When you don't sell that much a % increase is much larger

10->100
1000->1300

The Xbox One had a 71 per cent share of the hardware market for the week ending September 24th

Fifa bundle putting in work for MS. It will probably flip the other way for this week though with all the £150 PS4 deals in the last 24 hours.

This weekend's old model PS4 fire sale will almost certainly stamp that out.
Which is crazy because for a lot of people the Slim doesn't represent a better deal hence the uptake in sales.

Fifa only launched today though. So it wouldn't be that.

Probably worth noting that the Xbox One S was a pretty reasonable discount compared to the original model, whereas the PS4 slim is more expensive than the original model.

I'd simply suggest that the OG PS4 is responsible for that. Here's the current standing on Amazon UK:

#06 OG PS4
#07 OG PS4
#14 XB1 slim
#19 OG PS4
#24 OG PS4
#35 PS4 Slim
#44 PS4 pro
#71 XB1 slim
#90 PS4 slim

7 PS4 consoles in the top 100
2 XB1 consoles in the top 100

There are have been deals for the OG PS4 everywhere.

Oh man, if this is true for the rest of Europe Xbox One might overtake Wii U in Germany one day. Joke aside, what numbers are we talking about?

That was today/last night.

The article is talking about last week.

But the 22% launch increase are not necessarily due to the Slim. I mean it's a side effect of the PS4 OG dropping in price, but not directly.

If one has a 989% increase and the other a 22% and it's a 71:29 split in favor of the one with 989% increase, then they most likely based on my math abilities did not start at the same number.

it was 21.5% XB 78.5% PS in a period before

I'm bad at math. Is it possible to figure anything else out with these numbers?

E.g. 900% increase resulted in 71% of the market share. What was the previous PS4/XB1 markets are?

I'd be interested in seeing what the prior baseline was in the UK given that it's a market of limited HW numbers.

Good to see Microsoft gaining ground again. I really thought it might have been a complete stomp like the PS2 era but they've become very competitive, good for consumers.

You're plenty soft if you think that's a meltdown.

A whole lot of percentages but is there anything resembling hard numbers here? Alex, you fishing for a job with uncle phil?

Well this week they are gaining ground. :p

It's been like it for ages. The problem with this (and I pretty much expected it) is it's taking the percentage of ONE XB1 SKU and comparing it to THREE PS4 SKUs in which the percentages are shared. PS4 as a 'whole' is selling much better. People are just opting for the cheaper option. Just like on Amazon US, once the OG stock has gone you'll see the PS4 slim rise.

halo bundle is really great . 5 halo games free.

That isn't available in the uk.
It basically that high for one reason and one reason only and that is its a console woth fifa, overwatch and horizon for £11 less then the console on its own. Its retailer bundles with £25 off store codes, not ms being competitive.

Tesco and Amazon been fighting for customers business for a week now.

XboxOne (all SKUs) sales are up 989% due to the Xbox One S (one SKU) launch.

It's not comparing individual SKUs.

I think you're confusing winning a single battle with winning the war.

That's exactly what I'm referring to mate. MS are getting smashed across Europe and in Japan. But the battles in the UK and US are still well worth fighting, though I doubt they will probably ever get on top.

This generation is sewn up in terms of sales. Sony have won, but MS can still be successful.

Fantastic news, really is a great revision which I hope sets a new standard for other manufacturers. Not just smaller, but with new features.

Xbone sales are up 989% due to the Xbone S launch.

It's not comparing individual SKUs.

I'm not saying the XB1 won't 'win' (if that's people's thing), I'm just saying that the PS4 numbers are skewed here because of the OG PS4 and the PS4pro. Overall though, the PS4 is gaining ground, unless we're going to judge the whole generation of one weeks data.

Well it's just one week, but this week the Xbox One (combined SKUs) outsold the PS4 (combined SKUs) in the United Kingdom.

Next week it might be different again, as it was last week.

Overall though, the PS4 is gaining ground, unless we're going to judge the whole generation of one weeks data.
You only gain ground if you're behind I think. As far as I know the install base is that the PS4 is ahead.

Not really surprised by this. With a 4K UHD player, HDR and better form factor, it has a tangible reason for OG Bone owners to upgrade. Plus there 's a year to Scorpio and it's relatively cheap for newbies, even PS4 owners looking to dive in.

With the PS4 slim, the differential between it and the OGPS4 is less. The OG gets HDR anyway, it's not really an improvement aesthetically (the OG looks great) and the pro is imminent. Those who want power will wait for Pro. Most of those who don't will keep their OG. Add to that a load of PS4 owners are about to sink money into PSVR and there's a dent in the short term. They'll pick up.

Again. Console warrior bullshit.

Do preorders count? No. those are considered as part of the day 1 figures so what's the point of touting those now?

2) Xbox had a good week. Get over that. Sony are having a good week now. We can celebrate them next week.

3) Your skufacts aren't going to change that MS have indeed made some gains this week.

Picked up an XB1S FIFA17 bundle last week solely because of Forza Horizon 3 (Ultimate Edition). No regrets so far. Sleek looking console and a fantastic game.

It's the sales of all PS4's. PS4 sales have risen 22% with the Slim release.

If it was just the slim, then the previous period would of been 0. 22% increase of 0 is 0.

Just pointing it out, that's all. It was this bit I was addressing more than anything:
When the launch weeks for PS4 Slim and the 500GB/1TB Xbox One S are compared, Microsoft’s were stronger to the tune of 361 per cent.

The XB1s had a great week. What's your point? I'm just pointing out how the percentages will be skewed, you're the one who seems obsessed with 'console warrior bullshit'.

Not that strange when you consider people have been holding out on buying an Xbox one for the release of the S. The S is cheaper, more capable and offers higher capacity. You must have been willing to give that all up, just to play a (few) week(s) earlier.

PS4 meanwhile is in the same position. Yes, the slim is released, but I bet ya a lot of people are holding out for the pro. The slim is also more expensive and less capable than an og PS4, so I'm not suprised at the reserved sales for that thing.

Yep. They are both genuine system sellers. FH3 is getting crazily good word of mouth and gears is the behemoth it's always been.

Interesting perspective. Most in the UK sales threads (including myself) are pegging Gears 4 to underperform, some significantly.

Let's see which one occurs and hope that you're right, for Coalition and MS.

If it scores as well as FH3 I'm expecting huge numbers
