Report: NX Handheld Dimensions, Layout Info, Lack of Region Lock

Nintendo does make their NDAs that strong. I worked for a company that did 3DS development before it was revealed. The NDA had super severe restrictions, like even the executives of the company could not be told anything about the device, all development could only be done in a windowless room that was locked at all times, including when developers were in it, they could have no internet access in that room, etc.

Top of the line security there, holy shit. Ain't nothing getting through that.

I pray to god we get a reveal date this week, because I dunno how much longer I can stand all these frantic attempts at tea leaf reading.

Will the NX be revealed before TGS?

A R&D department of a big publisher I worked for was more less the same (different network, specific locks/security, etc). It's really not unusual when you're working with sensitive information.

Seeing how Nintendo announced the 3DS direct last week
This week was Apple event
Then probably next week they will finally announce

A Wii U + Indie + more Pokemon stuff Direct
Just for the laughs and giggles

That's...impressive. Wow, I have nothing to say about this.

I've heard things like that before. The post I was responding to was wondering why all companies don't make their NDAs super restrictive like Nintendo does if they prevent leaks so well, and I was saying that requiring the NDAs to be this crazy can dissuade people from signing it. Perhaps this could be part of Nintendo's issues with third parties.

So once again one of these threads have devolved in offtopic fanwankery and vague date speculation, I see.

It'll come when it'll come. Cool your jets.

I can't remember who told me or when but I believe the punishment for breaking dev kit NDA for Nintendo is:

1) $50k USD fine
2) Seizure of all dev kits
3) All work done on dev kits must be destroyed

And this is why third-party support will never improve for Nintendo. If they treat third-parties like they can't be trusted, why would anyone want anything to do with them? Nintendo desperately needs either a western or western-minded person at the helm of it all. Your dreams of a powerful Nintendo console are irrelevant otherwise.

Then again, this info may have come from one of your "sources" anyway, making everything I just said irrelevant. Yeah, nevermind. Forget that this post ever existed.

It's not from a source. It was public info from awhile ago. Can't remember if I read it on gaf or Reddit or Twitter.

I'm laughing because I saw that there is a Nintendo rep having an actual vacation and posting pics of it. (No, it's not NX related and it's not in Japan or US.)

It's #humor nor rumor

It's so hard to fake a tweet, I think we should give more credits to some of these leaks. (Here's one specially to gaffers):

And if you think it's fake here's a big print screen.

I really hope you all understood that this was a silly joke.

Not really sure how what you quoted and what you said, have anything to do with one another. Harsh NDAs aren't a sign of mistrust, and if said developers knew they wouldn't leak anything, why would it matter?

To bring something useful back into the thread(although it may have already been posted):

Miyamoto via IGN said:
“The goal is to be able to bring you’re my Nintendo friend list in. So if you have Miitomo you can bring your Miitomo friends over,” he said.

Considering NX is meant to use MyNintendo I imagine this means friends list will be shared between the mobile games and NX. Wonder what implications this could have.

Well, if the windowless room thing is true and you combine it with that...

Apple does the exact same thing if not MORE stringent when they're developing their new hardware. Only a specific team is allowed to even know of its existence, they're in locked rooms, they have blinders that cover their desks so other workers can't see what they're doing even on the same team, nothing can enter or leave the room, they put the guts of new products in the shells of old products for testing outside, etc.

I am considering that might be the "compatibility" that was rumored. Among other things, I'd like to see My Nintendo points earned in mobile games be able to be used for NX games, and vice-versa. Edit: This is of course sort of a given.

Double edit: I'd also like to see game-specific incentives to buy NX games in the mobile games and direct content crossover.

For one thing it's likely a lot easier to add friends if you can transfer a list via mobile. Also I think discussions about the NDAs are fairly useful in regards to this thread and the NX overall.

Well, it follows logically. Nintendo consoles don't leak nearly as much as Sony or Microsoft consoles, and one can wonder why that is. Well, if Nintendo NDAs comparatively are very restrictive (windowless rooms) or punitive (must erase all work) that could help suppress leaks, but it also would naturally make some people or companies more hesitant to actually sign these NDAs, and if they don't sign the NDAs they don't get devkits (presumably).

Well Animal Crossing has been confirmed to have some form of ingame connectivity.

Miitomo friends also tie into Twitter and Facebook which might help a lot.

Or maybe the resolution of Netflix streams depends on the strength of your connection, and you and your family members were staring at 1080p or lower on a 4K screen.

Or maybe you're making some of this up, because there are dozens of side-by-side comparisons between 4K and 1080p visuals and the difference isn't minute - even to untrained eye.

It's the difference between 800x600 and 1920x1080. Literally a mid-range monitor from 1999 and the soon to expire standard bearer for HDTV.

I also have a 55" 4KTV and watched the fireplace and other 4K content over the in built Netflix software (because it won't play back at 4K on Xbox or appletv) and while it was clearly more... Clear, the details are ones you lose once you aren't standing 10" from the screen. When I remember to wear my glasses though, it's really great.
