Can't get that final giggle. I thought all I had to do was use the lockpick in the VHS but I'm getting nothing. Now that the secret's out, I'm just going to wait until there's a proper solution.
That coin better unlock something good in the main game. I was hoping for a RE2make trailer.

Finally.got fifth giggle. Saw the ghost twice in the vhs right before.
Yeah. Now we're trying to replicate it.
Grab the valve and break down the door you came through. You can kill it with the axe but it is very difficult.
I'm convinced you need the lock pick in hand for the final giggle. I've replicated the previous steps without the lock pick in hand and no giggle happens. But now I'm not sure when to do the VHS before or after getting the axe.

Are there any tricks to getting the ghost girl in the VHS? I'm sick of having to do this scripted sequence over and over again.

Me, I saw her a few times in the video, followed the directions, and I'm still not getting the giggle.
Yeah, skimming through the thread, it appears to just be a coin you can carry into the main game and a thank you message. That's cool, I guess. I mean, it's not anything crazy awesome like I was hoping for, and I'm not sure if it really justifies all the cryptic stuff you gotta do to get it, but at least there actually WAS something this time around.

Unless you're not supposed to watch the tape through multiple times, seeing the ghost girl does not cause the final giggle to happen.

All I did special in the VHS tape was lift the pot lid, I shall mention. That's all.
Me too. It's now 4:30 AM and despite people actually getting the giggle it feels like we're no closer to figuring out what actually causes it. I'm going to bed.
EDIT: After I lift the pot lid.
Well the coin probably helps you to get a good weapon or item before you normally could, so it can be very helpful for some players in the actual game. Or it could unlock a weapon or item in the game that you normally couldn't get unless you get this extra coin (I mean you need like 11 coins to unlock it, but there's only 10 coins in the actual game) in the demo (though this is unlikely).

Here's what I did exacrly:
Wake up, grab fuse, place fuse in fuse box, get notebook from new area, get dummy finger, get bolt cutters, get vhs, go into vhs, get lockpick and unlock drawer in VHS, finish vhs and grab back door key, grab axe, go to attic, get bullets out of box, get basement key, get bullets under bed, get hand behind TVs, read wall and get first giggle, combine hand and finger, point hand at fallen wardrobe below the clock at foot of stairs, go to dead end hallway in attic to trigger second giggle, go to basement grabbing bullets off shelf on the way, at foot of basement stairs grab lockpick on the left, point hand at head of dead body on gurney, grab valve, run to door and kick it twice to get out, immediately go back in run to back and grab attic key, go to bathroom grab both things of bullets and use valve to get gun, go to painting of bag lady on stairs hold L2 and take a powerful swing at it to get third giffle, go under stairs and point hand at boarded up door, face mirror right outside hold back and press circle to do a quick turn and trigger fourth giggle, point hand at blue and white wires in attic by bed, go to basement and crouch by doll on the floor and look at it. It didn't work for me here so I went through vhs world again, picked up vhs lockpick but didn't use it then went back to doll and it worked. Then point hand at pot on kitchen table and go to bloody hand door in attic.

I didn't interact with the pot directly in the vhs or regular worlds. Just fyi.

Just got the laugh. Completed the VHS tape again, ran down, looked at the doll. So this confirms that you do not need to pick up the lockpick in the VHS, and you do not need to see the ghost. You can also get the laugh after viewing the VHS multiple times. All I did was open the pot. Hopefully this helps.
Seriously. I've done all the steps and the damn doll giggle never happens.

I'd just keep completing the VHS and looking at the doll. Sucks but it seems like that's all you can do.

I'm streaming and doing the entire thing over again after already getting the dirty coin. If anyone is having trouble feel free to watch
Tried to replicate this and no giggle on my end. Seems it may just be random or something and I'm tired of this damn video at this point.
Tried another fresh playthrough to try and help out fellow GAFfers, got the first four giggles, got hit after finding the second murder spot, but was unable to get the fifth giggle. I went into the VHS sequence, spotted the ghost and lifted the lid of the pot too. So, from my playthrough, important things to note:
1. Basically confirms being infected still allows you to trigger the giggles. Unsure about the fifth, I was not injured when I first triggered it.
2. I had 9 bullets when triggering the giggles, went to the doll, nothing happened, I went to the attic to get the last 3, and nothing still happened. So it's possible the bullet number has nothing to do with the giggles.
3. Spotting the ghost and lifting the lid does not seem to guarantee the fifth giggle. There seems to be another unknown factor at play.

I still can't get the fifth giggle to trigger. I've done this VHS tape so many times, I'm about to empty all 12 pistol rounds into my face.

Cool, that means the character's status has no effect on the trigger of the giggles, then. We'll slowly narrow it down one by one.

I took the lit of the pot(none VHS)
Did the VHS where i opened pot,fridge,microwave and opened the axe drawer with the lockpick(VHS)
Went into the secret wall and took the front door key(None VHS)
and the doll laughed(None VHS)
and i got the coin

I know the VHS dialogue now verbatim and hearing even a fraction of it now triggers like a pavlovian response of twinges in me
In the main game if they wanted to fuck with people they could leave you the VHS to find and on playing it, it runs as normal until (for example) they get to the kitchen - at which point they all get jump scare slaughtered suddenly

Godamnit,I will have to replay this a few times lol...got the bad ending...the new door that opens lead nowhere on my first try,found some ammo but the gate is padlocked at the end of the corridor...will be back later here to see how to get most of the stuff lol...last demo I even got the stairs in the mannequin room...it was late last night though when I quickly tried it.
Sorry to ask as it's probably been covered, but want to play this demo without spoilers....
How many endings are there in total? Just had a quick play through and managed to get the True ending (bit of a letdown), but never got the gun so I'm going to have another go and see if I can find any other endings..

Edit: I noticed I had four bloody handprints on the door in the attic when I was looking for the fifth giggle.
Is it when you get the fifth giggle and find the "grave" the door with the bloody handprints opens and you get the coin in there?

To my knowledge there are only two endings, however there is a puzzle to solve. It doesn't affect the ending, though.
It's PT all over again with the giggles.
Technically, there are three so far.
1. Infected ending
2. True ending
3. Bad ending
