PSVR Price: $399/399/£349/¥44,980, no camera/move, launching October

What's the FOV on this thing? I used the Gear VR and while the headtracking (on the phone) was really nice, the limited FOV made it much less immersive than I was expecting. I still felt like I was looking through some binoculars or something. I want something that doesn't have immediately noticeable borders.

So considering that the PS4 camera is needed, and the taxes, the real price most likely be well over $500. Hillarious PR tactic from Sony making a bundle that doesn't contain everything needed for PSVR to actually work. This thing will be most likely abandoned by Sony after 1st year like all the peripherals/accesories they've made for their consoles.

What I need to know last is the specs of this thing.

Wait, will the Camera be needed? I figured it would just be needed for Move

The price is excellent for new tech. The only odd thing is the lack of inclusion of the camera seeing how integral it is to the whole experience. Not including Move controllers I can understand, since you can use the DS4. But you really can't do anything with the headset without the camera.

I have the Move controllers already from the PS3. Same thing for the PS4?

And while I don't expect the PS3 camera to work for this on the PS4, I'm having trouble understanding what the camera is for at all...is it for the Move controllers themselves?

Probably asked already but: do you need the controller? I know you need the camera, but are there certain games that would require a Move controller? I just want to use my DS4 and nothing else.

If no: day 1.

I'll pick it up next year, when it's on sale and bundled with the camera and move controller(s).

$399 (plus shitty Canadian exchange rate) is a bit too much for me right now.

Price seems just right honestly! So excited. I don't care for move or camera anyways. I just want headset control for my walking sims lol

So you have to have a camera and move controllers? You can't just use the headset and a ds4

considering most people don't have a $1500 PC price is pretty OK i guess

i'd bite but oculus ran up my tab for the year. i'm a sucker for sony exclusives though, so sooner rather than later

Lol at some Sony fanboys saying they won already the "VR wars".

$400 with an inferior screen and fov in the HMD, without the camera for positional tracking, and without any controller.
vs $600 of the Rift (with camera, wireless Xbox pad, good audio solution, 2 free games, case to transport it and even a remote control) vs $800 of the Vive (with 2 Lighthouses, 2 controllers, integrated camera for chaperone/AR) isn't exactly winning already the "VR war". It's more like the expected, or even a bit more expensive than that, because I supposed the camera would be included, maybe even one Move controller.

Because it doesn't include the camera, which is integral to even getting an experience that can even be remotely called VR. Like, is it even functional without the camera?

Camera is 40 bucks....and they will have a bundle with the camera most like;y . Why would they force everyone to buy the camera when millions already have it?

Nah.

I'm not especially interested in VR to begin with, but this price point doesn't even justify it from a curiosity standpoint. I'm not going to pay more for an addon than I did for the box required to use it.

The DS4 is about as much of a VR controller as any other dual analog controller.

I'm really disappointed that Vive is the only platform shipping with fully tracked dedicated VR controllers out of the box.

The Vive is the only VR headset doing it right, honestly, as expensive as it is.

Sony said this would be "affordable". $399, regardless of the inclusion of the camera, is not that. When your accessory is more than the cost of the console, it's not going to be viewed as affordable to the average customer.

This is Gen 1 VR. Be glad it was't $449-$499 like some suspected. It is certainly more "affordable" than the competition. That is, of course, a relative measure.

Whether Sony can sell $400-$500 VR setups to tight-budgeted console gamers remains to be seen.

PS4 camera was $30 on black friday too

we all had a chance, it will never be that price again lol, welp

I see no reason to assume we won't see similar discounts for the next Black Friday.

Not including the Camera and Move controller really makes me think they will get really shitty support. I imagine most devs wont even bother supporting it.
