PS4 firmware 4.50 add Boost Mode for PS4 Pro.

nortonff

Hi, I'm nortonff. I spend my life going into threads to say that I don't care about the topic of the thread. It's a really good use of my time.
I doubt it does anything to Destiny. But I need to know for science.

Destiny its pretty much solid 30 frames. It won't go beyond that.

The Last Guardian has Pro support.
Dark Souls 3 has frame pacing problems so don't expect magic.
Driveclub is rock solid 30fps on every PS4.
Nope. I've played hundreds of hours of driveclub and I can tell you frame rate dips in very rare occasions, while playing online 12 players with rain etc. This should fix that.

Although a full pro patch with higher res, longer draw distance and better AA would be amazing.

Ok, I've read about people here who were not able to login to the 4.5 beta community portal yet they received the beta email from Sony. I hope I'm one of those! I have U.S. account (NYC), so hope I get that email before I leave the office at 5 so I can test out all my old games starting with Until Dawn!

Normally I sign up with both my NA and EU account but I was lazy this time. Good luck, I hope you get in.

I was gonna wait till Wipeout came out till get a Pro, but now maybe I can more easily justify getting one to go with a 1080p TV.

Is there anyway to buy a beta code? I did not see any on ebay.

I signed up for the beta today, but I am guessing it is too late.

I have a PS4 Pro and it would be fun to test non-patched games. Thanks.

you're probably eating on the hype way too much. i don't think the upgrades are gonna be more that few frames...

don't they usually release a 0.5 firmware around e3?

I don't know when but I'm sure that was fixed, I've been playing Bloodborne with a new save this week and payed attention to Old Yharnam, no slowdowns or weird noises this time.

I wonder if games with a "pro patch" could still see minor improvements if all they do is a "HUD upscale"? Like, if the devs are lazy enough not to actually use the extra power and just upscaled some UI shit so they could say, pro patch!!!!!, and now forcing beast mode might do some extra work?

Unlikely, but if this is using reserved power some devs didn't bother fully utilizing in their pro patches it may help.
"lazy" pro patches like you're describing would see the same benefits as boost mode. they don't have to do anything

All right, can finally say about Just Cause 3: we're in business. I'm no frame counter, but I'm seeing no drops, even when having the military going wild, gas stations blowing up, and rocket launchers taking out helicopters.

PS4 PRO BOOST MODE - RAINBOW SIX SIEGE - BOOSTING TO 110 FPS

(Not my footage)

I don't know much about the game but there's a tool in the bottom-left that tells you the FPS.

Not sure what the performance is like on PS4 Amateur (lol), but it seems to be pretty good in that footage, although he didn't do anything that could really impact performance

Lol, wow...

That might cause some issues.

Edit: Siege holds a pretty good 60 FPS on base in MP. Not so much in terrorist hunt.

Anyone tried out any games that run on Unity yet?

I am incredibly interested in this as well. Unity was long the bane of PS4 indie releases, barring some exceptions like AAC.

Thanks fam, I may actually purchase it now that it's cheap af

OK beast mode is fantastic. Have tested

Until dawn - much better performance
Bloodborne - better still frame pacing issues though
Just cause - a revelation a different game.
Mad max - better performance
YAKUZA 0 - better when roaming city
Games seems smoother overall. perhaps where would of seen 1-2 frames dropped . (tried destiny)
Side note: vr 3d is fantastic.

Damn!

Waste of time to even test Witcher 3... they ironed out pretty much everything technical a long time ago. If we are going to get anal about the 2fps drops that happen on only ONE part of the swamp area then I don't know what to say.

All that is going to happen here is people that haven't played the latest patch thinking that its this way because of the Boost mode.

You can disable vsync in T-hunt, so this isnt really surprising. PVP on the other is capped at 60
