Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017 Thread: Joy-Conference

I love people suggesting buying a Wii U to play Zelda as opposed to just buying a Switch. lol. The prices aren't that far enough apart.

Wiat is this legit? You need a separate phone app to set up parties and chat during games?

That read to me more as "you can do this" and not "you have to do it this way".

I generally never understand the NintenDOOOMED hysteria (except Nintendo Land fireworks, let us never forget). I actually liked the presentation. It wasn't super impressive, but it did enough for me to want it day one.

BOTW
Mario Kart
Skyrim
Square RPG looks awesome
Loads more in that sizzle real

Meanwhile, people here are claiming Nintendo is disconnected from its fans and the rest of the world. I guess I'm also disconnected from the majority of GAF?

"We've learned everything from the Wii U reveal," they said. Right. *Rolls Eyes*

Come the fuck on, Nintendo. Do you really want to continue to give Microsoft & Sony all of the glory? Seriously?

there is no reason to buy this till fall unless you are a huge zelda fanboy. like what am I looking at. I haven't been this let down by Nintendo in a while.

Zelda looks amazing, GOTY quality, but i'm not sure i'm going to throw $300 down in a crowded spring of games for just the one title.

Will probably hold off till black friday, and hope for a bundle or something.

I'm not sold. I have a Wii U and will definitely pick up Zelda, but I didn't see anything substantially better graphically than the system I have. Mario Odyssey looks interesting, but $300 is PS4 territory and it's hard to justify that money on Switch for just a game or two.

Agreed - at this point only thing that would make me consider it would be something like a $250 holiday bundle with mario

I've been saying for days that people should temper their expectations. People always hype themselves up with a bunch of pie-in-the-sky nonsense and it always comes back to bite them.

For me the presentation was stilted and awkward, as Nintendo stage shows often are (I don't know why they wouldn't just do this Direct-style), and the translators seemed weirdly disinterested (especially that guy who was translating Suda 51). And I was hoping they'd reveal the whole launch lineup. But the system still looks great to me, and I was pleasantly surprised by the sizzle reel of third party games they showed.

No bald cap? Lies!
NA and EU might still get a pack in game. Wii did not come with Wii Sports in Japan, but it did in the west. It could be the case here as well. It's not definite but it is certainly possible given this was a Japanese presentation primarily.

This shit is DOA, fam... That tech is asscheeks. Everything is chugging, choppy and that's not gonna cut it for 300 bucks. Not when you can buy a cheap PS4 that outdoes that shit.

You're right, I guess I'll buy a PS4 to play all my Nintendo games, fam...

Already with that brutal response:

Zelda, Xenoblade 2, Skyrim, Octo Traveler and Mario.

Great games, pre order ASAP.

Expected more about Capcom and Fromsoftware.

I can't believe I stayed up for that. Holy hell. I have more reservations about the Switch than I did the for Wii U announcement. Speaking of which, I think I'm going to make Zelda the Wii U's last hurrah. I know I'll get a Switch eventually; it's Nintendo after all. But the Switch launch window is looking dismal.

I don't think they have done the job to convince consumers who aren't already regular Nintendo customers to buy this thing. It's an eerily similar situation to the Wii U IMO.

That being said, I will buy one day one so I can play Zelda. I just can not help myself when it comes to playing Zelda.

Let's be real. We'll all be playing Zelda at launch anyway.

Yeah man

Welp Japan is boned.

I'm shocked by how bad JP third party support is.

Can't see Switch doing well.

I'm so sad. ;_;

Still getting one for some of the game but jesus Nintendo!

This presentation was a complete failure. Everyone expected Zelda at launch already and the $300 price tag is higher than expected. Mario announced for this holiday, which means it'll probably actually be holiday 2018 ('cause it's Nintendo). No other worthwhile games at launch. Everything else seems to suggest they're trying to recreate the Wii again, which won't work.

That said, I'm still going to buy it to play Zelda at launch. I'm a Zelda whore. Penetrate me with a Wind Waker in my mouth and an Ocarina in my butt.

I want to say I'm disappointed, but I shouldn't have gotten excited for Metroid in the first place. The games they showed looked fine. I predicted $299. I don't like it, but we'll see if it comes down.

I don't see myself buying it for a long while.

They didn't communicate one thing clearly:

These are all new games and big 3rd Party games. Please look for our launch lineup and additional information on our website.

There seems to be plenty of stuff. Mario Kart 8 deluxe looks fantastic. They didn't show it off though. I guess we'll have much more information, once we dig through the site and hopefully more launch games as well...

New Mario? (My first favorite series of all time)
New Xenoblade (My favorite new series)
New Zelda (My all-time favorite series)

And awesome stuff for my family to enjoy, too???

DAY

EFFING

ONE.

(screw you jaded contrarian snobs)

Mario and Zelda looked god-tier. That's all I really needed to see.

And the Switch launch won't overlap with my late-March business trip. That's all I really needed to hear.
