Gosling always looks like he's constantly going through an existential crisis. He's perfect for the role.
Wouldn't surprise me if the casting director was like "damn, there's our Replicant lead!"

Nice, made a gallery with more pictures.

I'm sure there will be grime. The work on the visuals isn't done. And they're not showing everything so far.
Visually stunning but Gosling looks like he's playing a replicant with his complete lack of emotional expression... Maybe he is actually playing a replicant?
Hmm. Weird. I'm getting black bars regardless of which viewing mode I'm using.
I wonder why it's not working for me...
Good to know though... I should probably know that considering I work in video and am regularly posting things to Youtube... Heh.
EDIT: Doh, nevermind. I see what you mean about the preview scrubber. I somehow took that to mean that the interface would adjust to remove the black bars. Been a long day.
I guess I didn't realize that the screenplay was written by Hampton Fancher, who wrote the original film, and Michael Green, who is the co-executive producer and a writer on American Gods with Bryan Fuller.
We may be in better hands here than we thought.
The visuals certainly look really good, but something feels a little off to me. I'm not sure how to put it, but it's like the movie looks a bit too clean (if that makes any sense). It put me off the most, when Gosling's character entered the casino(?). It didn't look abandoned at all and not dirty either, considering the environment outside. Really weird. It doesn't really evoke a noir feeling for me.
obviously very difficult to tell from a short trailer but i thought the whole look of the film looked very cheap. a bit like Ghost in the Shell. visually nice its own right but rather bland looking compared to the grimy physicality of the original.
at this point my only fear is that the story will go too great a length to explain itself and be more 'stuffed' than it needs to be. i wouldnt fault the movie for that i guess--thats likely what studio executives demand from a follow up to a niche film like blade runner

Is it wrong that I am super excited Dennis is on this and not Ridley?
lots of gosling haters in this thread
Hmm.
You are using old youtube design. There is no black bars in cinema mode on new one.
You'd better not fuck this up Warner Bros. Bladerunner is literally my childhood and my number one movie. I'm already considering the fact that making a sequel is a big mistake and you better prove me wrong. If you pump out some pg13 bullshit with no depth, shitty music choices, a cliched plot and all of the requirements for a sellout blockbuster fuckfest
I linked this one earlier in the thread: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=236115196&postcount=186PSY・S;236119545 said:where do you get prores uploads?

? He's an excellent actor. Just because he had a popular role with shit writing all of a sudden cast him out? He's always called Blade Runner one of his favorite movies so Im proud of him for landing this.Yo get Leto out of this
It kinda does with the holograms and flashy billboards. None of it really matter since they all rip from OG Blade Runner.Glad this looks nothing like Ghost in the Shell. That was one of my biggest fears.
Yeah, kinda hard for cyberpunk movies to not look similar when they're going full on cyberpunk. It kinda does with the holograms and flashy billboards.
Yeah, I'm glad Leto is in this. Think he has a good presence on screen in the right role. Looks good here.? He's an excellent actor. Just because he had a popular role with shit writing all of a sudden cast him out? He's always called Blade Runner his favorite movie so Im proud of him for landing this.

If it helps:I want it to be good, but as a mega fan of the first movie, I can't help but feel nervous. I really don't want this to be another Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The legacy of Blade Runner is practically sacred by this point, but a new film could tarnish that. I still long for the days where I could watch the final shot of Last Crusade - Indy, his father, Marcus and Sallah riding off into the literal sunset - and think "wow, what a perfect ending to the saga."
For a start, I don't feel like they've visually nailed the vibe/ambiance of the first movie. But with so many years between the two films, I guess that wouldn't have been possible anyway. And I'm not too keen on Ryan Gosling in general. Him being a replicant wouldn't pose much of an acting stretch from his usual dead-eyed, stoic performances in other films.
Ah well, fingers crossed. Would've been fucking amazing if we got another Vangelis score at least.
CBM's are the be all and end all of movies for a lot of people on this site it seems. The amount of great actors you see cast off because they put in a bad performance in a CBM due to turgid direction on this site is crazy.? He's an excellent actor. Just because he had a popular role with shit writing all of a sudden cast him out? He's always called Blade Runner one of his favorite movies so Im proud of him for landing this.
