Xbox One S has additional CPU/GPU power, games can look and run better

So just put in my preorder for the S. I like what MS are doing here with this, the Scorpio and PC; basically they are telling me that any investment I make in games carries with me throughout my HW choices and that is a great thing.

Gears 4 still has 'framerate/resolution penalties' with the S model so it must be a fairly insignificant bump.

Exactly. Thread full of people freaking out about a possible slight bump in performance for some games that Microsoft didn't even mention, acting like its a new iteration.

You can get the adapter for free. Kinect still works with Xbox One S (and I'm going to presume Scorpio too)

A little off topic but I'm curious to how many HDMI out ports the Scorpio will have if the rumors of it supporting both Vive and Rift are true. You would need at least 2 if you were to have a headset and TV plugged in at the same time as well as possibly some dedicated USB 3.0 ports.

This is something 360 and PS3 both could have done but intentionally didn't; their various hardware revisions effectively increased the specs (slightly) a few times, but things were configured to discard those changes.

Microsoft has become a confusing company. It comes with a controller. It doesn't come with a controller. It has higher specs, or it's just a slim. Like get your message together. Jesus.

Sounds like they upped the clock on Jaguar slightly. I believe there was some headroom on it when it taped out so this isn't too surprising.

It's not a huge boost, but it'll help provide stability and consistency in texturing and framerates, possibly resolution.

Say, halo 5 scales resolution to maintain fps. With the S, it's being suggested that such a title wouldn't need to scale as much.

I'm just confused about how they said it launches at $299 this August, but now the "launch edition" this August is actually $399...with this 2tb hard drive..

When does the$299 one actually launch?

Yeah what moron spread that it wasn't going to come with a controller. The damn thing was advertised with the controller.

People these days.

Like a Apple S or other Smartphone.

This gen never fails to disappoint me.

They probably didn't talk about it because it probably just makes the console equal to the PS4. Not really a message you want to talk about publicly, "Guys, we finally matched the PS4!" I am guessing a slight GPU boost and a CPU clock boost to 2.1Ghz.

Equal to the PS4 is a big jump, close the gap somewhat I can buy.

Someone was saying September for the 1TB and the 500GB. It was in another one of the slim threads.

It would have to have at least 2 HDMI out, for sure.

FWIW here's the S's ports.

Well, I know what the Slim has lol

The talk about Kinect and such had me wondering how many ports will be on the back/front of the Scorpio. My bad for the confusion.

Edit: just saw your edit. I wonder if they would consider hiding an HDMI out along with a USB 3 on the front to make it easy to plug a VR headset in that way.

This leaves existing xbox three quarter owners out in the cold.

Xbox three quarter owners will be where they would be, regardless of the two additional consoles. They will get 100% of the games with 100% of the content running at the same framerates as they always would. The S and Scorpio owners will just get some improvements.

Yep. It's a win for everyone in the Xbox ecosystem.
