Even then there were plenty of battles outside of the trenches in Western Europe. The trenches were only really a factor in the middle of the war after the initial German thrust and before the exiting of Russia and entrance of America into the war.

The way pop culture goes, yeah, it's just trenches in west europe and maybe enough of the eastern front to tie in the Russian revolution.

While I super doubt this game would have it, you'd also have some potential in the (admittedly small) African and Pacific fronts. Hell, they could then turn around and use the assets for the Pacific front in a subsequent WW2 game, since they were on some of the same islands.

To me it looks like a C96 and a MP18 is whats on his back. Looks like a snail drum to me, combined with the heat shield and the wooden stock, thats my best guess.

All of that was available starting in 1917/18, so US involvement in WWI

Though his outfit is odd, there were cape-ish jackets in WWI but his outfit doesn't strike me as a doughboy

I haven't played it yet, but Verdun on PC is a WW1 shooter.

I know about Verdun, but from what I've heard it's really janky and generally not very good.

We've never really had a big, competent AAA shooter in the WWI setting so this will be very interesting to see if they can make the setting work in a multiplayer shooter, which i'm pretty sure DICE can.
