Are you still in the lead? What MPH are you typically passing it at? I'm going 163-165.

Same here, usually around 263 km/h and that doesn't seem to be enough. :)

Anyway the current leaderboard is crazy. Far far beyond of what I can achieve, but I'm okay with that. ;)

I've gotten 168.4 MPH and still been 500 pts off. I've been trying to figure out how speed correlates to points, but I don't think it's linear. I wish it showed the speed they got instead of only points.

SigSwat551 really nailed that speed trap. I was playing last night and got green in the first 3 skills, then -1200 in the speed trap... fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

It's also worth mentioning that time left is also converted into points, but I don't think it's a huge difference if you're 1 second faster or slower.

This game does not get enough love. It is so fucking fun to play and incredibly jaw droppingly beautiful.

I'm like 50 gold stars into the main tour and I could not be happier with my purchase.

I found the need for a good exit from the wheelie section wasn't needed. The bike can get up to speed quickly enough, more down to as you say how much you're banking as you take the last bend.

You really need to straighten yourself as much as you can as you pass the trap for that extra couple of MPH.

Are you still in the lead? What MPH are you typically passing it at? I'm going 163-165.

276 -278 km/h (that's 171,5-172,7 in the inferior non-metric system :p )

My first three skills were indeed far from good on my run. There is at least another 400-500 points to gain on the current top score.

Managed to hit 19k and now I'm beat. :D I'm playing using automatic gearbox and I've noticed that it helps to manually switch to fifth gear before the final speed trap. Normally the rpm is around the rev limiter and for some reason it doesn't change when it's supposed to. When I do it myself it's much easier for me to hit a speed of 270+ in that speed trap. :) Gonna try again tomorrow when I get my strength back up. :D

What is this MPH? Civilized people use the metric system.

Yes Maki, the science and engineering fraternity agree with us, but you'll always get the stubborn old heads who will always get over protective over their Imperial measurements. Even sounds classist.

/Grumpy mode.......What's all this bollocks about metric system??!?!!?!?!....../Grumpy mode off.

Point proven. :)

the funny thing is, here in Oz we still like to measure some things the "old" way, namely;
- height
- engine power
- and dick size, I mean "I have a 20.3cm cock", whilst impressive, just doesn't cut it as a brag.

The stupid thing is we fill our cars with petrol priced per litre, then ask how many miles per gallon we'll get and for car tax purposes we'll ask what the CO2 grams per kilometre is...

And today I've learned I do NOT like skill challenges, where I like the drifting in the drift challenges and just don't like the scoring system, skill challenges are well just boring the wheelieing and stoppieing are so easy there essentially uncompetitive and it all comes down to simply who is fastest through a speed trap. What an exciting entire game mode... Bleh

Also even having been brought up (education wise anyway) on the metric system, MPH forever baby.

I played some online multiplayer races last night.... and now I hate everyone.

Why do people drive like this is destruction derby? and these aren't new players, guys with level 85 and most skill levels done, but just ram, ram, ram.
I don't think I'm being whiny, as I don't mind the odd love-tap or two...

I'm convinced they're not all bad, it's just that they have a "if you can't beat them join them attitude".

Welcome to literally every driving game's online multiplayer. Seriously, online has always been Mad Max Simulator for pretty much all racing games for as long as I can remember.

Any hardcore updates?

Just got a t150 and have been giving this a go. Played up to the high 60's with a controller.

I'm liking the overall feel, could use some more road feedback though, most of the forces seem to only come from the car and not undulations from the surface your driving on.

I don't like posting about bad online experiences any more cos I feel like a whinger, but when fast guys resort to those tactics it's so frustrating - this game can be played properly and when you have a good clean close race it's wonderful, it's just a shame these seem so few and far between these days.

Part of this may well be that a lot of the slower guys have either caught up or quit, so you don't have the same offset between the fastest and slowest so everyone is bunched up a lot more. The best races I have are usually when teammates or acquaintances get away from the pack so can follow racing lines without getting t-boned or rear ended.

Tonight I had a guy target me, take me out repeatedly on straights (he was using a koiningsegg(SP!) and when I messaged him after, it was all cos he had a beef with a teammate - WTF! Talking to him just made the ramming worse too...

mph? Yeah well it is mile per hour (metric system). I changed the setting into Imperial (km/h) because I am living in Asia.

I am not getting used to metric system because each time I looking at the numbers, the cars feel slow, lol.

=====

I know this is a rant, but you know what? January to February transition feels very loooong since I am waiting the news for February update. This is already quarter of first week and Rushy does not tell us anything (yeah maybe normally I should wait until weekend).

But still, uuugh.

Well then, no worries, I am just impatient.

Other way around.

Metric = millimetre (0.001), centimetre (0.01), metre (1), kilometre (1000).
Imperial = Inch, foot, yard, mile (don't remember how to break that down)

It is even more confusing when you add which side the steering wheel is ...

These are the ones I know...
US - Left + MPH
UK - Right + MPH
Mainland EU - Left + Km/h
Japan - Right + Km/h

I am confused by the online menu. Doesn't the game allow for a random quick online race? The online menu is just count down timers with a number of them being completely empty. It isn't smooth for me to play online (and I have no idea what race I'm getting into) and it was especially frustrating since a non-gamer liked the game and wanted to play with real people and I couldn't get him online.
Is there a server search, a mode filter, something? Any tips or guidance on how to navigate the online page?

Oh man you haven't even seen the true stuff yet, wait till you get into Super class and the DLCs.

Complete the main tour, which will put a huge smile on your face, then snag the Bikes extension, which will basically blow you out of your socks. You picked the right time to get into Driveclub.

Not really sure what the issue is here.

Drive | Driveclub | Multiplayer | Event Browser takes you to a list of online events showing track, vehicle type, weather. laps etc - select an event then register and you're in...

There's no quick race option but it doesn't really need one.

Sounds like he may have just been having trouble finding a game due to lack of players online, and was looking for a quick start option to just get into a race. It would be nice to have a cars/bikes option for a quick race, because I myself have had trouble finding any folks to race with at times.

I don't find it surprising that he finds the online set-up odd. You aren't usually presented with events + timers in other racing titles, especially when said events have no players there to compete.

Ah right, doesn't tend to be an issue with cars here in the UK but bike races can be hard to find - I don't see what a quick race option would do other than put you in the first race on the list tho.

It's sad that you can't report voice chat to Sony. It would be very easy to implement since the console is recording the last few minutes anyway.

Probably the best place to ask.
Ordered Driveclub on Amazon and it arrives tomorrow was £12 after I had some money left over from gift card.

I was wondering, the season pass is a must, but has there been any talk of a second season of content?

More out of curiousity the question.

No, but we're getting a big update this month, hopefully that will also include more news about what they have in store this year. We do know that they are working on new city tracks. Since all the tracks released after launch have been free so far, i can imagine they're also working on more purchasable dlc, hopefully enough to warrant another season pass. In the meantime, there's the Driveclub Bikes expansion, which came out after the conclusion of the season pass. :)

Personally I think the season pass is a must. It definitely helps flesh out the vehicle roster to a respectable number. The bike expansion is absolutely worth it as well.

My biggest gripe with the season pass is that there were no new tracks released and its getting a bit old running on the same tracks over and over, need some fresh ones.

Im gonna get lambasted for this but the online setup is terrible. Add some seriously low player numbers and its basically broken.

...and for a game with the quickest loading I've ever seen, the amount of time just sitting in a lobby watching that countdown timer is criminal. Nobody ever waits for it and you end up with a dead room after the first race.

I do however love time trials and can play them endlessly for hours. Really like how the leaderboards are setup, so kudos for that.

That's what I'm talking about. And why oh why would there be countdowns for rooms that are completely empty?!

Because the game adheres to the rules of the universe.

Events have a start time. It would be impossible to know no one wants to play that Event until the timer reaches zero for that Event.

Now you could sit there any tell me that having an Event browser system is rubbish, but what you've said about empty rooms and timers is totally illogical.
