XV wishes it has CGI this good in the game :p

Cloud was an asshole when you read the dialogue lol. Only got gloomy for like a small part of the story for obvious reasons
It's bizarre how people have come to see him as a gloomy character throughout the entire game. Even in the VIIR reveal trailer when he says "Not Interested." People in the thread were like "OH MY GOD, EMO."

Lol means nothing if the material it's being used on is shit(talking about vanille, ffxiii is awesome)

Or editing of said scenes. I loved some of the XIII ones...but always feel the race track one could have been edited more smoothly. It didn't flow as well as it could've

FF13 CG is mindblowing.

Its really old at this point ,but still looks great.

I don't know what they did to it to make it look so good.

Even beyond the CGI I don't know what they did to make XIII in game look so good too (okay yeah the narrow level design helped lmao)

Saw a friend playing Chapter 11 on a PC on high settings and my God. The backdrop of Eden n stuff...in parts there it looks like a PS5 game (hyperbole okay but it just looks insanely good)

So far I'm actually fine with every voice in the game. It's the script that's awkward for me. Y'all in every sentence they say (do southerners even say y'all this often?), greasemonkey granddaughter, beat up old clunker...came off awkward to my ears. There were some lines that the party members say that were awkward to me as well. Feels like the translators were thinking that's how we spoke, instead of the translators knowing because they speak it too. I could be way off, but that's how it comes off to me.

I'll be playing in English, though. I want my focus to fully be on the cutscenes.

Yes. I've lived in south Louisiana for over 20 years and there are definitely people who sound a lot like Cindey. Mostly in the white upper class. I spent the first several years I lived here in private schools, and there were a lot of people with that accent and a lot of "y'all"s being thrown around. Pretty much every instance of a plural "you" was replaced with it. When I left private schools for the public system, the accent was a lot more rare.

Here's an example of a popular radio personality from South Carolina. She sounds pretty much exactly like what my private school mates did. Cidney's not really exaggerated much at all. Wouldn't even be surprised if she's just as "fake" as Ignis's British accent and Vanille's Australian accent.

Maybe the music will convince you...

I've played and replayed the game many times over a period of years on PS3.

the production values are amazing, graphics, art style, technical accomplishment, music all included.

but in taking it as a whole, the characters are insipid, the plot is ridiculous and a lot of the decisions made by the group don't make much sense(you spend the whole game saying your not going to follow destiny or become pawns, yet your entire revelation was to do it anyway and get saved by a deus ex machina!?)

The game doesn't open up until the 30 hour mark when all paradigms are unlocked, there's barely anything to do sidequest wise, and Evil robot pope and Orphan are perhaps the most stupidest villains of FF for me, beating even purple 80s rock band member/timetraveler Caius from the sequel, which i thought was worse as a general game.

Wouldn't even be surprised if she's just as "fake" as Ignis's British accent and Vanille's Australian accent.

What's weird is that those VA's are actually british and australian respectively. Did they ask them to be super exaggerated?

I am also from the South and I recently moved to the Midwest and I love Cindy's voice. People REALLY do talk like that so it reminds me of being back home.

The backdrops do look amazing.

Even better than Uncharted 2 & 3 backdrops where blemishes and flaws became apparent in the HD collection.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
Wow

Honestly this gif looks amazing.

When will game graphics look this good ? Its nearly 8 years old already :(

FF13 was amazing from a visual standpoint.

Yup. The story's a mess, but FF13 was a visual treat day 1, and even to this day holds quite well.

FFXV won't get the same luxury

To be fair, the NEO version will fix a lot of the issues of this release technically/visually(hopefully) and PC will go even further.

When the whole game is backdrops, that better be something you put a lot of work into!

I love how people talk about the Neo version when we don't even know if it exists/will exist, if it would improve the graphics greatly and when would it be released.

People have been doing it with the potential PC version since day 1. Not so subtle port begging.

God, yeah. That accent is and was a treat to grow up around honestly.

The complaints about how Cindy talk/sound just kinda drives home the point that the narrative and writing are gonna be super subjective--people are gonna say, "Oh this sounds unnatural!" When in some cases it's...well, wholly natural. You just aren't used to that way of talking.

Y'all crazy.

lol, yeah. So it seems people from the South think she sounds good, and people not from the South think she's doing a bad fake Southern accent. It really reminds me of all the people not from Australia complaining about Vanille's horrible fake Aussie accent, when it turned out to be genuine.

I thought she was one one the best voices in Duscae. I was very pleasantly surprised by the acting. She came off as purposefully teasing and skillfully deflecting the party's innuendos.

Her design's still super awkward though.

I've needed to come to terms with the fact that FF games just aren't made for me anymore.

I adore VI and IV, warts and all. VII is okay, but it's where the wheels started to fall off for me. And after attempting to play VIII, I bailed on the series until XIII. I played through that when I was home sick for a few days with the flu, and I preferred the flu.

I'm not saying they're bad games or that the characters are shit, or anything. They just do nothing for me personally anymore. I need to remind myself of this every time I see some of the cooler looking parts of a new FF game, or contract hype fever in OT threads.

lmao.

I don't really like VIII as well, at least we share that.

I like Hope, Lightning, Fang (they were my main team too lol)

Snow is hot I'll give him that, but the personality is grating.

I went with that team as well. Sazh and Vanille have really shitty animations, so I avoided using them, even though I liked the characters.

Neo version is happening, and with November release at Neo's launch, but what kind of improvements are made will be seen though.

I'd have to agree here. Although, the fact they showed 90% of their gameplay up to the Gamescom video as footage from a PC build, something's gotta give there.

Personally, I'm excited for where the game is headed for this delay. I don't want another delay, because it's hard enough already knowing my 4 week wait is now a 12 week wait. But, the game already looks good
on PS4
as is so the extra 60 days to polish is, in the end, welcomed by me.
hurry up and Finish Square WTF :(

I know there are some technical issues, but the game still looks pretty good. I mean, it is the only and I mean the only game using the Luminous Studio engine. Maybe Square Enix is focusing mainly on optimization for the next 2 months and needs that time with their exotic engine. The engine has some strengths that are readily apparent in the lighting and weather effects of the Platinum Demo and that's readily apparent.

if no great changes are made between now and release I'll be holding off for a Neo/PC version.

Neo will not get a separate version, support for its power would either be in a patch or on the disc. The leaks made that clear.

They're struggling to get that engine to work properly with modern consoles so I imagine UE4 will be what they stick with as a lot of Japanese devs will have a lot of experience with that engine and it seems to be working well with KH3, DQXI, and FF7:R.
It's a shame that they spent so much time and money trying to make proprietary engines and they were both kind of sub par. With their reputation for high end visuals and how much money they spend on graphics you'd think they could get a competent engine up and running. The Fox Engine seems like it would've been pretty good for SE since it's capable of handling open world games at 1080p 60fps and it has some really nice looking cutscenes.

Will SE bother to do a competent patch is the question.

Tabata's been saying for a long time how he wants to create the Final Fantasy with best tech, visuals, and PC version would not be a simple port etc. so I would be surprised if they didn't improve it as much as they can when they got more horsepower to drive Luminous.

I have not been following the development of XV closely at all. I'm of course aware of how long it's been in limbo and have been watching the occasional trailer, but I haven't been reading every preview or watching everything they've shown off. I also haven't watched the 50min video, so I apologise for anything below that is already common knowledge.

I'm in the same boat, so I have some questions...

I've just recently been playing FF VI and VII for the first time so to me Cindy is just the worst thing ever. Not saying Final Fantasy has ever been the pinnacle of progressive ideals but Jesus... Ridiculous design.

Progressive or not I can say as someone who lives in the midwest I've totally seen women dress similar to Cindy in the spring and summer times. Cindy's outfit is kind of the more extreme version but I do see that look. I'm with you in that it looks ridiculous but there are real world examples of Cindy's look, so at the very least they're not completely pulling it out of their ass.

Cor only joins the party for like 5 minutes max, between two Royal Tombs. Then he rocks up for a bit when you take on an imperial checkpoint on the way to Duscae.

So has it ever been confirmed if stuff from Episode Duscae and the Platinum demo are in the main game? Also, with stuff like the anime included do we have an idea as to what the FFXV timeline looks like right now?

The visuals are definitely a problem for me however, if no great changes are made between now and release I'll be holding off for a Neo/PC version.

Based on what I have heard about this game it sounds like you'll be waiting awhile for a PC release. Also, based on all the rumors about Neo it sounds like this game will eventually just get a patch that optimizes it for PS4 Neo.

Tabata has said a lot things. If that were truly his intentions as director, the game would've never seen this much compromise.

Also, a proper PC port would been on the horizon, but that's nowhere near the case.

We'll see soon enough, but lack of ambition is not the problem for sure. We know the game can look good with enough performance driving it.

PC version coming later is just normal SE business.

I really love Cindy's accent. That and Prompto's VA are pretty much the only things stopping me from using the jp dub.

I agree, Prompto is best boy.

Yeah, i admit that i hated him for years, but he's growing on me a lot, even the VA.
