How is it a dox when Twitter is open to the public and he posts his NeoGAF username right at the top?

Doxxing: search for and publish private or identifying information about (a particular individual) on the Internet, typically with malicious intent.

Perhaps Evilr posted his Twitter to GAF before (not sure), but he didn't post it in this thread. Each thread acts as its own entity separate from the rest, and in this particular thread he chose not to disclose his Twitter handle, hence it's still doxxing. Including his GAF name in his Twitter is irrelevant; someone might say they frequent /b/, but that doesn't mean they'd want /b/ to see their Twitter.

You can't be serious.

evilr has a noticeable pattern on the board specifically in Microsoft/Xbox threads, adds nothing of value to them, and it was rightfully called out. I don't see a problem with this.

Are you his friend?

Never heard of the guy until today; it's just stressful watching 30+ people consecutively bullying somebody, even if he did say something stupid (which I'd argue he didn't, at least not stupid enough to warrant this degree of backlash).

I didn't know he has a history of this behaviour; perhaps calling him out did make sense in the grand scheme (that's not my place to judge), but I'm talking about this particular thread, not any past ones. Was his comment about XB1's brand & sales really that powerful enough to be the tipping point to finally calling him out? I'd argue no; he really didn't say anything too harmful/trollish in this thread, thus I think this 1v30 war is unwarranted (at least in this instance).

Sure it was called for and adds to the discussion. It points out the fact that he is biased and his opinions are therefore not valid when it comes to criticizing Xbox. If he had a neutral point of view it would be ok.

His posts are nothing more than antagonizing bait.

He maintained a fairly neutral perspective throughout this thread, I think. He commented on XB1's consistently disappointing sales and their tarnished brand image, both of which are true to a degree. Do you really think the war against evilr was warranted in this thread?

I'm just disappointed because I would've thought GAF would take the high road and ignore someone they deem a troll, not gang up and bully him. Even if the doxxing was to expose him as a "biased fanboy", I don't agree that the end justified the means. Pretty horrible behaviour from both parties, honestly.

Curious to see what Scalebound will do for the Japanese market, considering it's an Kamiya game; i haven't truly followed the game much becuase I really enjoyed seeing all the release footage. If I'm misguided, spite me, but is there a particular reason he went with Xbox instead of Sony considering how heavily influence the game is with Japanese tropes?

because xbox hired him? i don't understand this notion that because you're making an exclusive game for ms/sony it means you had a reason not to go with the other party.

And for the record, I'm not shitposting Xbox. I have an Xbone and I love it. I just find this kid hilarious.

In any event...99 X1's is pathetic :/

Cause businesses don't work like fan boys? They got hired to make a game, something Sony didn't do. They like paying their bills so they took the job. They don't care how it sells if they get their pay from Microsoft if Microsoft owns the IP. it's up to Microsoft to sell the game. How it will sell in Japan, probably has a chance of beating w101 as their worst selling game in Japan to be honest, but they could sell well in north America if it's marketed right.

You might be right, but I was raked over the coals plenty myself when I was a Junior, once even by Bish, and no one felt sorry for me. So I'm afraid I don't have a whole lot of sympathy for someone who gets called out for an over display of agenda.

Besides, I've seen real bullying on NeoGAF and this isn't real bullying. It's just people poking fun. This place isn't for the meek.

I think a lot of people are just tired of seeing him post garbage in Xbox threads, and perhaps used this as an opportunity to set up a mechanism that incentivizes him to refrain from continuing to post similar garbage in the future, otherwise his character will be called into question.

Pie and Beans

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
The reason my trust in the Xbox brand just disappeared is because they kept pulling the rug on their 'initiatives' after the very first wave. I saw them juke on Sega in the Xbox gen, then again with Mistwalker in the X360 gen, and then they've done a similar thing with Phantom Dust here in the Xbox One era.

They didn't really bunker down and even try to be a truly global console platform so its hard to really throw your chips in with them as a good force for videogaming. There's too many bodies around their ankles without them taking a decade of just going balls to the wall pleasing everyone and not cutting throats after they're deemed expendable.

Hey does that kids hat say " hope worst not situation " lol awesome

I think he tried to squeeze the NOT before the WORST.

Sure, if you look hard enough you'll find his twitter account, but I doubt most people will find him using only "evilr" on twitter/google.

Go ahead... search twitter.

Isn't this your Twitter account? Jesusfuckingchrist indeed.

Lol holy shit!

Evilr is one of the worst repeat offenders at shitposting at anything Xbox related on this forum. I'm amazed he hasn't been banned. I suppose it's entertainment value...

OT, another sad sales thread for Xbox but meh, never expected much from Japan. Its the Germany and France sales that are most alarming.

It's a tough situation because as a business you don't want to shut down shop or ship less because then consumers don't even know you are there or forget. It's like owning a seaside restaurant, you can't just close half the time in winter because then the locals won't remember you.

But at this point it hardly seems worth it for Xbox in Japan. I mean do you have any staff there? Marketing? Shipping contracts? Imagine you paid one staff person 1,000 a week to work there, that's at least 10 consoles if you make say 100 profit on each.
Now imagine you rented a shipping container to get them there.... Ugh depressing.

But overall you take a loss for worldwide presence.
What's more depressing is how long do you let xbox America prop up every other division

It didn't make sense for Microsoft to go back to Japan at the start of the gen with the Xbox One, and it still doesn't now.

360 didn't do that well in those territoires either from what I remember -- inevitable for the Xbox One to do even worse.

Not sure why its position in any of those territoires is surprising at this point.

Yeah maybe the surprise is really how awesome PS4 has sold across the board. Epic numbers.

Its just crazy to me how some people get offended at someone making jokes or remotely insulting their console of choice. I'm trying to understand the mentality, maybe some work for MS or have vested interest in the company or just plain overzealous loyalty?

Anyway, some of the media in this thread are just epic.

It's a real shame. It's a great console and I prefer it's controller. I wish more people in Japan would buy it so that it could receive more Japanese support, particularly non-square RPGs.

You must be joking...

And guys, back on topic!

I just took a quick glance before I said that, I'll be perfectly honest that I haven't seen a lot of his stuff and it's probably for the best I guess.

Anyways, yeah. 99 consoles. They shouldn't have done a traditional launch in Japan. Just the initial release, then have everything else be online orders. Clearly Japan doesn't like the brand for the most part, the people over there that want the console will find a way to get one, outside of that it's just pointless to maintain the presence.

Absolutely atrocious.

Microsoft's inability to foster a global Xbox brand in the past 15 years is just baffling.

This, coupled with the beating they've taken in Europe and the loss of their top-dog status in the US/UK has been the most entertaining development of this console generation.

None of the other console makers can touch Sony when the PS brand is firing on all cylinders.
