Nintendo Switch Previews are coming in

So how many outlets got review units? And how many of them are having the sync issue?

Because we need to know that before we can decide whether this is a problem that is relatively isolated or a distaster.

We didn't do a video on the unboxing or using the system but more so discuss how it is using it on a day to day basis.

During one part we do bring up two technical issues I have with the Switch, which I'm really hoping are just isolated to our console. One is with the battery not charging all the way even when it's docked, and the other with some issues of input lag in rare cases when the Joy-Con are detached from the console itself.

Nintendo Switch First Impressions - What's Up Games

(To clarify, for those inevitably asking how the hell we got one, this is a press unit for GameZone.com, which will be having a written preview up as well)

Edit: Oh! I see other sites have had issues with the left Joy-Con as well.

Isn't battery not charging all the way pretty common with modern electronics as a way to prevent battery degradation?

The Joycon problems sound a bit worrying though.

Want to know whether WPA-2 Enterprise. I'd love to be able to use the eShop day one with my uni internet.

Also damn with those possible sync issues. Nintendo please.

So what I'm specifically noticing is that it literally stops charging when it gets to 73% and what's weirder than that, after going to bed and coming to check on the Switch in the morning, it was at 71%. And the thing was definitely docked since the whole time I was playing on the TV prior to going to sleep.

Greg agrees with me that the Joycon grip is way too narrow to be usable.

Yeah? That's odd, considering some of the comparisons I've seen. Is this image incorrect, or is there something else about the controller's design that makes it feel that way?

Awesome to finally see previews! The Joy Con L issue seems a bit worrying, but I won't be too concerned until we see if the day one update fixes things.

My god is the OS slick... Confirmation of "quick settings" is a goddamn blessing.

Some good news from Endgadget regarding Zelda:

"it also performed a lot better than it did at preview events, where I noticed stuttering and occasional slowdown while it was connected to the dock. I wasn't expecting much from the Switch's graphical capabilities, but there are plenty of moments where Breath of the Wild is just strikingly beautiful."

Yikes

Not sure you know what the word defend means
And here we go.. Negative news is going to come out for something or another some will troll and make it a bigger deal than it is, some news will legit worry others which in turn they will speak about which in turn will make ppl automatically assume they too are trolling and defend the situation. It's the circle of gaming.

Anyway looking forward to more impressions

Not really. Calm down
If the issue can't be fixed with a firmware upgrade than yeah I think it's a huge problem especially since there's maybe 50 units out to journalist and there's multiple reports.

Ideally it can be fixed with a firmware upgrade.

I think this is worthy of its own thread tbh.

I think it's the sticks and buttons being directly on top of each other instead of being offset. When on the Switch it's fine because you can spread your fingers out more, but on the grip it makes it awkward.

Would you say it's similar to a Dreamcast controller?
Never held a DC controller. I'd say it's like a Game Boy Advance SP in terms of awkwardness for adult sized hands.
