Splatoon |OT4| You're a detriment to your squad

There's already a roller with beakons but it's my dream sub for dynamo in RM. It's difficult to chase the fish with dynamo, and the upcoming swim speed nerf doesn't help either.

Hey we got another charger with burst bombs, another brush with splat bombs and kraken, and a bucket with splat bombs and inkzooka. Anything is relatively possible I imagine.

I wonder what it must be like to not like seafood in Japan

This is, honestly, the biggest (only?) reason why I have no interest at all in actually traveling to Japan.

Not so sure about the Soda Slosher kit. THE MACHINE is already there for a "keep your distance" splat bomb-using slosher, and the default brand already uses burst bombs if you want a quick one-two punch attack. Slosher Deco is the more defensive build, so exactly what role does this thing cover that isn't already covered better by other buckets? I guess if you really struggle to get used to the Sloshing Machine's spiral shots there's that, but I'm not really feeling it on paper. Boozer Mk III makes more sense, except they really should have called it the Mk 0 or something else to call more to its retro appearance.

Next JP Splatfest.

In Japan, the 13th Splatfest will take place on April 23rd and 24th, and is sponsored by 7-Eleven (one of the biggest chains of convenience stores in Japan). This time, Japanese players have to chose between two flavours of 7-Eleven Onigiri (rice balls): Tuna mayonnaise or Matured Red Salmon.

But no need to launch Splatoon in order to vote and get your Splatfest t-shirt: voting hasn’t started yet. Indeed, the 13th Splatfest hasn’t even been announced yet anywhere (let alone Japan), even though the official website in Japan has already been updated for some reason. Since voting starts exactly one week before the actual Splatfest, we can assume we will get a proper announcement on Saturday (Friday evening for North America).

How strange, Not even announced on their twitter yet.
Perhaps a mistake or too busy with the new weapons

Sad to see no bubble on dynamo for the meltdowns, though this kit does make it practical on its weakest map. But if you're going to use a roller on Port, carbon deco says hi...

Fresh squiffer was the only decent thing to come out of Vol 1 imo.

The only weapon in this set I'm interested in is the Berry Splattershot Pro.

There's a second set of eight coming, isn't there? Do we have any idea what's in it?

No, there's no mention of any of the other new things yet.

I'm not too sure yet which of these I'd actually try and use, especially since I'm going to try and focus in on more learning with what I already have instead of the constant random experiments I've been doing. All the jumping around has led to more frustration than it has answers, so I think outside of a cursory test I might not stick with any of these if they don't jump out immediately. Vanilla Splattershot vs. Refurb Mini should be an interesting comparison to keep an eye on.

Discord pls.

After getting a chuckle out of the notion of swimming down seeker lines with the Port/Camp Dynamo in a post weapon weight world, I realized that this variant is literally going to be hell to deal with on those two maps.

Yeeeeah just went down for me as well. Welp. Splatoon OT temporary resurgence part 3.

Yeah there's a Vol. 2, but no deets yet. Some weapons I can expect are a new sloshing machine (plz), aerospray, rapid blaster and H-3 nozzlenose.

As far as weapons I'm excited for: Wasabi Splattershot, Bamboozler Mk III, Refurb Mini Splatling, and the Permanent Inkbrush. 4/8, not bad :p

I think Tempered Dynamo could also be useful on Moray and Mall. I've had a lot of problems on Moray with shooters rushing past me and running straight up our side. Seeker will at least give it the ability to chase even if you swim slow. I see a lot more uses for Tempered Dynamo than I do for Gold.

My hopes/predictions for vol II.

H3 Nozzlenose ( Disruptor, Bubbler)
Rapid blaster (Burst Bomb, Echolocator)
Aerospray (Beakon, Kraken) - Avoid while getting map control and building Kraken
Splash-o-matic (Point Sensor, Bubbler)
Sloshing Machine (Disruptor, Echolocator)
Splat Roller (Disruptor, Inkstrike) -Disruptor into new inkstrike anyone?
Heavy Splatling (Beakon, Echolocator)
Jet Squelcher (Seeker, Bomb Rush) - Maybe it can pick off some long range kills during the chaos?
Top 5 being underpowered weapons with good sets, bottom 3 something different.

I'm looking forward to figuring out what type of bullshit the new model mini will bring with the ability to crank out BBR at an alarming rate:

Looking forward to trying the wasabi splattershot, permanent inkbrush and refurbished mini splat!!!

As for volume two. there is the zink mini splatling with bubble, there is the custom hydra splatling with bubble therefore there should be a heavy splatling with bubble too >:D Make it happen Nintendoooooo.

I want DS with some combination of disruptor/point sensor and bubbler/kraken

This would be nice too :)

It already has a Kraken one.

Also splatlings don't need invincibility specials in the first place, it's really stupid that all three have one

I like bubble waaay more than kraken ;A; Thus I present this combo as my selfish wish!

I was actually predicting a Heavy with burst bomb sub since Mini has suction and Hydra has splat but now the refurbished mini splat has burst bombs so idk anymore ^^; Well there's no splatling with killer wail so maybe it'll get that and errrr ink mine? >.> Wait, maybe beacons!

Burst bombs made perfect sense on the eliter. What else would you give it? Ink mine? lol.

Something that doesn't give it the best close-range sub in the game to go along with the best range in the game lol.

I like how the new Mini Splatling is just like the original Mini in that it simply duplicates the Splattershot but with the Splatling weapon type behind it. Not kidding, I really do think it's neat since it allows you to choose.

New Dynamo sounds like an excellent Rainmaker weapon.

You will use bubble brush and like it
Yeah, probably QQ. I've been practicing my bubble brush game and I actually found myself in a situation where I saw a teammate in trouble, hit the jets to make it in time, bubbled to get through the fire, and saved a life. But overall I'm kind of rubbish with brushes.

Technically the Inkbrush Nouveau is in the roller family.
Yes and no, y'know? Are blasters and rapid blasters the same family? Because I would argue they share exactly the same genealogical relationship as brushes have with rollers. One side of the family has OHKOs, the other doesn't but attacks faster, while all share similar mechanics. Let's call them "cousins."

Don't y'all try to quash my dreams. That's for the devs. :p

I think he's saying that the brushers are technically in the roller class of weapons. All blasters are shooters, and there are chargers, splatlings and sloshers to make the five classes.

I've picked this game up again after not playing it for like 6 months. It's even better than I remembered!

A couple questions though- I've been enjoying using the dual squelcher, but I never see ANYONE play with it online. Is there something wrong with it? It definitely sucks running up against brush/splattershot/jr/roller in CQ, but other than that I find it always gives me good options, and much more ability to pressure and take territory than some of the other non-charge weapons.

Second, I never see people ink their own bases anymore, they just run straight in and start trying to reclaim/deny enemy ink. Has the meta/theory changed such that this is the way to go, or am I just playing with idiots?

Third, what are some good gear loadouts? I have absolutely no idea how to go about making a build.

Thanks!

Welcome back!
The Dual Squelcher is a great weapon, but most people favorite the Splattershots.
Yep most people don't paint the base. What can I say. It isn't very exciting. I paint the base.
I always like Swim Speed Up.

The theory as I understand it is that map control is most important, and whoever gets splatted first should paint the base when they respawn. That said, I try to fire a few shots sideways as I head mid.

I've found that inking the base after you get splatted the first time to be more useful, It really feels like whoever gets the farthest on the first charge makes a difference on how the match goes.

DS used to be really popular but has fallen out of favor for the following reasons:
1. Nintendo increased the points required to build echo, making it harder for DS to build special
2. The coldblooded meta happened, making echo less useful
3. .96 Gal Deco released.

So now days people prefer to play other shooters in the DS's range group (really just .96 deco)

.96 Gal, Splattershot Pro and DS all have the same range. Out of these DS has the highest time to kill and requires the most shots to kill (.96 (2) > SSPro (3) > DS (4))

It's in the middle accuracy wise SSPro > DS > .96

Its advantages over the other two are that it has the highest run speed, highest ink efficiency, and best ink coverage. The problem is that it has a slower ttk and that it can be pretty hard to land 4 hits on people in a game with such high mobility.

Most people try to gain control of the middle of the map early and then paint their side of the map throughout the game.

Builds depend a lot on what weapon you are using. For DS you might want to go with some run speed up to maximize your mobility advantage over .96 and SSpro. You might also want to consider some special saver to help you get more echos off, since it can be hard to build echo since the nerf, and defense up could help you have time to land the fourth shot in some situations, but with defense up you'll generally want to stack a lot of it.

Personally, things tend to work best for me if I hang back a bit and get some coverage.

Of course, I main Aerospary RG in turf wars, so that may have something to do with it.

Finally made it to S+ and only through the horrible experience of solo as well!

that 20+ vibe

Congratulations. I'm slowly making my way back to A+, but after my horrible experience, I think I'm going to stay there and never play the Rank Playlist for a million years.

With the upcoming 2.7.0 update though, [Forge/Berry] Splattershot Pro gets a slightly better range (△ Range increased by about 5%) which makes it the second longest-range shooter behind [Custom] Jet Squelcher.
Also, .96 Gal [Deco] gets a non-negligible accuracy boost (△ Spread reduced by about 11%).

EDIT: Also realized I had not seen yet the 2.7.0 changes outside of weapons as people here were linking the Australian PDF instead of the Japanese changelog ( https://www.nintendo.co.jp/wiiu/agmj/update/index.html ) / splatoonwiki ↓

Splatfest adjustments
  • Changed the initial Splatfest Power value for rank S+.

Stage adjustments
  • Saltspray Rig: Adjustments to prevent players from taking certain shortcuts in all modes.
  • Bluefin Depot: Fixed a problem where players could go inside a certain object in Rainmaker mode.
  • Flounder Heights: Adjustments to prevent users from taking certain shortcuts in Tower Control mode.

Fixes for issues in battles
  • Fixes an issue wherein players could perform a Super Jump while holding the Rainmaker if their connection speed was exceptionally slow.
  • Fixes an issue wherein on rare occasions players near to a Splash Wall wouldn’t suffer damage, even before the Splash Wall is activated.
  • Fixes an issue wherein if a placed Suction Bomb comes into contact with a Splash Wall and explodes, sometimes the blast damage would go beyond the Splash Wall.
  • Fixes an issue wherein opponents completely hidden by obstacles in the way could be hit by an Inkzooka or Rainmaker attack fired upwards.
  • Fixes an issue wherein Splash Walls would sometimes not take damage when hit by an Inkzooka or Rainmaker attack.
  • Fixes an issue wherein players could hit opponents on the other side of a Splash Wall with a Rainmaker attack, depending on the position where it hits the Splash Wall.
  • Fixes an issue wherein if multiple players set an Ink Mine at the same time, they would sometimes explode on their own, despite not being painted in the opposing colour, no opposing players being close and their maximum time before automatically exploding not being reached.
  • Fixes an issue wherein players could take damage from a friendly Ink Mine, depending on their relative position.
  • Fixes an issue wherein when aiming at a Kraken on the ground the display wouldn’t change to a cross to indicate it would hit, despite the crosshairs being over the target, and where Seekers would not follow Krakens.
