I don't know man, panny plasmas are still ridiculously good for 1080p sources. Still love my 2009 model.
yesIs 120hz worth it?
Yeah, I had some random connectivity issues with deep color enabled. Didn't get a signal unless I turned the TV off and on again.
I've seemingly managed to fix it by going in the Nvidia CP -> Set up Digital Audio and turning off audio pass through on HDMI. Of course you'll need to have your receiver hooked up directly to the PC otherwise then you won't get audio this way.
Been reading reviews on the Vizio P-series. Two reviews in particular pointed out that while the tv accepts a 4:4:4 signal @4K the tv only displays 4:2:2. This makes a difference to me at least when used for PC gaming.
I'm assuming this is a non-issue for the consoles.
On the Sony 930D I see that it accepts a 120hz 1080 signal but has artifacts. For anyone with this tv; How noticeable are the artifacts?
I once used a TV for gaming. Felt like I needed sunglasses to use it for certain games. (If they had text for example.) How do the LG OLEDs fare with games that have text that you need to read. (World of Warcraft for example.) my concern is with the brightness required for HDR.
No,no...
You can fix the problem on the 2016 lg oled's by turning off "digital audio" in nvidia control panel on your pc.
Lol I should read more of your response, you already know about this fix
my 940c has no artifacts at all doing 1080p/4:4:4 @120hz, unless you are talking about scaling artifacts, which I find minimal and completely invisible at my sitting distance.
How far do you sit from the tv? I'm looking at the 930D which is the 2016 version I believe.
Debating between the 930D and the KS9000. Basically it comes down to being able to take a 1080 4:4:4 120 input (930D) vs a better all around tv but no 1080 4:4:4 120hz.
Buy the KS8000 and save some money. Image quality should be better all around than the 930D, and very very close to KS9000. Input lag is also way lower than the 930D (21ms vs 52 on the Sony).
Does anyone here have a LG 65EG9600? I saw it in store and wow I loved it. I was about to buy it, until I learned that LG requires a special wall mount.
I'm looking to mount the TV in a corner and the mount they sell is only a flush wall mount. Any idea how to mount it in a corner with the special mounting holes? Can't find anything online.
Edit: shit... Samsung 65KS9000 for $2050 before tax. About $600 less than the Oled. Talk me out of it GAF.
Where y find ks9000 for 2000?
I had a sony 850d and exchanged it for ks8000. The artifacts at 120hz you are talking about on Sony tvs are very noticeable. They are little horizontal white lines about a centimeter long that are constantly flickering accross the screen, kind of like a snow effect. I found I could set a custon resolution in Nvidia control to output around 90hz, this is where the artifacts become unnoticeable. In the end, the samsung picture quality is a huge step up and I don't mind the lack of 120 hz, the low input lag of the samsung makes up for it to me, if you need 120hz, the only option is a vizio p65 imo, I like the ks8000 fine for pc gaming at 1080 and 4k.This is what I'm going to end up with probably. I have an itch for 4K but until I get my own place I want to wait. (I'm eying those OLED TVs.) I ordered an hdmi 2.0 cable from Amazon. I'd love to play some games on it and content from my PC.

If anyone is getting a Vizio TV (it may work on other tvs, but in the fine print, it says there are some restrictions) at Best Buy soon, I have a coupon here that will give 10% off. Pretty big deal for $1000+ tv. I tried using it for an online purchase of the P55 and it did in fact take $120 off. I'd use it but I have another coupon for 10% off and they don't stack. Plus this one expires on 7/25, while my other is good until some time in September.

Just put that in the promotional code part when you're in check out. It's also good for in store use, but for that you have to print out a page, and if I link you to that it has some of my personal info on it. That said, you can use the code for an online purchase and just do in store pick-up.
What resolution do you play your games at?Been playing on my Vizio P65 for the last 2 weeks.
Games look absolutely insane on it, and my god, that low input lag makes games across every genre much more satisfying.
My dad is looking at getting either the Sony KD-65XD8599 or the LG 65UH770V, but since there's pretty much no reviews for either he's undecided.
Anyone able to offer advice? This won't be for gaming.
Thanks very much! It sounds like the LG is very much the better choice then. They both have IPS panels (which means accurate colors, but poor black levels compared to a VA panel), but the LG supports both HDR and Dolby Vision, so between the two i'd go with that. The OS is better as well (webOS>>>Android TV), and the remote control is the same fantastic magic remote i got with my OLED TV, which is possibly the best one out there.
Not sure if your dad cares about 3D, but neither of these sets support it.

Interesting stuff, particularly about 4:4:4 4K displaying at 4:2:0 4K on the Vizio. Just curious: do you have a link to those reviews?
Sony has been my go-to TV company for a long time; would love to read that article about artifacts on the 930D. I certainly believe you; just wanting to read it for myself - as it sounds like an appropriately in-depth review.
Replaced old Plasma with Sammy KS8500. Happy so far, just going through the usual tweaking the washed out colors phase with every LCD I buy.
Open box model in like new condition at a local store. I'm guessing that's the way to go? I'd love a 75", but can justify spending twice the price lol.
edit: eh I bought it. Made the delivery for the 30th, so I have plenty of time to decide if I want to cancel or find a better deal. $2150 after tax. TV is in pristine condition and not used. Just a ding in the corner of the box lol. Plus I get 5% back from my discover card, so $2050 total or so.
Post settings with a picture of where the TV is? Curious
Give it a good critical look for clouding and light bleed! My buddy manages an electronics shop and they sent back their demo because it had horrible clouding. If uniformity and contrast are important I'd suggest something with FALD - P or M series from Vizio based on price - or a 2015 JS9500 Samsung ( I own one and love it). Good luck
Any tips on what to look for?
That OLED is definitely calling me... I changed my mind on mounting it, so between the KS9000 and the LG65G9600. The Oled is about $700 more. Is it worth it even though it's a year older?
So on my Samsung KS8500, I can suddenly see a HDR+ Viewing mode (wasn't available yesterday for some reason) but selecting it means no Game mode. Guess I'm out of luck if I want HDR + playing at 23ms?
Huh? I can select game mode when watching HDR content on my LG EG920v without problem. Besides what does it have to do with MCD's post? Can't do that on the LG OLEDs either for some reason. It'll be interesting to see how they remedy this in the future.

You can get the C6 for that price, which is better than the EG9600. And yes, 700$ more for OLED are money well spent if you can afford it. Otherwise KS9000 is still a great TV, although i'd save some more money and buy the KS8000 at that point.Any tips on what to look for?

Image quality is still vastly better on 2015 OLEDs than Samsung 2016 LEDs and banding is a potential issue on any large TV.I wouldn't get the 2015 OLEDs over the 2016 Samsung LCDs to be honest. Too much input lag and potential banding/vignetting. Definitely think you're better off paying less for the KS series and then picking up a newer, better OLED in a year or two if you're not prepared to spend on the 2016 OLED premium sets right now.
HDR+ is fake post processing HDR. So no game mode. It was added with an update.

HDR+ is completely seperate from HDR. It's for SDR sources to make them sorta look like HDR. It's post processing so it adds input lag.So it's different from the regular HDR in the TV? Or am I out of luck? Give me hope here Backfoggen lol.

For actual HDR, you'll need a proper HDR source.

Mmm i don't know. The weird thing is that if you don't use motion interpolation the input lag is around 50 in any mode. There's no advantage in using game mode, which is odd and lets you think that maybe they could improve the situation via fw update, but i didn't hear anything about it.I agree, but that input lag on the 2015s is spotty. Did they ever reduce the latency via firmware updates or are they still in the 50 range? I would gladly buy a 2015 model but lag is a dealbreaker.
Oh, misread your previous post. I thought you were talking about the 55". You got a good deal on the KS9000, enjoy it.Please enlighten me on where I could get a 65" C6 for $2800. I will buy it in a heartbeat (you cant).
I got the KS9000 for the price of the 8000 through Amazon Warehouse using the 20% off coupon a couple days ago in Like New Condition.
