I think there were 0 mentions of Bison's alt so far. I didn't even recognize him at first, it's pretty neat compared to his usual dictator stuff.
I mean come on, Bison's cool! Right guys? Right??

Laura is a super boring character indeed. And it's not the fanservice - Mika is arguably even more pandering, but she's way more fun and interesting.

Literally none of this matters to me when the end result is that I think all of the costumes are bland, boring, unappealing and I would never go out of my way to get them. Contrast that with LoL where, even though I have zero interest in playing that game, I see some of the alternate costumes for the characters and I feel like playing them just for that.

It's about the quality, not the quantity.

That also just comes down to preference though. There are a few I think are pretty bland too. Like Laura's is lack luster but I think Cammy's looks great.

You'll get your stranger costumes as time goes on anyway like we did with sf4.

They don't seem to be going to crazy for the first wave of costumes (besides Necalli who is just a rock monster now) and instead going for more casual/professional looks for the characters so that those who want an alt can at least get something that is different than the base look but not too out there.
Stuff like Djinni Rashid and the return of Mecha-Gief will come in due time once people have had time with the game and find mains they want to spend money on for weirder costumes.

most of these are probably story related. So the real out there ones are still to come. Most of these can be explained. Pirate Ryu from SFIV not so much

That's what I hope, at least. Putting it that way, I guess it makes sense that those types of costumes wouldn't be the ones included in initial promotion and would be further down the road, post-launch.

Man. Capcom is totally going to make us pay to make Birdie not too much of a joke character.

Might be just because Mika is a returning character. None of the newcomers are that interesting, tbh.

I feel like this is a minority opinion in the West :p

I have no real qualms with the man's work but its certainly.......divisive.

I mean, not everything he does is a winner, to be sure. But man, LOOK AT THIS! Imagine if we were getting more stuff in line with this than, "yeah, she's in a shirt now. Overcoat, no pants though. I don't know". Take some risks with your alts capcom!

Glad you're not in charge of the alt costumes.

Oh wow, very happily surprised. Officer Chun is sick, and uniformed Cammy is cool though it's getting silly with the whole no pants thing.
Disappointed in Laura's, it doesn't look that bad in the screenshot, but as others have said it's just boring and rushed.

Go away.
Seriously.
I would ask if this happens every time a new game or fighting game comes out but I already know the answer.

I'm gonna be playing this game for a long time. I'd prefer not having to fight half barely dressed bimbos too often. Every time one of these costumes are released it just increases the odds. Just makes me take this game less srsly tbh. One of the many reasons I can't stand Elena.

That's why there should be an option not to see alts online.

I've always seen it as the fact I get to see them.

I don't care if anyone else sees me using it.

I think there are a good number of players who consider that to be the only appeal, but it's undeniable that the costumes would become significantly less popular if other players didn't get to see them. It's the primary factor that drives these aesthetic options; the kind of stuff people always bring up in loot driven games.

I love you, too. <3

I like Hyung Tae Kim, but that's one of the worst pieces you could have chosen.

I think it looks good. Not for a fighting game, but still, the point is to be risky.

I don't want to get to the point where we just throw everyone in a quipao and call it a day either.

But then that would dramatically disincentivize players to acquire the alternate costumes, because part of the appeal is showing them off to opponents.

I've never understood this mentality. The reason I want to buy an alt is because /I/ want to see it. I don't get why people care if others can see the alt or customization they've created unless they're just trying to annoy people, in which case, even more reason to make it an option.

I don't want to see Blanka in a mardi gras outfit. Some of the alts even get in the way of the readability of the characters. I'd rather be able to turn them off online. Colors and customizations, too.

Yeah, but Capcom won't put as much effort into alternate costumes if more people don't buy them, and I bet more people won't buy them if they know that a lot of people might not see them. At least, that's what I think based on the talks and effort surrounding the Dota and LoL models. It could be wrong, and having a toggle wouldn't impact how many people seek the costumes out.

Capcom removing the butt slap yet making some of these costumes really highlights how clueless and stupid they are.

Can't say I really like any of them. Chun's cop outfit is decent. But like jett said, they lack the style and flair of something like SNK.

The outfits are excellent. Capcom has done a great job.

So opinion differ from you = crap?

Well, personally, I do think it's weird that a gif of a side character's tanlines would make somebody interested in a game that's likely to be 30+ hours long and won't feature said character in said gif very much.

So, no, not a crap opinion, but definitely an odd way to decide how to spend 50-60 bucks.
