap IKEA furniture yesterday. It's nothing special, but I think our new and improved 2016 living space looks quite nice. Does anyone have suggestions of how it could be improved?
Hanging posters with tacks in the wall is verboten if you want a classy place. Buy some frames.

Holy crap eXistor , that's amazing :))
Ditto... Putting the rest of us to shame, lol. Posts like this really make me want to replace all of my 6' bookshelfs with a more customized look. Also, I have to spread my games across muliple rooms, I'd love to an isle-like setup to have them all displayed like this. Amazing stuff.

Everyone has hardwood flooring. I'm already sort of regretting my next move due to it being carpet D:

Eh, I moved last year into an old house with carpet and wood paneling and still posted a pic of my setup. It doesn't look as nice as a lot of the setups here, but the floors can be replaced and the walls can always be painted or replaced as well.

Amazing collection, those photos have me so fascinated looking at all the games and merchandise! *___*

Moved into my new house.

Absolutely beautiful. I love the lounge chair, love the shelves and that view is amazing. Congrats on such an amazing home. :)

Hopefully I'm not disqualified for using a filter on the photos.

Looks good. I would suggest buying frames for those posters and then hanging the framed posters. Always looks very good. :)

I actually offered to pay whatever the difference was since they were going to put down new carpeting but they said they couldn't do hardwood flooring on the top floors due to noise...................... I don't plan on staying longer than a year anyway, but typically when someone is willing to front the cost to add value to a unit, you'd think it would be ok.

Those are ikea cabinets called Besta. You can adapt them like you will and the cabinets themselves exist in 3 colours and the doors in like 15 colours.

It's like you have a more stylish version of the 40-year-old virgin tucked away. Very impressive collection. This is just a room in your house? Do you mind if I ask how old you are? Family?

No I don't. I've always been casually thinking of doing one, but I don't really have the means.

This is still my favourite thread on NeoGAF :)

This is Year #3 of me posting some pics of my various gaming rigs around the house.

Lounge Room

The Lounge Room now contains the following setup:
- LG 60" Plasma TV
- Yamaha YSP-2200 Soundbar
- Intel NUC D54250WYKH HTPC running XBMC (I will never call it Kodi LOL)
- Synology DS1812+ with 8x4TB HDDs (about 25TB) storing all movies, TV, music etc
- 4x2 HDMI Matrix hooked up to the projector room so I can watch Cable on the TV or the Projector
- Eaton 5S UPS

All rooms are connected via various Netgear and HP Gigabit switches...all movies, TV and music streams from the Synology NAS. I also have a SONOS Play 5 and two Play 3's dotted around the house and outdoor entertaining area which also stream wirelessly from the Synology.

Gaming PC
Completely new build since last year, I sold my PS4 to invest in a top of the range gaming PC...my new battlestation now consists of:-

- Intel i5 4690K Devils Canyon CPU
- Asrock Z97X Fatal1ty Killer Motherboard
- 2 x 8GB GSkill Ripjaws 2133Mhz RAM
- 2 Gigabyte GTX 980 G1 Gaming GPUs
- Samsung 840 EVO 128GB (OS/Apps)
- Samsung 850 EVO 500GB (Games)
- 4TB Seagate Barracuda HDD (Music/Photos/Software/etc)
- 4TB Seagate Barracuda HDD (Downloads/Misc)
- Corsair AX860i PSU
- Corsair Carbide Air 540 Case
- Deck Hassium Pro Cherry Red Keyboard
- Logitech G602 Wireless Gaming Mouse
- Asus Xonar Essence STX Soundcard
- Beyerdynamic MMX300 Headphones
- LG 49UB850T 49" 4K TV supports full RGB 4:4:4 palette at 60Hz via HDMI 2.0
- Buttkicker Gamer 2 transducer
- Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS (not shown in pics...mostly for playing Elite Dangerous on the DK2...wow, amazing experience!!)
- Eaton 5S UPS

4K gaming rocks...I typically get around 45-60fps in most new games with everything on Very High or Ultra graphics settings.

Although after playing Elite Dangerous, Assetto Corsa and Alien Isolation on the DK2 I don't think gaming on a TV will ever quite be the same again...can't wait for the commercial Rift to arrive in March :)

Sold my Oculus Rift DK2 VR headset (and the DK1 the year before!) and pre-ordered the CV1 within 10 minutes of it going live, so I can't wait until March/April. Trying very hard to resist the lure of the HTC Vive as well...I really want to compare them both myself :)

I also run XBMC on this as well.

MAME Cabinet
Custom-build by myself, running the HyperSpin Front-end with approx 25,000 games for systems such as:-
- MAME,
- NES,
- SNES,
- MasterSystem,
- MegaDrive,
- NeoGeo
- N64
- and a load of others

The full album including build pics is at http://imgur.com/a/pE6gF.

Virtual Pinball Table

Custom-built (by me...again!) Star Trek Next Generation virtual pinball table:-
- Full Williams Widebody Pinball shell dimensions
- 42" LED for playfield
- 29" monitor for back glass
- 19" monitor for Dot Matrix Display
- PC with an Nvidia GTX560 GPU hosting 300+ tables for Future Pinball and Visual Pinball

The full album including build pics is at http://imgur.com/a/7tPYB.

Projector Room

I have only set this up in the last week or two. I recently moved into a new rental with a space that I decided to use as a kids games room and also to contain the MAME cabinet and Pinball Cabinet...but also took advantage of the room dimensions and added a new movie/gaming config as follows:-

- Epson EH-TW3500 1080p Projector
- Yamaha RXV377 Amplifier
- Accusound ES80 Wireless 5.1 Speaker System
- PS3
- Wii U
- Intel NUC D54250WYKH HTPC running XBMC 14.1 (I will never call it Kodi LOL)

Currently set up filling almost an entire wall which is equivalent to a 3.5m screen...utterly amazing for watching TV, sport, movies and gaming. I don't think I'll be using the 60" plasma that much after the 'big screen' experience.

This will keep me going until 4K projectors come down in price and there is some decent content available!!

Infinity Table
It's not really gaming related, but I converted an ordinary table into an "Infinity Table" using a mirror under the glass top, one-way reflective film on the glass top, and a strip of LED light between...looks awesome and freaked out the kids the first time they saw it :)

Well that's about it from me...happy to provide more info on any of the setups I have...so feel free to reply to this post or PM me.

I live in Perth, Western Australia so I'm also happy to demo any of the above to any other "sandgropers" out there ;-)

I'm really looking forward to getting more inspiration from some of the other amazing setups out there...keep up the good work GAFfers!!

Sorry for some weird lighting/angles on some of these. Really hard to avoid reflections when taking shots. Props if you can name all the games featured.

Cjlove, that is one incredible setup you have, especially that PC! How is the input lag on that LG TV that you are using for a monitor?

Setup a little "retro" corner in my sons room (he's 8). He has been really interested in playing past Mario games. Got a 36" Panasonic CRT from someone that was just gonna throw it away a couple years ago. Its a monster! lol

Thanks Dave_6...I love it!

I did quite a bit of research on suitable 4K TVs to find one with 4:4:4 RGB support, 60Hz and low input lag. According to DisplayLag the LG 49UB850T is around 64ms which puts it on the boundary between Okay and Bad.

However, I'm not particularly sensitive to input lag so it seems fine to me...but I've never experienced a top of the range gaming monitor so I have nothing better to compare it to.
I'm sure for some people the input lag would be a killer for them. For me, the only thing that has beat this gaming experience so far has been playing on the DK2!

Once an Ultrawide 35"+, 3440x1440, G-Sync, sub-5ms, 144Hz gaming monitor comes to market I might consider upgrading...but I think it'll be a while before I could afford one, especially as we'll probably need the next-gen Nvidia Pascal GPUs to drive these panels at their maximum settings :)

I love your new setup eXistor. It's as amazing as was the old one.
It just looks like a comfortable place to look at the games and play.
Congrats on it. You said I have the "shelves of insanity" but your room has a lot of charisma. I like the bright colors a lot and I think they really help the room to be comfy.

I also loved your Mario standee. I wish I had one like that.

So I'm going to be upgrading my place probably by EOY or early next year. Once I'm back from my trip to Asia I will be buying a new place ready for probably the 2017 thread.

I need to keep up with chittagong who will win 2016 thread with his upcoming place :O

So how do you like the Synology? Are you just pooling the drives together with no backup? I've been looking at doing something similar so I can downsize my BD collection a bit as it's getting a bit too space consuming. I'm not too educated on them though, is that front end theirs too or something else? I used to use My Movies back in the WMC days but that was years ago.

Hi,

I'm on my third Synology NAS now...love them! I've gone from a 2-bay to a 4-bay to an 8-bay over the last 5-6 years. I currently have a single 7+1 SHR (Synology Hybrid RAID) volume setup so I can suffer one drive failure without any data loss. I'll be upgrading to a 12-bay model with 6TB drives at some point and will probably look at setting up a 10+2 volume or similar to give some additional redundancy...rebuild times would be horrendous though.

Movies are only stored on the Synology itself. I have all my music, photos etc. stored locally on my PC and these are synced nightly to the Synology using a combination of Robocopy scripts and SyncToy. For important documents on my PC, I use Windows 10 File History with the backup location on the Synology and they are also all copied to my 1TB Dropbox account (with Extended Version History enabled). I also have a couple of 4TB external drives that I cycle monthly backups of music, photos and important documents to and these are stored offsite (in my desk at work).

So if I had a couple of drive failures on the Synology I'd only lose my Movie and TV collection which can always be recreated again...painful, but not disastrous. All my important data would be safe and recoverable.

The front-end to watch content is called XBMC, which was recently rebranded as Kodi - this runs on my HTPC and points to Movie and TV folders setup on the Synology and presented to the HTPC via CIFS shares (i.e. network drives)...all meta-data is downloaded automatically from XBMC using IMDB/TVDB etc.

HTH!

Cheers,

Chris
