In for anything remotely involving games like splatoon. Good on Nintendo.
That'd be asking for too much, like asking Disney to ditch Mickey Mouse or for DC to ditch Batman. For such a conservative business, this is pretty amazing. I hope they do away with franchises all together.
I hope that we have developers that work outside the confines of a traditional Nintendo game with cutesy characters. I would love to see Nintendo branch out as they have the best developers in the world. Not everything has to be cartoony.
People in here really thinking Nintendo is going to start making gritty, realistic open world AAA Hollywood-esque games?
Lord I hope not.
Wasn't Splatoon made by the younger folk? This is great news! I love the old dudes, but they often get in the way with some of the franchises. A younger folk means a more modern Nintendo.
Not a single western R&D Manager...
Yeah. Those gamers won't buy a dedicated gaming hardware for premium priced software, but the question is if the other traditional franchises that were influenced by the expanded audience will go back to their pre Wii/DS roots.
I mean is it necessary to continue the NSMB style of 2D Mario? I always figured the safe/clean approach was to make the game more inviting and less daunting to casual gamers. Now that they're gone, there's no reason not to go all out production value wise and experiment with interesting environments, like what DKC TF does.
I would like to hear them do the same at NOA, maybe they can get better western support. 1st party-3rd party.
Glorious young Nintendo developers, leading us to the golden age of online shooters and open world games that the market craves.
Gritty? Nah. But Zelda is already going open world, and Splatoon is Nintendo's first entry in the AAA online multiplayer low TTK fast respawn shooter with endless progression systems.
If Nintendo wants to make games that appeal to young people, they need to be in genres young people want to buy

Hopefully this means miyamoto can keep his dirty hands off people's projects.
That's cool.
These younger people like Metroid, right?
Hopefuly these young guys like F-Zero.
Ahaha whatFor such a conservative business, this is pretty amazing. I hope they do away with franchises all together.
Nintendo are thinking the same thing we've all been thinking for a while; that the young guns truly mark the future of the company. They need their time in the spotlight, and have proven they have the chops.
Man, I would love a Wave Race game for the NX. It would be a great launch game. Here's to hoping there's a F-Zero or Waverace fan in the bunch.
All those toxic gameplay-first philosophies.Did Miyamoto help create and teach the team that went on to make Splatoon?
Do you honesty really think he interferes in everything?
the gameplay first philosphy that the splatoon team used was something specifcally taught to them by miyamotoDid Miyamoto help create and teach the team that went on to make Splatoon?

Now Koizumi won't have to sneak things past Miyamoto! Seriously though I hope he's in a position now that can bring out their Tokyo offices even more, and maybe even have more to show than just Mario. It's a shame he never got to make more original software as a director, but maybe he can arrange for original software from younger talent.
Doing away with Mario and Zelda is silly. But creating new franchises? That's smarter. Allows them to reach newer audiences and keep the old ones interestedFor such a conservative business, this is pretty amazing. I hope they do away with franchises all together.

His software is original in all but name. But yea, I wonder what he'd do with total free rein and resources at his disposal.
