Once it's all set up, is it a viable option to unplug and plug in the headset as and when it is required, or should it be plugged in all the time? I'm thinking storage...

There is an extension box (not the bigger splitter box) between you and the console in which you plug the headset cable. You can unplug it from that and store the headset more easily. Plugging it back in is no problem.

Thanks for the heads up on the audio. I really thought surround sound would be better.

Last question. I've used Gear VR and love it. I know some complained about resolution or blurriness, how would you compare it to the PSVR? Does it look better than the Gear VR?

Ahhh I can get my preorder right now... It still sours me a bit that I also have to buy the camera too, but I have the money and if I don't like it anymore I could just sell it then hmm.

Thanks for the heads up on the audio. If really thought surround sound would be better.

Yes it's also way different :)

Good to see a little bit of praise for the Moves, instead of just trashing them like some have. Article from Eurogamer said:

We've had a faulty unit, so you might want to wait for the hardware to prove itself, but once it has, the lower definition compared to Oculus and Vive doesn't matter as much as you might expect, the device itself is very comfortable to wear, and the Move controllers are far more precise than I remember them being.

I've never had any major problems with the Moves to be honest and I think people forget that they did review pretty well when they first came out, it was the software and PS3 camera that was poor more than anything. Compared to the Vive controllers they clearly aren't as good of course but they still do a fairly good job for PSVR when calibrated correctly.

The only problem I see is with the 360 tracking, as the camera can't see the Moves if you turn around, but if it sells well, maybe Sony will update the controllers in the future, like Vive have just announced updated controllers.

My PSVR been delivered now, so looking forward to getting home from work later, to get it all set up.

It looks and feels waaaaaay better. And I liked Gear VR.

Got my Headset delivered to work today. The box was a Little damaged so I was fearing the worst, just checked everything in my lunch break and everything seems fine. Just the box is a Little messed up on the back - could be worse, but still annoying since it's a very sleek box.

4 more hours before I can go home, this will be the longest 4 hours ever!!!

Ugh, Sony's Nordic distributors are being stupidly greedy. The starter pack is not available in Finland at all, you have to get all the stuff (Move double pack, Camera, PS VR, PS VR Worlds) separately. And I'm probably not going to get Worlds for €40 if it's really just a ripoff demo disc.

I'm getting the new camera this weekend. I think I'll wait for a small discount (retailers tend to do it pretty quickly) until I get the headset itself, the extortion is real in Finland.

Hmm this is a bit worrisome. Did you also try calibrating it using the advanced settings that people mentioned in this thread?

I did indeed. I will say that it doesn't make me feel sick or nauseous, though your mileage may vary. It's more of an annoyance.

I just got through about an hour and a half of Batman Arkham VR and it was wonderful. More stuff like that please. Overall I'm quite pleased with the headset despite the tracking issues. They break immersion more than they actually make me sick.

But what you're experiencing is a manufacturing defect! If your tracking is fucked, that's what the warranty is for :)

Did you follow the troubleshooting guide for tracking issues?

Yup, I did. I may indeed return the headset, but I want to wait a bit to see what news comes forth regarding these tracking issues now that the headset is in the wild.

I picked mine up. I played wih a Rift earlier on in the week and going from that to this the resolution is definitely comparable. I don't remember the Rift experience to be much different at all to what I'm seeing now. I would say that the side boundaries are more noticeable to me in this but screen door is not at all any bigger of an issue in this than it is in a Rift.

I'm fogging up way more in this at the moment though; I don't have long enough right now to play through it so we'll see if I can fix that this evening.

So what games are recommended to get as showcase? I plan on getting one headset for my game lounge. I prefer something that can be enjoyed too just by spectating someone who is playing.

My list consist of the following:

Until Dawn Rush of Blood
VR World

Any reviews for Loading Human: Chapter 1 yet? I can't seem to find anywhere online. I've got a hankering for some story focused VR. I'm picking up The Assembly, but also want something with hand presence.

Playroom VR for its social screen multiplayer.

Does the PSVR work will with a 5.1 surround sound home theater setup?

Don't do that. It's like taking your ears off and hearing shit from the other side of a room. You can try it but I'm pretty sure you'll regret it in certain, more immersive experiences.

I have this exact same feeling...the feeling that I have a screen strapped to my face in front of my eyes rather than that I'm in a world. I think the clarity just isn't quite there yet to convince me.

Usually it takes one particularly good experience to change this. I felt the same at first with the Vive then I played Vanishing Realms after a few days and... Shit was crazy.

Also try repositioning the HMD on your head. Pull it down a little. Make it tighter. Sometimes it being slightly out of line can mess up your immersion. (This may work differently with the PSVR.)

I don't see any praise for The Playroom VR ? It's the first thing I tried with Rez and I loved it. The sense of presence in your little bedroom at the beginning is insane. That moment when I looked behind me and see all the little guys watching back at me... I loved it, it completely reassured me on the value of the headset.

I don't know about others, but I'm having a great time at the moment. Similar to when I got my PS1 :)

lol I feel like no one has cared about trying War Thunder yet. I am still excited to try that out but I have no idea how well it plays in VR or even on PS4.

I'm having some trouble with my headset. No matter what I do, my left eye just remains a bit blurry, unless I look to the right side. The right eye is fine, but I sometimes can see something ring shaped at the corner of it. I'm also using my glasses, can't see shit otherwise. My brother will have a look later.

On a sidenote: this is so fucking awesome.

Its amazing. OK the resolution isn't brilliant, but it's just a new way to game and I love it. It's a real wow moment for me.

Hope i can afford one sometime next year.
Saving up for NX launch and car licence now so this has to wait.

Looks really promising though this is my dream form of gaming. Sure it's in a beginning fase sort of but when this gets more advanced it wil be so good.

Great that the reviews are nice.

Ordered a bundle I'm Amazon this morning since I was on the fence for a while. They are still up but I imagine after today they won't be. Can't wait for Rez and Rigs.

It just occurred to me a potential problem with the rocking in and out GB and a few of you have, does the camera auto focus? If so, it may be focusing in and out ad nauseum which may be an issue if their is any smudge or something else on the lens. I've had 2 Logitech 920s stuck in auto zoom from dust UNDER the clear lens cover - both brand new and the first was a fast exchange on Amazon a while back. Probably caught from the factory. I fixed my second 920 myself but I wouldn't advise it with the PS camera.

Just a thought. I should have mine on Saturday so I will see if I have the same issue but fingers crossed!

Has anyone been able to play the Hustle Kings demo? When I click on it, all I see is the "Buy" option.

On a side note, cool to see that the VR Worlds demo includes more than just Ocean Descent.

I'm the same way.

I was playing the platforming game in VR and I looked around me and saw the tiny little robots and I was blown away. I haven't been this blown away since the PS1 to be honest. I still can't believe how incredible PSVR is.

Rez is incredible in VR.

Anyone tried the Vrideo app on the PS Store? It's free and it's got cool 3D videos and 360 videos. I liked the Apollo experience vids on it.

Edit: Been playing more than 6 hours straight, no dizziness or nausea. I've played RIGS, Driveclub, Eve, etc. and all the nausea inducing games according to reviewers. I had to turn off the PSVR because I need sleep, I gotta wake up in 5 hours lol.

Been my impression with all the vr I've tried too. Psvr included. Feels like sitting too close to the tv.

I grinned like a small child when I turned around and saw the bots behind me, considering I had no idea they were there. And when a trophy popped for it I couldn't help but giggle.

Just over an hour until the mall opens and I can pick up my preorder. Already ate breakfast at a diner... Now what do I do?

Gah... The future is almost here.

This is one area where mileage may vary. Everyone has different depth perception and you might not know yours may be poorer than you think. You can function 100% fine in the real world but some folks just don't perceive depth the same way. Lots of contributing factors besides IPD and focus.

When I tried Eve for the first time, looking out of the cockpit I literally was able to place the gun turrets distance. They felt like they existed outside of the cockpit and I would easily be able to guess their distance from the cockpit. They weren't close enough to grab, but I could immediately place them as being objects outside the craft.

Flying around I was easily able to place my position when coming close to larger transports, buzzing the side of ships, etc. It was very convincing.

Again, mileage may vary and will probably vary from game to game, as well. VR won't be the same experience for everyone, sadly.

Which games require you to stand? Job simulator is the only one I've played so far and it's janky as fuck. Everything else is peaches

Warnen

Don't pass gaas, it is your Destiny!
I'm so weak, got bundle off amazon. Also bought a ton of games...

100ft Robot Golf
Battlezone
Rigs
Thumper
Reza
Batman
Job Sim
Headmaster
Superhypercube
Until dawn

No will power at all

I really liked Battlezone more than I thought I would, feels really really smooth.

Batman. Holy crap. I think that one gave me the most immersive experience. Amazing.

Having a blast going through all the demos too. Legit scares during Until Dawn Rush of Blood. Don't think I'll be buying horror games for VR :)

I just walked into Walmart and bought one. I was shocked. Dude said they had 2 left. 7 to start with. Can you play batman with a dual shock?

In a year, if this thing really takes off, I can see Sony releasing a 2nd behind-you camera and even some new controllers... for a proper room-scale experience.
