NPD Sales Results For December 2016 (and the year's best selling games)

So, not sure why media hasn't jumped on the top 10 lists we provided. Not sure if tabs were a challenge or something. In any case, I'll put these here.

Wow really nice to see TLG feature on individual PS4 format at #9.
Really amazing game that deserves the sales.

I've only perused the thread but I saw an estimate of 300k sales which I think is really good for a niche game like this.

It's defintely outsold TP HD by virtue of legs.
Anyone want to leak it's LTD....? 300-500k?

I've got the estimates for the first 3 months of Pokken:
Mar: ~251k
Apr: <<40k (much lower than)
May: <35k (highest selling Nintendo game this month)

and the first 2 months for LoZ:TP HD:
Mar: ~308k
Apr: <<125k (much lower than)
May: ?? (lower than Pokken)

Wth is up with The Division? What is wrong with people?

Every other game on this list I can see a potential audience for. Not that one.

So let me get this straight...

GTA V is a game that originally released in September of 2013. And it's on a top 10 sales chart for the year... 3 years later.

Those have got to be the best legs in recent gaming history. A truly impressive feat.

With more accurate info.

Final Fantasy XIII: 1,322,100
PS3: 828,200 (63%)
360: 493,900 (37%)

Final Fantasy XV: ~1,573,000
PS4: ~1,123,000(~71%)
XB1: ~450,000 (~29%)

PS3: 12,075,600
360: 19,719,400

PS4: ~17,500,000
XB1: ~15,850,000

Tie Ratio

PS3: 0.0686
360: 0.025

PS4: 0.0642
XB1: 0.0284

Basically the same % of people buying on each platform compared to last gen. Xbox One being behind in install base hinders its overall share, but more people bought FFXV on XB1 than FFXIII on 360 when you account for digital, so that is a success. I know I am a +1 for digital XB1 when I didn't buy XIII at all.

GTA V is a juggernaut. The game by itself has sales totals that come close to the entire Halo franchise combined.

It's the kinda of game that a good percentage of new owners of PS4/XBO pick up. It's a must have title, will sell until GTA VI is out.

If i recall correctly, the xbone version was heavily discounted before launch on ms store and other online retailers.

The only game I own out of the top 10 for the year is overwatch. This, once again, really reminds me how far from mainstream I am.

Full Year:
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare (Activision Blizzard)
Battlefield 1 (EA)
Tom Clancy’s The Division (Ubisoft)
NBA 2K17 (Take-Two)
Madden NFL 17 (EA)
Grand Theft Auto V (Take-Two)
Overwatch (Activision Blizzard)
Call of Duty: Black Ops III (Activision Blizzard)
FIFA 17 (EA)
Final Fantasy XV (Square Enix)

Looking at the list of shooters and sports makes me just feel indifferent. I'm not interested in any of those games, and the only one of those franchises I've bought in the past is Final Fantasy.

Final Fantasy XIII is at 660k WW on Steam.

I suppose FF doesn't have much audience on PC.

It also released 5 years after it came out on console.

There is an opportunity cost for SE for diverting funds toward an Xbox port as opposed to a PC port. The question is if that cost is greater or less than the profit they got from the Xbox port.

Considering the lack of physical copies, delivery costs, production costs, stock issues (issuing credits for unsold stock), cutting out one of the middle men (just Steam gets a cut, instead of retail store + Microsoft), I'm leaning towards the money they lost from not releasing on PC was probably greater than the profit they realized on the Xbox version.

Well PC sales would be more on DD side .
So if they sell the same amount they would get more profit on PC .
That is if port cost are around the same .

Wait is FFXV really 10th place or is that only because Pokemon Sun and Moon are split?

I think there's a reason for Square Enix don't launch FF on PC at day one and it's because they can't see good sales coming, especially at higher prices.

FFXV didn't do as bad on the Xbox One as I (and many others) expected it to do. I'm sure the next installment will also get an Xbox One version too.

This is not good at all.

I doubt they canned anything though.

Not good at all versus what? The Last Guardian which sold the same amount?

Which do you think cost more to make? By no means am I comparing it to the profitability of the PS4 version, but to act as if half a million extra sales means nothing to SE is stupid.

FFXV on Xbox sold considerably better than The Last Guardian did
