Does SE not have their own conference this year? I'd expect them to showcase FFXV/FFVII's gameplay footage there. But then again, they allowed Sony to announce the FFVII remake at Sony's own stage so I wouldn't be surprised to see those games at the Playstation conference again.

FFVII Remake E3 Rumour Thread

This thread still makes me grin like an idiot.
They don't have a conference this year. FFXV will most likely be there and FFVIIR I hope so but they'll probably not show it. Though I think it would be wise of SE to clarify what is in FFVIIR part 1 now (and give an idea of the scale of each part for the people who have interpreted it as small Telltale-esque episodes).

Last year's show set unrealistic expectations, so all the insane people who want a new Crash game (like me) are just setting themselves up for disappointment. Hope I'm wrong though.

Don't see another "dreams" E3 like last year but I do see an excellent show with a few new games shown but mostly just updates and release dates for the 2016 and 2017 games.

Sounds realistic. And, for me, pretty boring. There's maybe two games on that list I'm passionately interested in, and both I've already seen plenty of and just want to play.

Hype defused for now. Probably for the best.

The rumors so far made it seems like a DayZ, H1Z1, The Forest, etc kinds of game.
If the game isn't like any of those, then it'll be on my radar.

Lol if it's anything like these games then i am out. I actually thought that it would have a single player campaign.

Anyway just rumours we will see in a dew days.

Ooh okay. So SE's livestreaming their own event. Ala a staggered Nintendo Direct I guess. Thanks for the link btw.

Though I think it would be wise of SE to clarify what is in FFVIIR part 1 now (and give an idea of the scale of each part for the people who have interpreted it as small Telltale-esque episodes).

Same. Hoping for more info on FFVIIR too but it looks like they'll be focusing primarily on FFXV (as they should). It does look like they have a nice line-up of games for their livestream though so that's exciting ✌🏼️

I love the response right after:
"These three games will never see the light of day". :p

It's always fun to look back at these threads in retrospect.

This seems to be way too many Japanese games to feel realistic.

Your show would be like four hours long.

I think people are fucking crazy to think NMS will be a PSVR game. It's a natural fit no doubt, but from a technical perspective it seems nigh impossible. As of a few months ago they couldn't even get the game running in demos without severe pop-in issues, and yet now we expect them to get it running at a higher resolution and significantly higher framerate while being super clean and stable? Seems like a pipe dream to me.

In its current for it isn't a natural fit at all - locomotion when you're on the ground is trad FPS to start with.

Sean's comments about VR for NMS were along the lines of a kind of virtual safari on planets the player has already discovered, and whatever else it won't be happening until when after the release date.

Unclear. But Shinobi rumors so far never describes it as a single player game either.

Hopefully single-player with the OPTION for co-op. Based on the little we know so far it seem like a game that could be fun with friends. But Bend such a small studio(I know they expanded but still fairly small) that I'm not sure they have enough manpower to incorporate MP.

Could Square be crazy enough to announce FFXVI?
They've done it many times (announce the next mainline FF before the current one is out) so it's not impossible. But I doubt it, it would be weird to announce it when FFXV is getting its huge promotional push. And they have so many announced projects that still need to come out.

I think I am most excited to see God of War IV. Do you guys think it will just be a teaser trailer sort of thing or might we get a demo/gameplay trailer?

I believe there will be a trailer with some cinematic gameplay, like Horizon's last trailer. It could be shown with a trailer and a demo, but I think Dead Don't Ride will be shown like that.

Not much to get excited about there, it's basically 2015 all over again with a couple of new mixed in.

Although I do hope we get a worldwide Vita price drop. I could do with buying a second unit as back up/to take to work with me.

I'm still 50/50 on FF7 and shenmue 3 actually coming out

I'd be more worried about Shenmue 3 than FF7R, but both will eventually come out. It's silly that they're breaking FF7R into three parts, but I can see why it makes sense from a business standpoint. Provided that the first one is well-received, that trilogy is going to sell like crazy.

Three big first party announcements is about what I've come to expect from a single conference. There will no doubt be more smaller titles and a third party exclusive or two.

That said, if the spirit of Gopher's post is true then maybe it will be more if they're just gonna throw out everything.

There has to be more. There just has to be.

I'm not convinced there will be much more in the way of brand new console games. People have complained for the last two years about Sony's lack of exclusive titles. They've been in development. Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted 4, Alienation, The Last Guardian, GT Sport, Gravity Rush 2, Kill Strain, Drawn to Death, Horizon, Dead Don't Ride, God of War PS4, The Tomorrow Children, What Remains of Edith Finch, Dreams, Detroit, Bound, Matterfall, WiLD, Untitled Sucker Punch Project, Spider-Man Project, Knack 2 (?). And this even fails to account for some important Japanese exclusives and console exclusives, as well as third party exclusives SIE may ultimately have a hand in developing. And VR stuff.

But the point is that all of this will likely come out between April 2016 and November 2017. One or two might slip into 2018, but given what has just been released and what the next year and a half will look like, there simply cannot be a ton of first and second-party projects in production that we don't know about.

Off the top of my head, it's Sucker Punch and Pixelopus that are unaccounted for, in terms of 1P. Cambridge may have a second project in the works (Killzone, if you extrapolate a bit from some hiring), but it's extremely unlikely that it will be announced soon. Foster City and SIE Japan could have their fingers in a small pie or two that we haven't heard about.

Point is, 2016-17 seems like a golden age for PS4 and at this moment, it seems like we know 90% of what's coming from the 1P and 2P studios.

I also expect something like this.
Lots of updates, tons of great games, a few new big titles announced.
But I can't think of surprises bigger than FFVIIR and Shenmue 3 being announced and TLG resurfacing after years of silence all in the same conference.
Even if Crash happened (and it won't especially if the rumors about Knack 2 are true) and RDR2 happened, it wouldn't be anywhere close to the surprise level of last year. Certain things can only happen once in a lifetime and that's why they're special.

Once in a lifetime? Come on now, that's some crazy hyperbole. Real video games have only really been around since 1992, it's still a very young industry. We've got time.

Yeah of course it was hyperbolic :D
Once in a decade sounds better? :p
I meant that it's not something that you can top easily otherwise it wouldn't be special.
