Also I can't believe that they got Kojima there for half an hour and they don't ask a simple question whether it's PS4 exclusive.

The fact that they don't highlight the exclusivity really smells like a timed exclusive to me

Why would they ask that question with PlayStation guys on stage

Sony own the IP
Sony own the engine.

The only "proof" of a PC version was some moderator on the PlayStation EU forums saying it might come to PC after the Kojima x Sony announcement last year.

More than that, he still is the coms manager for Sony EU. He posted the investor brief and then was told to take it down once it was given. It's a bit more valid than a "forum mod".

However, things most certainly can change. Although considering what Kojima said after making the deal to partner with Sony, it seems quite clear he doesn't want to be owned by any party again.

That does add to the point though of these rights being contingent on whatever obligations they choose to make - which people can only speculate on. Edit - or as above lol

Are there any video links to the PSX Kojima interview?

Just go to the livestream and track back

Is the IP owned by Sony though? If it is, a PC port is probably a long shot.

Unless Sony publishes on PC again

I don't care if its exclusive or not, I just want this game to be the best it can be. If it's gonna be timed exclusive, I don't care. I can buy a PS4 Pro for whatever peanuts it'll cost by the time this game launches.

Denying PC gamers the game must mean Sony went really in on the development side.

Very nice to hear in the stream the dual-meaning of Decima/Dejima:

In Roman mythology, Decima was one of the Parcae, or the Fates. She measured the thread of life with her rod. She was also revered as the goddess of childbirth

When Kojima met Guerrilla they introduced themselves and handed him this

sourcen3sq8.png

That's the source code to Decima. He said they gave him that before any deals or contracts were in place.
I'm just imagining one of the Guerrilla employees going into a jewelry store and asking for a box that a ring comes with.
-Ohh, and what ring would you like to go with it?
-No ring needed, I'm gonna use it to hold a sick ass software engine.
-Okay...

I wouldn't be surprised that if this intimate partnership between Kojima Productions and Sony Interactive Entertainment is successful they become one. It's possible Sony buys in to Kojima Productions for the long-term.

I have no doubt after Death Stranding that Kojima, with the resources of Sony, would be able to create his own engine in time. If he really needs to, of course.

It certainly still could come to PC at some point but, to me, it's not really looking like it will. Other games that Sony have allowed to get PC releases haven't had this sort of relationship with the developers and they're also far smaller games that have probably benefited from sales due to there being a PC version.

I don't think this game needs that, I think Sony will believe that keeping it as a PS4 exclusive will actually sell console to some people and any sales losses from not releasing a PC version will simply be swallowed up by the PS4 version.

I wouldn't be surprised to actually see the game get a limited edition Death Stranding console when it launches and as we've seen, there are people who would buy a second console when that happens.

Is that an USB stick inside the box? Did this happen for real or was it a joke (I mean the source code in the box with Guerilla logo patch over it)?

Sony are probably getting plenty of the money from the PC release(all of it?) in addition to the PS4 version with their level of investment.
Frankly, I think Sony is way more interested in using this game to promote the PS4 as THE place to play immersive games than the additional money from sales of the PC version.

Solidifying a deep relationship with Kojima is probably the best strategic move Sony has made in a long time. Having an auteur like that gives them street cred, someone with a proven track record of hits, and the ability to pick his brain for other projects, and for Kojima it gives him financial stability and creative freedom. I guess it remains to be seen whether this becomes a long-term partnership or if it's a pit stop while Kojima grows his company. My feeling is Kojima would rather not worry about running a business and instead focus on his creative projects.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
This is kinda funny, not as funny as Kojimas next game being Exclusive too. But still.
Ya know its gonna happen.

It wouldn't be all that surprising if they work to make all Kojipros games console exclusive and further integrate with Guerrilla games along the way. It would be a big boon for them

This is good news, Killzone Shadowfall is still one of the best looking games. I can only imagine what Kojima will do with this engine.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
So KojiPro is going to be a new Sony WWS team?

It's not the first time Sony poached Konami talent (Toyama).

I'd love to see if Toyama has spoken much with Kojima. If Kojima is making a horror game no one better to talk to than the creator of the Silent Hill and Siren series.

Timed exclusive with delayed PC release. If Sony had secured full exclusivity they'd be shouting ONLY ON PS4 from the rooftops.

Yeah, basically the reason I still don't think it's Sony exclusive. I also don't think them publishing the ps4 version means anything either. For example, No Man's Sky was published by Sony for the PS4 version, and by Hello Games for the PC version. The same is true for Everybody's Gone to the Rapture. That was also another game that was marketed like it was exclusive.

It was announced for PC. So it would actually be exclusive begging, which is a concept that I can't even wrap my head around.

It wasn't officially announced for PC. It was more of a "It's not coming to Xbox. It's up to Kojima if it releases on PC, but for now it's exclusive for PS4". Even if it's hinted at being on PC, it won't release or be talked about until or after PS4's release.

Maybe. Would suck to those interested in a PC version. But I imagine that those voices will be drowned out and told it's no big deal, buy a PS4.

Some people have actually good hardware and want to see what the game would be like on it, and that's OK. I don't think it'll be available on PC, and it'll be worse off for it, but I get where the hopeful are coming from.
