DF - Horizon is a technical masterpiece on PS4 and Pro

This game is a technical marvel. The fact that it's running this well with these kinds of graphics on a PS4 is insane. The IQ is phenomenal.

mah gawd death stranding is gonna be a sight to behold at max pro efficiency and all the engine updates , and hell mostly because of the retarded budget that project seemingly has.

This goes to show any OG console won't hold back the new consoles. Devs can push more than res with the power of more powerful comsoles

Can you compare it to other games using HDR like FF15 or Forza Horizon 3?
Hmmm, FF15 was pretty intense but it sometimes crushed blacks. The Witness is still one of my favorites for HDR.

I think it's implemented better than 15 and Forza Horizon 3 - maybe not as brilliant as 15 at times but it's more balanced.

Everything I've read about this game has been absolutely fantastic. It's amazing to hear everything come together so well, technically AND in game design. Guerilla and Sony have set a bar here.

This sounds like the game to the most of my new TV and PRO...too bad the game looks so fucking boring and I doubt i would play it for more than 2 hours.

Nope! 8 days to wait and need to go in as blind as possible!

Yeah, I'm not reading any of these and I'm not watching any footage either. It's only 9 more days here. I don't mind a few vague impressions from gaffers, but other than that I want to go in completely fresh.

My Vizio P55 gets delivered today.

"Technical masterpiece" compared to what other game on PS4 and PS4 Pro? Uncharted 4? The game does have top notch tech, but there are several mechanical issues I have from watching game footage.

For those asking, downsampling was confirmed for this ages ago.

For starters, for players who still possess standard 1080p HDTVs, we’re able to offer far better image quality. We’ve got a number of techniques at our disposal. The most logical one is supersampling. This is a very high-quality anti-aliasing technique, which basically means we internally render at a higher resolution (close to 4K) before shrinking it down to the final 1080p resolution. As our internal calculations are done at a resolution much higher than 1080p, more detail survives before we shrink it down to 1080p, resulting in smoother edges — virtually no jaggies — and a more stable image.

Trumping UC4's visuals with an open world game..

Guerilla proving to be top dog technically once again.

What open world games look better at this level of performance?

The Witcher 3 is the only one that comes close, but that's only if we're comparing the PC version.

ps4 old putting in werk tbh

game looks so gorgeous. i really need to stop looking at it, i can't get it for a while cus of zelda. gunna be a fucking treat when i do get to it tho.

One thing that's interesting, the game still has no patch. It's so rare to see a game with no patch notes available.

I know it'll have a small day 1 patch (~250mb) but it's cool that they shipped a game in such great shape.

Thanks for another great video. Did you just do it today. I noticed you spoke about the extra pro modes upcoming in the patch.

The night scenes would look amazing with HDR. Can't wait to play it.

this game really makes me want a 4K tv with HDR..

Have been playing Horizon on two different 1080p sets.. and it looks fantastic. But man, I would love to see it in 4K with HDR...

Bought an OLED 4K/HDR for this. Guerrilla pushing the envelope. Really curious about their engine architecture.

If I get a pro but not a 4K tv will I see enough difference over a reg PS4 on my 1080p tv?

Yes, definitely. If you have any sort of eye for the tech aspect of games, you will see a big difference. The boost to clarity is very much noticeable and it actually sorta makes me miss playing on a 1080p set. Playing a game in anything lower than 4K on a 4K set is super obvious looking at times while downsampling to a 1080p screen always looked great.

Wait for news about downsampling. It's what's worrying me as well. I don't have a 4k tv.

Downsampling for the game was announced on the day of the Pro's announcement!
