I have DirectX 11 already. Is there some kind of update it needs?

My i5 750/GTX 770 combo isn't quite up to the task. The game is playable, but it chugs when 3+ monsters appears. (Using default settings).
I have an i5 3570k and 4gb 770 and am running it at in game ultra, 1080p at 60fps. The 750 can't be holding you back that much can it?

Had to drop everything to medium with no AA, but I'm getting absolute 60 fps at 1080p.

The demo is so fucking good. The classic level made me grin like an idiot.

That was really underwhelming...

Neither the shotgun nor the pistol felt particularly great, the level design seemed to boil down to "kill everyone in this arena to unlock the doors" and the enemies weren't particularly exciting.

I know this obviously isn't a great representation of the whole game but it definitely hasn't helped convince me to play it...

You won't be using the pistol at all except to shoot barrels to save ammo. Keep in mind that shotgun has two separate upgrade paths with 3 perks each. You also get 6 other guns that you will be constantly switching between, including a different double barreled shotgun, and the enemies you fight in the first level are really just the fodder enemies that you kill for health in between fighting other enemies.

It looks like it's just a regular demo on Steam at least - is it really only being offered to download this week? Can we play the demo forever once downloaded?

Tried it last night...very fun. Will definitely buy it at some point.

Ran at >60fps, mostly 80's, on my R9 380 4gb, mix of ultra and high settings

So I loved this game on PS4 I mean LOVED IT. It's one of the best games I have played in the last few years. I was always curious how this would run on my aging gaming PC. I installed the demo last night and after some tweaking I was shocked to see my ole trusty 660ti could push this on high with shadows on low at 1080 with a tiny bit of AA mixed in and still get 60fps.

The game was great on PS4, but playing this with my KB/M is just...perfection. I think I will be rebuying this today. I don't mind giving ID more of my money, they deserve it with this game.

Played it on mates ps4 this morning, gonna try it on my pc before pulling trigger. But apart from not being able to aim with controller, what i played was great.

I don't think i've been this quickly convinced of a game in awhile lol. Was already planning to get it, less than 15 mins with the demo to absolutely cement that now. If i had any doubts they've been ripped and torn to shreds. Any other places with better deals on the game? GMG has that 20% off coupon for it.

I was keen to buy this, but was waiting for a price drop.

Anyway after playing the demo on the PS4 I had to buy $60 worth of PSN credit to buy it.

Just the short demo was absolutely incredible. So fun to play and one of the nicest looking games I've played on the PS4.

Yeah without a doubt. Hoping the demo sells more people on this game.
I'm sold on it. It feels a lot more like classic Doom than I thought it would. I just don't have the excess in my video games part of my budget to insta-buy it.

I have one question for the full game, which may be a bit of a spoiler. When you get the new BFG, does Doom Guy give it a loving hug like in the Doom Comic? I mean, considering how much the first level actually references that, I'm hoping the answer is yes.

so, i tried the demo on my PS4.

The game feels super rad, but i'm a very methodical, FarCry kind of shooter player who goes for all the secrets and all the challenges. I somehow felt like the game was rushing me.

I was actually thinking about buying and platinuming Doom, but the first level kinda scared me off.
It was semi-linear and whenever i took a break to check the nooks and crannies for possible secrets, i felt like i was doing a disservice to the game.

Does that eventually change?

This thread is a heads up for developers..

HELLO DEVELOPERS, WE MISS DEMOS. DEMOS LET US TEST OUR HARDWARE AND SOLD GAMES. BRING OUT MORE DEMOS.

Thanks.

I wouldn't say it rushes you at all. If anything it encourages you to explore and find all the secrets in the game. To me this sounds like a great game for you, I had a ton of fun searching every nook and cranny looking for that one last secret, something I really never do in games. But Doom is special, I had to find all of those little Doom Guys and if you look hard enough you can even find some guns you usually don't "normally" find till later on in the game. It's built to explore.

Hmmm I am having trouble remembering it exactly but I don't think so.

I think the digital code is still $59 either way sadly. But you could order the physical for the cheaper price. It's just a steam code with a disc.

Can't unfortunately, I'm in Australia and Amazon for me anyway always seems to have exorbitant shipping costs. No worries, I'll either grab the GMG or wait a bit for a better discount somewhere. Might try out eBay, every now and then I strike gold with pricing.

It's great to see that the demo seems to convince many people to get this game.

I paid 60€ for it at release day and rarely was I so glad I spent that amount of money for a game after finishing it. The developers really deserve every single cent.

To those who enjoyed the demo: I envy you because you still can discover the rest of the game. It's amazing from start to finish.

No hug but the introduction of the BFG is pretty awesome. They built a whole level around it and even before there is build-up to the level.

I played through the demo last night on PC and then on PS4. Surprisingly, the PS4 version looked pretty much equal to the PC version to my eyes. I'm sure there were differences, but nothing stood out. And I was running at all Ultra settings on PC at my monitor's refresh rate (60hz). The game was great though, definitely picking this up.

Anyone else try both versions? Am I crazy?
The PS4 version of this game looks stunning. Obviously it looks even better on a high-end PC (shadow quality, particles) but DF had nothing but praise for the PS4 version.

Damn my ps4 fan goes full jet on this one :/
Yep, that was something to get used to.

k, cool, gonna buy it tonight.
Maybe what made me feel 'rushed' was me playing it for 45 minutes between breakfast and heading off to work.
that might have been it.

Boy, it makes my PS4 fans go haywire, though, at times.
(and yeah, my PS4 is clean and the thermal paste has been replaced by myself just 2 months ago. )

Played the demo last night and DOOM went from, "I might pick this up someday..." to "this will be my next game when I tire of Overwatch..."

I haven't been that impressed by tech running on a console since Rage... and DOOM actually has a compelling gameplay loop ... (something Rage never had)...

Rip and tear until it's done, indeed...

I heard this a few times from others, strangely my PS4 sounded normal when I played through it. Strange

Also I recommend everyone playing this even just the demo...put some awesome headphones on. For me it made the game even better.

yeah, it's not all that strange. There's louder PS4s (mostly among launch units) and ones that don't spin up as loudly as fast.
The annoying part is people claiming that there simply aren't any PS4's that have a louder fan, and it's all due to user error.
I had mine sent in, it's dust and lint free and i already replaced the thermal paste. - it's still loud, occasionally.

Demo doesn't launch :/ I see the Bethesda logo, then black screen and have no other choice than to shut down my computer.

Anyone else observed a similar problem?

make sure you have the latest drivers. If the game hangs on the lauch screens, you probably have old ones...

Runs fine on my rig. A bit surprised at how stingy ammo is, was pretty much at 'low ammo' the whole demo level. been doing mostly melee kills on the scrub enemies too.

Is there a setting where the camera returns back to the previous location after a melee kill? some of the animations leave me staring at the ground like a fool and its pretty annoyin

Not disputing your point, but my PS4 only goes into full jet-engine mode when both the drive is spinning fast and the fans are at speed, kinda get the feeling its some sort of acoustic effect that makes the 2 together insanely loud.

i5 6500 and gtx 950 the game defaulted most stuff to high and a few ultra, game would bounce between 40 and 60 but damn did it look nice.

I lowered everything to medium and the game holds 60 most of the time, still looks nice and the motion blur really helps with the fast movement keeping everything smooth feeling, I like it. I can probably turn a few effects up and down to find the sweet spot but in geneal it ran really well and looked good.

There's a ton of shotgun ammo everywhere, you just need to go out of your way and look for it, like classic doom.

Huh shocked that my 660ti held most things at High and a pretty solid 60fps. Although I had to turn the AA almost off lol. The game defaulted it to one of the highest options and it was killing my FPS.

#andherewegoagain ...

i don't have a disc in my PS4 unless i'm watching a bluray.

Also, i'm not playing games while still installing. Also i'm running wired (in case anyone's gonna come up with some weird 'the wifi chip is heating up' or some shit)

Some PS4s are simply really loud during demanding games, regardless of what you do to try and fix it. And, to repeat myself, this is a console that had been sent back to Sony for that very reason, already.

let's not derail this any further, though ;)
