NYC Neo-Nazi Gang Assault Twin Brothers Outside Bar

The fascists, emboldened by Trump's victory, have made themselves known in the past few months. From Heil'ing Trump to marching out-n-proud in cities and towns across America.

As these scumbags continue to assert themselves, normal folks have a decision to make: ignore them in hopes they go away, or fight them like previous generations have. This is the binary decision we will all have to make, sooner or later.

This past weekend on Feb. 11 two brothers were attacked in Manhattan by a group of neo-Nazis who were angered that one of the men had an anti-fascist (or Antifa) sticker on his phone case.

...

“One of the guys … sees [my brother’s] phone, grabs it and starts screaming, ‘I know what the f— that means, I know what the f— that sticker is, you need to get the f— out of here,'” the victim recounted. He added, “He throws the phone on the ground and they just start jumping us right in front of the bar.”

...

The brothers who were attacked over the weekend said they were assaulted by six or seven men who used brass knuckles and who donned matching “211 Crew” patches. “211 Crew” is described by the Southern Poverty Law Center as an extremist, “violent white supremacist prison gang.”

“One of the guys pulled a knife on my brother first and starts slashing at him. Then the guy with the knife starts coming over to me… His buddy grabs him and I guess at that point they all decide to run off,” the victim explained.

They're not terrorists though right. If you're white you can't be bad.

Its getting real out there. None of this is hypothetical anymore.

I've been seeing Anti-fa stuff everywhere in Brooklyn. My bartender was wearing a shirt the other day. But I live in an overwhelmingly liberal/immigrant area so neo-nazis would probably be vastly outnumbered.

LES still has shitty people.

One of the guys was arrested which is good
He was identified as 29-year-old John Young and was charged with assault, grand larceny, menacing, criminal mischief, and possession of a weapon, cops said.
Cy Vance won't go easy on him

i'm so sick of garbage posts like this. nobody i've come across since the election has ever seriously said that neo-nazis are just worried about the economy and deserve empathy. obviously there are trump voters who are irredeemable garbage, but generalizing his entire voting bloc that way accomplishes nothing good.

there are in fact low-income white people who feel like they haven't been served by republican or democrat presidencies and guess what? they're absolutely fucking right about that. by the numbers there's not a lot of them in the trump camp, in fact it's probably a pretty small minority, but it's a group of people who CAN be reached and who live in electorally important areas.

After Spencer got punched a lot of "regular" trump supporters started going on the defensive for fascists and neo Nazis. So did a lot of so called moderates. Anyone who fits into that group is not anyone worth reaching out to.

The victims in no way deserve being attacked, and this is not a stealth "they asked for it" post, but I don't understand why one would have such branding unless one is willing and prepared to fight for the ideals it represents. I guess they assumed they were in safe territory, but then what's the point of the sticker?

Anyway, eff nazis.

I don't know if you understand the irony of your post but I am taking some delight in it.

i agree 100%. as i said, lots (probably most) trump voters are straight up bad people and we shouldn't listen to them at all.

the problem when you generalize like that is you cut out a not-insignificant group that can be turned.

Plenty of Trump supporters and surrogates have said that Trump won specifically because of that. They have also denied any and all claims that racism was involved in the campaign in any way.

It's been shown multiple times now that the majority of Trump voters weren't primarily motivated to support him because of the economy (they were more concerned about immigration and terrorism), so if we're not going to generalize all of them based on a minority, we might as well be consistent about that.

I actually get what he's saying and to a point, I agree. However, the GOP, their punditry and to a certain extent the mainstream press have tried to venn diagram a big circle of racism into a much smaller circle of economic disparity - and used it to buy ignorance a temporary excuse. Of course there are blue collar workers being left behind, but they're still in a better position than say, black or LGBT folks at the same level or in the same circumstances, and they are now being RALLIED around racism.

To pretend that this voice hasn't been emboldened or amplified by this administration is IMO ignoring the most energetic movement in the country right now.

Sure, a blue collar unemployed miner in PA may have voted for Trump because of jobs, but he's not going to get LESS racist in the next four years and it's something we have to wrestle now, before it gets out of control.

And that ignores the more important fact - that those economically anxious people were tricked in whole cloth. they are not getting their jobs. they are not getting their economy. And this administration will double down on blaming the Other.

No. They voted for fascism and bigotry. Openly announced, by a sexist predator. Fuck every single one of them. Youre nothing if this was all worth it, because of a job that is gone due to a world moving ahead of you. next election will be won due to dismantling voter suppression and a higher turnout. People realize what their vote meant now. Sad they didn't before. But common sense won the popular vote. Backwards hillbillies got the ec win. Simple to fix that.

You can't come back from voting for trump. You're out of humanity. You're out of a job, and healthcare. And it's what you wanted because you enabled fascism. Deal breaker.

and it is only working because the democrats have utterly failed to address the real problems these people face over the last 40 years.

the actual number of for-real nazis may be growing but it's still very small relatively speaking. it's a concern but i'm much more worried about various police agencies as the arm of fascist enforcement.

I imagine when dude put the sticker on his phone he didn't think he'd literally get into a fight over it or be menaced with a knife.

Like, maybe we all should be more aware of this kind of potential for violence going forward though.

Yeah, people shouldn't be using Antifa symbols unless they are literally prepared to fight Nazis. This isn't a game or a fashion statement. Being part of Antifa has always carried risk of physical harm, even during more relaxed times when people just derided them as being extreme teens.

Dems haven't fixed the broken judicial system, helped exacerbate the War on Drugs and minimum sentencing, and have had significant roadblocks and complacency issues in addressing economic inequality, all of which have ravaged black people. Weird that we largely weren't on board for a fascist spouting xenophobic nonsense because 'herpaderp your jobs are coming back; believe me."

Stop making excuses for white people.

These echo my thoughts on the matter.

You don't get points just for buying merch.

AFA are responsible for many threats against publicly elected officials and violent crimes in my country and should be treated as the violent extremists they are. Putting stickers like that on your phone should only be something you do if you stand by the AFA core tenant of violence against anyone
they deem
fascist.

Attacking people who have sticker saying they are anti you? These guys are just something else. I remember one neo-nazi attacking me for having a mohawk. Goodnight.

I've got to agree with this. It seems like Antifa didn't have much presence in the US, except on the west coast, until a year or two ago, so maybe folks didn't understand the implications. And now there are well-to-do NYU and Columbia students playing at it.

Only place I've ever seen it in the US was in the punk scenes, but it has a history of violence with Nazis so it's understood. It's mainstream enough now that ivy league kids are rocking Antifa?
